Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa pada pembelajaran biologi dengan socio scientific issues. Penelitian ini dilakukan di dua sekolah yaitu SMA N 1 Suranenggala dan SMA N 1 Sliyeg yang terdapat di provinsi Jawa Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan instrument tes berupa pretes dan postes, tes yang digunakan berupa tes uraian (essay) untuk mendapatkan data kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa pada materi pembelajaran biologi yang berkaitan dengan isu-isu sosial yang marak terjadi di masyarakat. Data diambil dengan sampel menggunakan uji statistik meliputi uji prasyarat dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa menggunakan strategi pembelajaran socio scientific issues.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and various obstacles of laboratory activities in junior high schools. The study employed the descriptive quantitative method. The subjects of the study were science teachers in 41 junior high schools representing 4 areas of the Natural Sciences Teachers' Consultative Assembly (MGMP IPA) in Jawa Barat Province. The instrument employed was a questionnaire. The technical analysis of the data was conducted by calculating the average percentage of each answer choice of each statement. This research reveals that 1) the students’ motivation for conducting laboratory activities is high; 2) the implementation of laboratory activities is conducted separately by employing theoretical classroom learning; 3) the source of guidance for laboratory activities is a model of cookbook laboratory; and 4) some obstacles in laboratory activities include insufficient laboratory spaces, less standardized and insufficient number of most equipment, the availability of manuals for laboratory activities, insufficient instructions to use laboratory equipment, and teachers’ difficulties in designing, implementing, and evaluating laboratory activities. It is concluded that in general teachers and students are very enthusiastic about conducting laboratory activities in science learning, but they still have several constraints, especially in the available infrastructures.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan calon guru dalam menghasilkan ensiklopediaberbasis bioedupreneurship melalui pembelajaran berbasis proyek dengan pemanfaatan potensi lokal.Ensiklopedia merupakan salah satu bentuk media cetak.Kemampuan calon guru sains dalam membuat media pembelajaran sains mutlak dibutuhkan.Sebagaimana diketahui bahwa media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu perantara dalam penyampaian materi pelajaran.Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Jurusan IPA Biologi IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon dengan sasaran mahasiswa semester VII yang berjumlah 36 orang.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa mahasiswa mampu menghasilkan ensiklopediaberbasis bioedupreneurship kategori baik dengan rata-rata skor 85. 89. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah melalui pembelajaran berbasis proyek mampu mengembangkan kemampuan calon guru dalam menghasilkan ensiklopedia pembelajaran sains berbasis bioedupreneurship.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep fisika dan mengakses keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa tadris biologi melalui metode field trip. Metode penelitian menggunakan eksperimen quasi dengan pretest-postest control group. Sampel penelitian ini mahasiswa tadris biologi A dan B semester 1 IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal tes dan lembar penilaian keterampilan proses sains. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman konsep fisika mahasiswa kelas eksperimen berbeda signifikan dengan kelas kontrol.  Kemampuan pemahaman konsep kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dari pada kemampuan keterampilan kelas kontol. Metode field trip dapat mengakses keterampilan proses sains.

Abstract

Currently all alternatives to meet the needs of life in various contexts are based on knowledge. Developing critical thinking skills is an important aspect of academic studies. Inquiry-based learning is a contextual learning model that can make students participate actively during learning. The purpose of this study was to review the effectiveness of the application of the inquiry-collaborating constructivism model in biology learning. The type of research conducted was a quantitative approach through pre-experimental methods. The design of this research was One-group pre-test-post-test design. This research was carried out at SMAN 1 Jamblang precisely in class XI MIPA in the even semester of the 2019-2020 school year. The instruments used were observation sheets and test questions. The results of the average value of the student activity showed results with very good criteria for each meeting. Based on the hypothesis test, it was known that the 2-tailed significance was < 0.05. This indicated that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores after the application of the inquiry-collaborating constructivism learning model. The application of the inquiry-collaborating constructivism model was considered effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Multiple Skills Laboratory Activities Model (MSLAM), which can train and develop students' 4C skills (critical, creative, communication, and collaboration) through laboratory activities. This study used the Research and Development method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. There are 70 students ─ 18 males and 52 females ─ who participate in this research. The research instrument consisted of expert validation sheets, tests, and performance assessments. The Likert and Guttmann scale analyzed the MSLAM validation sheet. The test results were analyzed using a normalized gain score <g>, and the performance assessment was analyzed using a Likert scale. The results of expert validation show that MSLAM is very feasible to be implemented in laboratory activities. The test results showed an increase in students' critical and creative thinking skills in the MSLAM group were greater than in the Higher Order Thinking Laboratory/HOT Lab group. Students' communication and collaborative skills in the MSLAM group were greater than in the HOT Lab group. These results indicate that the MSLAM model developed can improve students' 4C skills through laboratory activities. Thus, the MSLAM can be applied in physics learning to develop students' various higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

One example of an integrative approach in learning is the integration of Islamic values in Biology learning. This article describes and analyzes the influence of Islamic values in Biology learning. The results of the study are a summary of the available empirical evidence about the effect of integrating Islamic values in Biology learning. This study uses a meta-analysis method, the articles analyzed are 15 articles that meet the requirements of 57 articles that have an integrative approach to Islamic values. The results showed that the integration of Islamic values in Biology learning had a large effect with an effect size of 3.50. For education level, the largest effect size is at the high school education level (3.74), for the provision of action the largest effect size is for the Hypno-teaching method (5.13), for the use of the dependent variable the largest effect size is on the dependent variable mastery of concepts (4.70), while for Biology material, the largest effect size is on the material of the reproductive system (5,08). The results of the research as a whole conclude that the integrative approach of Islamic values in biology learning is effective for use, especially at the high school level, in the Hypno-teaching method, in mastering concepts, and reproductive system materials.

Abstract

The research aimed to1) find out the expedience of physics Subject-Specific Pedagogy (SSP) based on the problem solving, and 2) improve the science process skills and problem-solving ability of grade X students of SMA N 7 Yogyakarta in electricity subject using the physics SSP based on the problem-solving. The particular research was a research and development using the 4-D development model consisting of 1) define, 2) design, 3) development, and 4) dissemination. The developed SSP was tested in a limited and extensive field trial. The sample of the limited field trial was 15 students, while in the extensive field trial consisted of 30 students in the control class and 29 students in the experimental class. The statistical analysis used multivariate analysis. The results were 1) The developed SSP, in terms of the syllabus, Lesson Plan, and worksheet, was in the excellent category, while the science process skills instrument test, problem-solving instrument test, and the textbook were in a good category, 2) The implementation of SSP for physics learning based on a problem solving had significant effect on improving the students science process skills and problem solving ability. The result of the multivariate test showed a significantly different effect between students that learn using the physics SSP based on the problem solving and students learn using the physics SSP based on the conventional model.

Abstract

Students’ limited learning resources result in low scientific literacy ability. Therefore, additional interesting learning resources are needed to improve the students’ scientific literacy skills. One of the appropriate learning resources is BioMagz with an approach to socio-scientific issues. This research focuses on the material of environmental changes. This study aims to: (1) develop BioMagz with an approach to socio-scientific issues to improve the scientific literacy of environmental changes and (2) apply BioMagz with an approach to socio-scientific issues to increase the scientific literacy of environmental change materials. This development research employed the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, Implementation, and evaluation) and was conducted at SMAN 1 Kadipaten. The experts’ validation and students’ responses show that the BioMagz with an approach to socio-scientific issues has a score of more than 86%. It concludes that BioMagz with an approach to socio-scientific issues is very feasibly implemented in learning. The hypothesis test on the scientific literacy ability variable has obtained a significant value of less than 0.005. This score indicates that H0 is rejected and the use of BioMagz with an approach to socio-scientific issues in learning can increase students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

Smartphone applications have been widely used in everyday life, not least in the world of education. The use of smartphone applications in improving the quality of learning has become a trend and is widely used by educators. The use of smartphones in learning is dominated by the implementation of regular learning and is still lacking in the laboratory's implementation. This study aimed to determine the use of smartphone applications in laboratory activities in developing students' scientific communication skills. The research method used was the quantitative descriptive method. The research sample was a fifth-semester physics education study program student who contracted the school physics laboratory course. The smartphone application used in laboratory activities in this study consists of a physics toolbox and tracker. Physics toolbox is an application whose working principle is based on sensors. Students use the tracker to make graphs from videos that illustrate activities laboratory. The research instrument used was a performance assessment in the form of a scientific communication skill observation sheet. The data analysis technique was done by calculating the percentage of achievement of students' scientific communication skills. The results showed that smartphone applications could develop students' scientific communication skills in a good category. Thus, smartphone applications in laboratory activities can develop one of the skills needed by students in facing the era of industrial revolution 4.0.
