Abstract

This community service activity is carried out to help women in the Dasawisma group RT 03 RW 06 Mulyorejo Village Malang City who have difficulty controlling pests during the practice of cultivating vegetables in their home gardens and vacant lands in their neighborhood. This community service program aims to provide skills to the women of the Dasawisma group in making natural pesticides or biocides to control pests that often attack vegetable crops. The approach method used is training in making tobacco-based biocides and mentoring the application of biocides on some cultivated vegetable crops. The stages of implementing the activities include (1) preparation of tools and materials; (2) Training on making biocides; (3) Assistance in the biocide fermentation process; 4) assistance in the application of biocides to vegetable crops. The results of the community service implementation showed that the women in the Dasawisma group were able to make tobacco-based biocides from fermented products. Application technique by spraying all parts of the plant organs with intervals of spraying biocides three times a week, effective in protecting vegetables during the plant maintenance period. This can be seen from the yield of about 80% of the harvested vegetables that are protected from damage due to pest attacks.

Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of providing Dayak onion harvest waste compost and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) to increase the growth and yield of pak choy in inland peat soil. The method used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), a 4x4 factorial pattern, and 3 replications. First factor=Dayak onion harvest waste compost (0, 10, 20, 30 ton ha-1). Second factor dose (0, 2, 4, 6 ton ha-1). The interaction treatment of the waste compost at a dose of 20 tons ha-1 and AMF at a dose of 6 tons ha-1 had a significant effect on the growth of the number of leaves at 21 DAS. The waste compost at a dose of 30 tons ha-1 and AMF at a dose of 4 tons ha-1 had a significant effect on plant dry weight. Providing the waste compost at a dose of 30 tons ha-1 had a significant effect over other treatments. At a dose of 20 tons ha-1, it had a significant effect on root length. AMF did not differ significantly in plant height, number of leaves at 14, 21, and 28 DAS, leaf area, plant fresh weight, and plant dry weight. Abstract

ABSTRACTCalcareous soil has low nutrient levels, so soil amendments are needed for vegetable crop production. This experiment aims to obtain the optimal combination of organic materials and NPK fertilizer percentage for kailan production in calcareous soil. The experiment was carried out with a factorial randomized block design. Factor 1 is the type of organic material, namely: calcareous soil only (B0); husk charcoal (B1); cow manure (B2); compost (B3); cocopeat (B4); and sawdust (B5). Factor 2 is the percentage of NPK fertilizer from the recommended dose, namely NPK 25% (N1); NPK 50% (N2); NPK 75% (N3); NPK 100% (N4). The observation data was analyzed for variance and a least significant difference test (BNT) at the 5% level was carried out if there was a real effect of treatment. The results of the research showed that Kailan planted in calcareous soil mixed with cow manure and compost combined with NPK fertilizer at a dose of 50%, 75% or 100% and treated without organic material but given 75% or 100% NPK fertilizer produced fresh weight. kailan plants of the same weight.

Abstract

Most of the people in Dadapan Village have yards that have not been utilized optimally. The community also does not know the techniques for cultivating vegetable plants in the yard to fulfill household scale food security programs. This community service program aims to empower the community in Dadapan village, especially women from the PKK and Karang Taruna through the use of yard land for the production of vegetable crops. The implementation method applied is training in simple hydroponic vegetable farming which is carried out through the Real Work Lecture program. The activity stages begin with coordinating the implementation of the program with community leaders, training activities and practice of installing a hydroponic wick system in the yard. The results of the training activities showed that the community, especially PKK women and members of youth organizations, were able to cultivate vegetable plants in their yards using the wick system hydroponic planting technique. The wick system hydroponic planting technique is very popular with PKK women and youth organizations because the materials and equipment used are very easy to obtain, economical and easy to apply in the home garden. The practice of cultivating vegetables in the home yard using a hydroponic system can support the fulfillment of vegetable needs at the household level, supported by intensive maintenance of vegetable plants so that the home yard becomes more productive

Abstract

Okra is a healthy vegetable and medication. Growing okra on an organic medium and adding charcoal may boost output. Okra plant growth metrics and yields will be examined about the organic growing medium and biochar dose. The study was place in March 2021 at Sekarpuro Village, Pakis District, Malang Regency. This study employed a factorial Randomised Block Design (RAK) with two factors: Organic Planting Media and Biochar dose. Plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), number of crop fruits (fruit), fruit weight per plant (grammes), fruit diameter, length, and bar weight are observation metrics—analysis of variance using ANOVA and BNT 5% difference test. The study found that 7.5 tons/ha of manure and 10 tons/ha of coconut fibre biochar naturally increased okra plant growth and output. Fruit and stem weights also varied with planting medium and charcoal. The finding is that organic growing medium treatment and biochar dose affect okra plant development.
