Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between student group involvement and the level of tolerance toward differences in Islamic schools of thought (mazhab) cohort students of at IAIN Sorong. The background of this research arises from the fact that although students are expected to be active in campus organizations to enhance social skills and inclusive attitudes, intra-religious tolerance toward mazhab variations still needs to be empirically tested. The study employs a quantitative correlational approach with random sampling of 35 students from five study programs. Data were collected through a closed Likert scale questionnaire (1–5) that had been tested for validity and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70). Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, normality test, reliability test, Pearson correlation analysis, and simple linear regression with SPSS version 32. The results showed that the mean score of student group involvement was 3.09 (SD = 0.73) and the mean score of madzhab tolerance was 3.30 (SD = 0.61). Pearson correlation analysis yielded r = 0.115, p = 0.510 > 0.05, while simple linear regression showed R² = 0.013, F = 0.443, p = 0.510, indicating that student group involvement does not have a significant effect on tolerance toward madzhab differences. These findings imply that student activeness in organizational groups does not automatically foster substantive tolerant attitudes; therefore, it needs to be combined with quality interactions, reflective experiences, and structured tolerance education. This study provides implications for the development of intra-religious tolerance education programs in Islamic higher education institutions and opens up opportunities for further research on other factors influencing students’ tolerant attitudes toward madzhab diversity.

Abstract

Public relations management strategies in building and strengthening synergistic relationships between MTs Nurul Wafa Besuki Situbondo and alumni and community leaders. This is a qualitative study using a case study approach. Data was obtained through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the head of the madrasah, public relations officers, alumni, and community leaders, and supported by documentation of public relations activities. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing in accordance with the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show that the public relations strategy at MTs Nurul Wafa emphasizes two-way communication based on Islamic values, such as ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), openness, and honesty. Through social events, digital publications, and socio-religious activities, public relations has succeeded in increasing public trust and strengthening the madrasah's positive image. Alumni act as communication agents and sources of moral and material support, while community leaders become strategic partners in expanding the institution's influence and legitimacy. The integration of Islamic boarding school values with communication professionalism makes MTs Nurul Wafa's public relations strategy effective in building the institution's reputation as an Islamic institution that is adaptive to the times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic education management and the leadership strategies of the madrasah principal in managing the daytime learning system under conditions of limited facilities and infrastructure at MTs Annur in Sorong City. This is a qualitative study using a case study design involving 19 informants, consisting of the madrasah principal, vice principal, teachers, administrative staff, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that management functions including planning, organizing, executing, and supervising are carried out adaptively and contextually in response to space constraints through the implementation of the daytime learning system. Furthermore, the madrasah principal’s leadership strategies, which are oriented toward exemplary conduct, service, and participation, contribute to fostering a work culture that is disciplined, communicative, and collaborative. The integration of management functions with the values of servant leadership has proven to support the effectiveness of learning as well as organizational sustainability. This study recommends strengthening adaptive leadership and developing a service-based management model in the administration of madrasahs facing resource constraints.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a resilient management model by integrating sustainability practices and spiritual leadership in the context of Islamic boarding schools. Using a qualitative approach with a multi-site study design, this research was conducted at the Nurul Jadid Paiton Islamic Boarding School in East Java, which represents different institutional characteristics, namely traditional, semi-modern, and modern boarding schools. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with clerics, teachers, administrative staff, and senior students, supplemented by participatory observation of educational and managerial activities, as well as the pesantren's institutional and curricular aspects. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes three main stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. To maintain the validity of the research results, layered source triangulation was applied to make the findings more valid and reliable. The findings identify three essential components that reinforce institutional resilience: (1) spiritual leadership based on Islamic principles such as sincerity (ikhlas), consistency (istiqamah), and trustworthiness (amanah); (2) sustainability-oriented practices including economic self-reliance, curriculum innovation, and digital adaptation; and (3) the integration of spiritual and sustainability dimensions into a holistic model of resilient management. The proposed model, termed Resilient Islamic Educational Management, contributes both theoretically and practically. Theoretically, it enriches Islamic education management discourse by bridging contemporary management theory with Islamic spiritual traditions. Practically, it equips Islamic boarding schools' leaders with an adaptive framework to strengthen governance, autonomy, and global competitiveness. Ultimately, this study emphasizes that the sustainability of Islamic boarding schools is deeply rooted not only in organizational and economic strategies but also in value-driven spiritual leadership.
