Abstract

The Quran is the source of all knowledge, including mathematics. On the other hand, mathematics is closely related to everyday life and the development of other fields of knowledge. Mathematics is one of the disciplines closely connected to the verses of the Quran. Mathematics education is expected to improve to meet the advancements in time and technology continually. It is also anticipated that mathematics education can build the character of each student through religious values. This activity aims to introduce the concept of sets integrated with the content of verses found in the Quran. The activity was conducted as an online Zoom meeting and YouTube streaming seminar. Participants included mathematics lecturers, teachers, and students from Islamic junior and senior high schools from ten provinces in Indonesia. The event was titled "The Quran and Set Theory" and received high appreciation from the seminar participants. This was evident from the enthusiastic participation and numerous questions raised during the Q&A session. This activity has motivated teachers and lecturers to integrate the mathematical concepts learned with the Quranic verses. Teachers who participated in this activity are expected to act as agents in popularizing the method of integrated mathematics education with the content of Quranic verses, especially set theory.

Abstract

The tanh method is known as an effective method for solving partial differential equations and obtaining traveling wave solutions. While well-used in continuous systems, its application to discrete systems (nonlinear difference-differential equations, DDEs) is still less explored. This paper revisits the tanh method for discrete systems, providing a simple justification for the method to produce discrete solitary wave solutions, including pulse-type and (anti)kink-type. By transforming DDEs into nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and using polynomial forms in terms of the tanh function, we outline steps for deriving and verifying exact solutions

Abstract

This study aims to find the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) on graphs with uncertain edge weights, which are modeled using triangular fuzzy numbers. To compare and sum the edge weights in determining the fuzzy MST, the layered average integration method is used. In graphs with crisp edge weights (real numbers), the MST problem can be solved using Prim's algorithm. This research develops and introduces a fuzzy version of Prim's algorithm to address the fuzzy MST problem on graphs with fuzzy edge weights. Additionally, an application example is provided to demonstrate the performance of the modified Prim's algorithm in determining the fuzzy MST. The results of this study offer an effective approach to handling uncertainty in graph edge weights using fuzzy methods and can be applied to various network problems involving data uncertainty.

Abstract

This paper discusses the stability analysis of robust Kalman filtering on uncertain continuous-time systems. In real applications, systems often face model uncertainty and noise affecting prediction and estimation accuracy. Therefore, a filtering method is needed to overcome these uncertainties. Robust Kalman filtering is one of the most effective methods for dealing with model uncertainty. In this paper, we discuss the application of this method to continuous-time systems and its stability analysis. Simulation results show that robust Kalman filtering can provide more accurate and stable estimates than the conventional Kalman filter. Robust Kalman filtering can reduce the estimation error to about 30% under uncertain model conditions and maintain stability despite disturbances of up to 20% of the system parameters. However, this research has limitations regarding testing scenarios with more complex uncertainty models and higher disturbance variability. The originality of this research lies in its focus on the stability analysis of robust Kalman filtering on uncertain continuous-time systems, which has rarely been discussed in depth in previous literature.

Abstract

This report presents a literature review on Fuzzy Calculus, a field that emerged from the integration of classical calculus with fuzzy set theory. Classical calculus, although fundamental for modeling precise systems, has limitations in dealing with the uncertainty and ambiguity inherent in real-world phenomena. Fuzzy calculus extends the concepts of derivative and integral to the fuzzy domain, enabling modeling of dynamic systems involving uncertain variables. This report outlines the basic concepts, methodologies of fuzzy differentiation and integration, and highlights significant opportunities in dynamic systems modeling, optimization, control systems, artificial intelligence, and various cross-disciplinary case studies. In addition, theoretical and practical challenges including unique operation definitions, lack of standardization, result interpretation issues, and computational complexity are discussed. Finally, it presents future research directions of Fuzzy Calculus in the face of complexity and uncertainty in the modern world.

Abstract

The study of the spreading of a rumor is significantly important to obtain scientific information and better strategies in reducing its negative impact. Twitter has become a medium for spreading rumors or hoaxes spatially and chronologically because it has a unique community structure. This study demonstrates the model of spreading rumors by considering credibility, correlation, and mass classification based on personality is discussed. The behavior of a model solution around equilibrium points is investigated with the Jacobian matrices. The stability also corresponds to a threshold number indicating the rumor fades away or continues to spread in the population. The analytical results are confirmed by actual data from Twitter in Indonesia with #SahkanRUUPKS. The simulation results show that the free rumor equilibrium point is stable and the threshold number is less than 1. Our study shows that the number of spreaders does not increase and the #SahkanRUUPKS rumor will vanish.

Abstract

The health and nutrition of children at the age of five are very important aspects in the children’s growth and development. An assessment of the nutritional status of toddlers that is commonly used is anthropometry. This study aims to obtain the decision rules used to classify toddlers into nutritional status groups using the rough set algorithm and determine the level of classification accuracy of the resulting decision rules. The index used in this study is the weight-for-age index. Attributes used in this study were the mother’s education level, mother’s level of knowledge, the status of exclusive breastfeeding, history of illness in the last month, and nutritional status of toddlers. The results of the analysis show that there are 21 decision rules. In this study, the resulting decision rules experience inconsistencies. The selection of decision rules that experience inconsistencies is based on each decision rule’s highest strength value. The rough set algorithm can be used for the classification process with an accuracy rate of 86.36%.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is a potential danger to the mother and child. Therefore, the risk of anemia in pregnant women requires serious attention from all relevant parties. Considering the numerous negative effects caused by anemia in pregnant women, efforts must be made to prevent and treat anemia in pregnant women by understanding the factors that influence it. This study assesses the risk factors for anemia in pregnant women at Tegal Rejo Community Health Center, Yogyakarta Province. In this paper, a new integrated classification approach with binary logistic regression (LR) analysis and Rough Set Theory (RST) is proposed, in order to examine factors on the incidence of anemia in pregnancy. The proposed model is called the Logistic Regression and Reduction Rough Set (LR3S). In LR3S model, the RST technique is used to detect inconsistent sample and removing inconsistent sample that have probability less than 0.5 before doing LR modelling. To evaluate the development of the resulting model, a comparison was made of the performance of Original Logistic Regression (OLR), LR model after removed outlier namely as Remove Outlier Original Logistic Regression (RO2LR) and LR3S. Using a number of model performance metrics, it is found that LR3S has the best performance for the three models used. Using LR3S model, it is found that CED status, educational level, parity and gestational are significant variable impact on the incidence of anemia.

Abstract

This study analyzes the stability of a mathematical model of avian influenza virus spread in poultry-human interaction population. The analysis was conducted to see the dynamics of the spread of avian influenza virus. From the model, the equilibrium points and basic reproduction numbers associated with the stability of the system are obtained. The results obtained show that stability depends on the basic reproduction number. Numerical simulations were carried out using Maple and gave the result that the infection rate is low and the system reaches a stable state where the infection does not disappear but does not spread significantly.
