Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the health of the entire community as an effort to prevent contracting the Corona virus, it can be done by strengthening the immune system by consuming supplements or concoctions from ingredients such as herbs from turmeric and red ginger rhizomes.Turmeric rhizome (Curcuma domestica val) and red ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale var roscoe) have many benefits, one of which is to increase the immune system (immunomodulator). This study aims to identify secondary metabolites contained in the infusion of turmeric rhizome and red ginger rhizome. The method used is a color test with specific reagents to determine the content of secondary metabolites qualitatively which includes, alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids/steroids, saponins and tannins. The extraction method used is the infusion method, the results of phytochemical screening tests from turmeric rhizome infusion contain alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids/steroids and tannins. While the phytochemical screening of red ginger rhizome infusion contains flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids, and saponins.

Abstract

Waste utilization in the era of globalization receives a lack of attention from the community, because lackness of public unawareness. Pineapple peel waste (Ananas comosus) can be produce activated charcoal. This study aims to produce activated charcoal from pineapple peel waste that meets SNI requirements, such as water level, ash level, and iodine absorption ability. This is a quantitative research with two repetitions. The results show that the water and ash level of the charcoal was 0.0054% and 0.0010%, respectively. The iodine absorption ability was measured by titration using 0.1 N sodium thiosulfate solution. The iodine absorption ability was 365.6 mg/g utilizing a 1.2 ml titer. In conclusion, the parameters meet the requirement of SNI that stated the maximum moisture content, ash content, and iodine absorbability in active charcoal, was 15%, 10%, and 750 mg/g, respectively.

Abstract

Premature aging is the process of aging skin that it faster than time because there is oxidative damage caused by free radicals. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the cosmeceuticals spray gel combination of turmeric rhizome fraction with catfish skin collagen. Curcumin compounds in turmeric are known to have high antioxidant activity to inhibit free radicals and the addition of collagen is intended to be able to provide intake in improving skin structure due to premature aging. The preparations are made into 8 formulas with various concentration. The preparations formed will be evaluated and tested for their antioxidant activity. The result obtained were the extraction of catfish skin collagen the yield of 12.466% collagen. Examination of the ash content, moisture content, fat and protein contain were obtained respectively 0.0105; 0.0525; 5.98; 85.76%. In the evaluation of spray gel preparations, it was found that the preparations F1-F8 met quality standards on the test of spreadability, adhesion resistance, dry time, pH, spray conditions, except for the viscosity value at F4 and F5. The highest % inhibition value was obtained at F8 (0.5% ethyl acetate fractions of turmeric rhizome and 2% collagen of catfish skin) amounted to 48.82%. In statistical t-test showed sig 0.001, indicates there are significant differences in each formula.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian yang diusulkan ini adalah kegiatan pelatihan kepada ibu-ibu rumah tangga yang peduli tentang limbah minyak jelantah dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan kepada masyarakat melalui pemberdayaan perekonomian untuk mengahsilkan jamu dari umbi tumbuhan yang bernama manggata. Jamu ini sangat banyak dimanfaatkan dan dapat digunakan di semua kalangan baik anak kecil hingga dewasa. Salah satu manfaat yg utama dari manggata, yaitu bermanfaat untuk membantu meningkatkan stamina dan memperkuat sistem kekebalan tubuh agar tidak mudah sakit. Serta masih banyak manfaat lainnya yang bisa didapatkan dari Umbi Manggata.

Abstract

Bakso adalah produk pangan yang terbuat dari bahan utama daging yang dilumatkan, baik daging ayam, babi ataupun sapi serta berbagai produk makanan laut seperti ikan, udang, dan kepiting, lalu dicampur dengan tepung kanji serta berbagai macam bumbu, lalu di bentuk bulatan-bulatan dan kemudian direbus. Mie adalah makanan yang lazim dan digemari oleh masyarakat, mulai dari usia muda sampai tua karena mie harganya yang ekonomis dan cara pengolahannya juga mudah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kandungan formalin pada bakso dan mie kuning yang diperjualbelikan di sekitar Jalan Soebrantas Panam Kota Pekanbaru dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif yaitu pereaksi warna. Penelitian ini dilakukan di laboratorium analisa makanan dan minuman universitas abdurrab pada bulan januari 2022. Hasil pengujian dengan pereaksi Schiff diperoleh empat sampel bakso positif dan dua sampel mie kuning positif mengandung formalin, dengan pereaksi FeCl3 diperoleh empat sampel bakso positif dan dua sampel mie kuning positif mengandung formalin. Bakso dan mie kuning yang positif mengandung formalin tidak memenuhi persyaratan yang diatur dalam permenkes RI No. 033 tahun 2012, sehingga tidak aman untuk dikonsumsi.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out with PKK mothers in Karya Indah Village, Kec. Tapung, Kab. Kampar, Riau. Law Number 6 of 2014 article 6 concerning Villages states that village arrangements aim to advance the economy of village communities and overcome national development gaps. The village community without exception includes women in the village of Karya Indah Village, Kec. Tapung, Riau is actually a village potential and asset that can help improve family welfare in particular and improve village welfare in general. The service method is carried out by providing counseling, demonstrations and training. The purpose of this service is expected to solve community problems, namely the low ability of the community in entrepreneurship so that they can contribute to increasing the potential of partners, especially the community by improving the quality of human resources. The level of achievement of the goals of this service program can be said to be successful, which can be seen from the enthusiasm of the participants in participating in the service activities and the ability of the service participants to answer questions after completing the counseling and training provided. The recommendation from this community service activity is that it is necessary to have similar repetitive activities related to training which are related to increasing the potential of the community through training.

Abstract

Lip tint is one of the liquid lip cosmetic preparations used to color lips with natural colors. This study aims to see the effect of adding natural dyes to secang wood (Caesalpinia Sappan L) and beetroot (Beta Vulgaris L) on the evaluation of preparations in terms of homogeneity, pH test (SNI No 16-4769-1998), smearability test, irritation & preference test, and stability test. Lip tint preparations were made into three concentrations, namely by the ratio of secang wood and beetroot tubers in each formula, namely F1 (25%: 25%), F2 (35%: 15%), F3 (10%: 40%) successively. The results obtained from this study were lip tint preparations that were not homogeneous on F1 and F2, had good abrasive power on all three formulas, did not irritate the skin, and the pH obtained did not meet the requirements of the pH test, and F2 was a preparation that was liked by many panelists, whereas in the stability test at week 2 all formulas showed changes in color and consistency indicating that the preparation was unstable.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertemakan edukasi peraturan pemerintah tentang obat tradisional di Indonesia dan sosialiasi keamanan obat tradisonal. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada Siswa/I SMAN 2 Tambang Kabupaten Kampar. Pada Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan memberikan materi tentang Hirarki Perundang-undangan di Indonesia serta pemberian informasi tentang peraturan pemerintah tentang obat tradisional di Indonesia dan sosialiasi keamanan obat tradisonal secara komprehensif kepada Siswa/I SMAN 2 Tambang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan Peraturan yang mengatur tentang obat tradisional di Indonesia, baik tentang penggunaan dan keaman obat tradisional. Kegiatan ini merupakan  upaya bersama antara dosen dan masyarakat dalam rangka meningkatan pengeahuan masyarakat tentang obat tradisional, penggunaan yang baik serta keamanannya. Sasaran pada kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah Siswa/I yang berada di  SMAN 2 Tambang Kabupaten Kampar. Penyampaian Informasi dalam kegatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan cara sosialisasi melalui metode ceramah, diskusi dan bimbingan. Metode ceramah dilakukan dengan memberikan materi edukasi peraturan pemerintah tentang obat tradisional di Indonesia dan sosialiasi keamanan obat tradisonal. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah kedisiplinan dan tingkat kesadaran santri SMAN 2 Tambang Kabupaten Kampar dalam Mengetahui penggolongan obat traisional, penggunaan obat tradisional yang baik serta menentukan keaman obat tradisional yang akan dikonsumsi dengan baik pula

Abstract

Kunyit memiliki warna kuning yang disebabkan oleh adanya 3 pigmen utama yaitu kurkumin, demetoksikurkumin, bisdemetoksikurkumin. Senyawa kurkumin diketahui mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memeriksa dan melihat korelasi aktivitas antioksidan dari tiap fraksi empulur rimpang kunyit dengan dua perlakuan menggunakan metode DPPH (α,α-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl) dan penetapan kadar total fenolik. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 2 faktor perlakuan yaitu pengaruh perlakuan sampel (blanching dan non blanching)  dan pengaruh pelarut pada berbagai fraksi. Fraksi didapatkan dengan cara fraksinasi bertingkat yang dimulai dengan proses defatting menggunakan n-heksan sebelum diekstraksi, kemudian dimaserasi menggunakan etanol 96% dan dilanjutkan dengan fraksinasi bertingkat (cair-cair) menggunakan pelarut etil asetat dan aseton sehingga diperoleh fraksi air, etil asetat dan aseton. Kadar total fenol diukur menggunakan metode Follin-ciocalteu dan aktivitas antioksidan diukur menggunakan metode DPPH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses blanching dapat meningkatkan kadar fenol total dan aktivitas antioksidan. Kadar fenol total terbesar didapatkan pada ekstrak etanol empulur rimpang kunyit yang di blanching sebesar 1,7161 mg GAE/g ekstrak dan aktivitas antioksidan terbesar terdapat pada fraksi etil asetat sampel yang di blanching dengan nilai IC50 15,93 µg/ml. Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik didapatkan korelasi yang lemah antara kadar fenolik total dengan aktivitas antioksidan.

Abstract

Turmeric (Curcuma domestica) has nutritious compounds called curcuminoids, which can be used as antioxidants. As an antioxidant, C. domestica extract can be used to ward off free radicals that damage collagen and elastin, a protein that keeps skin moist. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of serum combined with collagen's addition using the DPPH method. The DPPH was made at a concentration of 80 μg/mL, and the absorption was read at a wavelength of 520 nm using a microplate rider. The study was conducted by making six formulations: F0, F1, F2, F3, F4, and F5 obtained the results of serum made from C. domestica extract that could inhibit free radicals and meet the physical evaluation test requirements of serum. Furthermore, the formula was made using only one active ingredient and only collagen to determine the extract or collagen's antioxidant activity. The results obtained indicate that collagen had a supporting role in adding antioxidant activity apart from its extract. The highest % inhibition value at F5 with 90.526% could ward off free radicals.
