Abstract

Pond bottom sediment conditions influence shrimp culture. As benthic organisms, shrimp are mainly on the surface of the pond bottom, so cultivation preparations related to improving sediment quality are essential. Pond bottom practice, such as drying, liming, and fertilizing, is common. However, in bottom pond conditions where total drying cannot be carried out, other treatments are needed, such as the addition of hydrogen peroxide. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding hydrogen peroxide in pond sediments on the performance of shrimp growth and water quality. The study was conducted with five doses of hydrogen peroxide (0.25 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL, 2 mL) mixed with 350 g of pond soil sediment. Ten shrimps with an average weight of 0,27±0,03 g were put into the rearing container, which had been given pond bottom sediment according to the treatment. The results showed that the 2 mL hydrogen peroxide treatment gave the best results on the growth rate and average weight of Pacific whiteleg shrimp at the end of rearing. Water quality such as pH value, dissolved oxygen, and temperature were not significantly different between treatments. Hydrogen peroxide treatment can improve shrimp growth performance without affecting water quality during rearing.

Abstract

Feed that has a high nutritional content can increase fish growth. One of the natural feeds that can be used is maggot which can be given to fish and can be cultivated by humans so that its availability is always continuous. This research aims to find out the combination of maggot feed with commercial feed as an effort to reduce feed costs in aquaculture activities. This research was conducted in March November 2022 with a trial period of 28 days on May 9 June 9, 2022. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments (40% maggot + 60% commercial feed, 50% maggot + 50% commercial feed, maggot 60% + 40% commercial feed, and Control) and 3 replications. The fish used were Nile Tilapia measuring 4.00 g obtained from the Bayongbong Fisheries Technical Implementation Unit and then randomly stocked into 12 containers. The test parameters included length growth, weight growth, specific weight growth rate, feed efficiency, and survival rate. The results showed that giving maggot combined with commercial feed had a significant effect on the length growth, weight growth, and specific weight growth rate (P<0.05). The best growth was found in treatment of 50% maggot + 50% commercial feed (length growth 3.500 ± 0.100 cm, weight growth 4.400 ± 0.111 g, and specific weight growth rate 3.780 ± 0.017%/day). The combination of maggot and commercial feed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the survival rate and feed efficiency of Nile Tilapia.

Abstract

Aquaponics is an integration between fish and plant cultivation that benefits these two sectors. The development of aquaponics at the farm level can be an effort to increase food security. This community service activity aims to apply aquaponic leaf vegetable cultivation techniques, to optimize the facilities available at Gapoktan Bina Sejahtera (fish ponds). Activities carried out by counseling methods, training and demolots to farmers regarding the cultivation techniques of leaf vegetables and red tilapia with an aquaponic system. During the activity, monitoring was also carried out by a team of service lecturers, assistance by student teams and evaluation through pretest and posttest. This community service activity is able to provide new experiences, and increase farmers' knowledge and skills in cultivating red tilapia and leaf vegetables with an aquaponic system.

Abstract

Ikan Platy (Xiphophorus maculatus) adalah salah satu ikan hias yang sangat digemari masyarakat karena memiliki warna yang indah sehingga memiliki nilai estetis dan ekonomis. Selain itu ikan ini memiliki ciri khas yang merupakan daya tarik tersendiri, sehingga di beberapa negara harganya cukup tinggi. Ikan platy (Xiphophorus maculatus) merupakan salah satu jenis ikan hias air tawar yang memiliki bentuk sirip dan warna yang bervariasi, serta berukuran antara 1-4,2 cm . Ikan ini berasal dari Amerika Tengah tepatnya di Varacruze, Meksiko sampai Belize, Guatemala. Salah satu keunikan ikan platy adalah dari segi reproduksi, yaitu ikan ini termasuk ke dalam livebearer atau kelompok ikan yang melahirkan “viviparous”Pengembangan budidaya ikan hias di Kabupaten Bogor masih terpusat di beberapa kecamatan, yaitu Kecamatan Ciampea, Ciseeng, Parung  yaitu dengan jumlah RTP di Kecamatan Ciampea sebanyak 151 RTP, 93 RTP di Kecamatan Ciseeng, 76 RTP di Kecamatan Parung. Adapun luasan lahan untuk budidaya ikan hias di Kecamatan Ciampea sebesar 9,24 Ha, 2,14 Ha di Kecamatan Ciseeng,   dan 5,81 Ha di Kecamatan Parung. Permasalahan utama dalam pengembangan budidaya ikan Plati di Desa Parakan adalah banyaknya ikan yang mati karena diserang beberapa mikroorganisme seperti virus, bakteri, jamur, parasit dan mikroorganisme lainnya. Selain itu kurangnya pengetahuan mitra tentang cara pencegahan dan penganggulangan penyakit yang menyerang ikan Platy. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan sebagai salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to transfer knowledge about the application and use of bioquaponic technology which is the integration of biofloc technology and hydroponic systems. The target of this community service activity is ornamental fish cultivators and the general public in Ciomas District, Bogor Regency. The activity was carried out in December 2021. The method of community service activities carried out was the lecture method, discussion and demonstration of direct practice in the field. The results of this community service activity in Ciomas Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, show that there is a transfer of knowledge regarding the integration of bioaquaponics, biofloc technology, hydroponic systems, fish disease management, business development and group dynamics as well as demonstrations of the application and use of bioaquaponics. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test conducted before and after community service, there was an increase in the capacity and capability of the representation of ornamental fish cultivators, which increased by 50 percent on average. The ornamental fish farming business actors who represent the cultivating community in this activity also get new networks to strengthen the collaboration of the ornamental fish cultivator community, business people and universities. Thus, the expected output of activities in community service in Ciomas District, Bogor Regency, namely (i) an increase in knowledge of ornamental fish farmers regarding the integration of aquaculture systems with biofloc technology and aquaponics systems, (ii) increasing the quality and quantity of ornamental fish production, and (iii) an increase in the network of ornamental fish cultivators in Ciomas District, Bogor Regency, can be achieved.

Abstract

Spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus) is an invertebrate with a hard outer shell and is classified as part of the Arthropoda phylum. The study aims to determine the addition of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) to the cultivation medium on sand lobster's growth performance and survival. The study was conducted from April to August 2023 at the Vocational School of IPB University and Djuanda University, Bogor. The study used sand lobsters measuring 2.43 ± 0.25 cm in length, weighing 0.22 ± 0.04 g, and with a stocking density of 15 tails/aquarium. During the study, the lobsters were fed shrimp. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of K (control), AK20 (Dose 20 mg CaCO3/L), and AK40 (Dose 40 mg CaCO3/L). The parameters observed were Specific length growth rate (SLGR), Absolute length growth rate (ALG), Specific weight growth rate (SWGR), Absolute weight growth rate (AWG), and Survival rate (SR). The results showed significantly different results (P<0.05) for SGR and SGR, with the best results being AK20 treatment with an SGR of 1.03±0.32%/day, SGR of 3.46±0.69%/day, SGR of 0.54±0.17 cm, and SGR of 0.23±0.05g. Adding CaCO3 showed no significantly different results (P>0.05) in survival rate with a 73.33-100.00%. The due to internal factors, namely physiological conditions and genetic characteristics.

Abstract

Freshwater lobsters are one of the crustacean commodities that have started to be developed through cultivation. Besides having high nutritional value, freshwater lobsters have a stable sales value or price throughout the year. Freshwater lobster is a crustacean commodity that is not easily stressed or easily attacked by disease. The availability of calcium is essential for lobster growth, especially the formation of its shell. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of adding calcium carbonate at different time intervals by adding 150 mg/L CaCO3 lime. The study was conducted from June to July 2020 at the Aquaculture Environmental Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural Institute. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment used was K+ and K-, and the time interval for adding CaCO3 was once every five days, once every ten days, and once every 15 days. The aquarium measures 100 x 50 x 51 cm with a water height of 21 cm. The lobster used measures 1.5 cm. The research results after statistical testing showed that aquarium A1 (addition of CaCO3 every five days) experienced an increase in length of 0.67 cm. Weight of 0.67 g, B1 (addition of CaCO3 every ten days) experienced an increase in length of 0.87 cm and weight of 0.78 g, C1 (addition of CaCO3 every 15 days) experienced an increase in length of 0.97 cm and weight of 0.98 g, K+1 experienced an increase in length of 1.05 cm and weight of 1.06 gr, K-1 experienced an increase in length of 0.46 cm and weight of 0.45 g.

Abstract

Budidaya lobster air tawar (LAT) memiliki potensi besar untuk terus dikembangkan karena spesies ini memiliki toleransi tinggi terhadap perubahan lingkungan, tingkat pertumbuhan yang cepat, serta warna dan bentuk tubuh yang menarik. Karakteristik tersebut menjadikan LAT sebagai komoditas unggulan yang cocok untuk industri akuakultur, baik untuk pasar konsumsi maupun pasar hias. Namun, hingga saat ini, kegiatan budidaya perikanan dengan teknologi akuaponik di Gapoktan Bina Sejahtera belum pernah diterapkan. Anggota kelompok masih menggunakan teknologi budidaya ikan yang sederhana, sehingga hasil produksinya masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan dan keterampilan anggota Gapoktan Bina Sejahtera melalui penerapan teknologi akuaponik dalam budidaya lobster air tawar. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi penyuluhan dan praktik langsung budidaya lobster air tawar berbasis teknologi akuaponik, disertai pembangunan instalasi akuaponik di lokasi Gapoktan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa anggota Gapoktan mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan lebih dari 19% dalam aspek budidaya hidroponik, akuaponik, dan lobster air tawar. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga menghasilkan fasilitas budidaya lobster air tawar berbasis akuaponik yang dapat dimanfaatkan mitra secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Cyprinus rubrofuscus has high economic value as a freshwater ornamental fish, in demand in the international market. The growth of koi fish can be increased by adding probiotics to the feed. This addition can benefit fish health and water quality if given in the correct dose. This study was conducted to see the effect of different doses of probiotics in the feed on koi growth. The study was conducted from February 2023 to February 2024, with treatments administered from May 28 to July 7, 2023. The design was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) of four treatments (PB0, PB10, PB15, PB20) with three replications. The parameters measured included growth in length, weight, specific growth rate, and survival. At the end of the study, it was found that adding probiotic doses had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on weight, length, and specific growth rate, but did not affect survival. The PB15 dose gave the best results, with a weight gain of 0.46 ± 0.66 g and a particular growth rate of 1.88 ± 0.11% per day.

Abstract

Kegiatan pembenihan dan pembesaran lobster air tawar seringkali terkendala oleh rendahnya tingkat kelangsungan hidup. Salah satu penyebab utama adalah terbatasnya ketersediaan pakan berkualitas tinggi, khususnya yang mengandung protein tinggi, serta tingginya harga pakan komersial berbahan dasar tepung ikan. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah pemanfaatan maggot (larva lalat Black Soldier Fly) sebagai pakan alternatif dalam budidaya lobster air tawar berbasis sistem akuaponik. Pengembangan budidaya ini di Kabupaten Bogor diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, khususnya anggota Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan). Kegiatan Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) ini menargetkan agar anggota Gapoktan mampu memanfaatkan maggot sebagai pakan dalam budidaya lobster air tawar sistem akuaponik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta setelah kegiatan penyuluhan, yaitu ≥ 34% terkait pemanfaatan maggot, dan ≥ 47% terkait budidaya lobster air tawar sistem akuaponik. Peningkatan pengetahuan ini diharapkan menjadi dasar kemampuan anggota Gapoktan dalam menjalankan proses budidaya secara efektif dan berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, produktivitas lobster dan tanaman dalam sistem akuaponik dapat meningkat, serta berdampak positif terhadap pendapatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat.
