Abstract

Pain is a prevalent symptom among cancer patients, accompanied by fatigue, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and depression. Aromatherapy, a non-pharmacological method, can safely reduce pain without negative side effects. It involves the use of essential oils as therapeutic agents, absorbed through the skin or olfactory system. This study aims to evaluate the impact of aromatherapy on pain reduction in colorectal cancer patients. This study uses a scoping review methodology based on PRISMA guidelines. The review encompasses three databases: PubMed, Sage, and ScienceDirect, covering the period from 2019 to 2024. Specific search terms were utilized based on inclusion criteria for article selection. Out of 2403 research articles, six were chosen after screening abstracts and full texts to identify studies meeting the inclusion criteria. The analysis identified various types of aroma therapy used for pain reduction. The studies reviewed indicated that aromatherapy was administered through massage and inhalation using essential oils like lavender, lemon, peppermint, geranium, and others. Aromatherapy showed significant positive effects in reducing pain compared to placebo or usual care control groups, as measured by the visual analog scale (VAS). The study's findings suggest that aromatherapy effectively reduces stress, depression, and pain perception in patients with colorectal cancer.   Keywords:  Aroma therapy; Colorectal Cancer; Pain

Abstract

Children as the nation's generation are a very important asset. Children have the potential to be human resources who will hold the journey of the Indonesian nation in the next few years. Violence prevention education can be provided as early as possible starting from preschool age. Preschool-aged children have a large amount of information at their disposal in a short period of time. The purpose of this activity is to provide education about the prevention of violence against children at the Yauma Orphanage, so that children and caregivers understand the forms of violence, how to prevent it, and create a safe environment for child development by measuring changes before and after the intervention. Pre-test and post-test, which calculate mean values and variations for each condition, are used to evaluate students' knowledge. Pareto analysis was also used to calculate the percentage increase in knowledge with the result of increasing child mobilization with an N-Gain score of 65.09961, the program showed that an educational approach that included pre-test and post-test increased students' knowledge about sexual violence prevention. As evidence of the success of this intervention, the pre and post results showed an increase in student knowledge of up to 85%. The program not only raises health awareness, but also teaches students more about how to apply violence to children in daily life. The conclusion in this activity can increase the health awareness of students at the Kemayoran Orphanage and Dhuafa Orphanage, Central Jakarta.

Abstract

The world is currently in a humanitarian crisis, with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic creating a negative stigma in society toward people infected with COVID-19. Breastfeeding mothers are among the vulnerable groups, and they are not without stigma. The purpose of this study is to investigate the experiences of breastfeeding mothers who are positive for COVID-19 in carrying out self-quarantine. This qualitative study employs a phenomenological approach with a snowball sample selection. This research used a semi-structured approach to conduct in-depth interview. This study reached saturation in fifteen participants. Four themes appear related to  keeping a positive COVID-19 status secret was the best decision for safety. Themes that emerged from this research was that keeping a positive COVID-19 status secret was the best decision for safety. This theme emerges from the decision to keep it hidden as well as the reasons for doing so. The decision to keep it hidden was deemed appropriate in order to avoid the negative stigma that could lead to ostracization and blame from the community, family, and health workers.

Abstract

Lung cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, with 2.21 million cases and 1.80 million deaths globally in 2020. In Indonesia, lung cancer is the third most common cancer with 34,783 cases in 2018. The five-year survival rate is very low, especially in advanced stages. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is becoming increasingly popular among cancer patients as an adjunct to conventional therapy. This study aims to systematically review the impact of complementary and alternative therapies on lung cancer patients, evaluating the additional benefits of CAM in the treatment of lung cancer patients. This study employs a systematic review method, gathering data from scientific journals, clinical reports, and related publications, including PubMed, Science Direct, and SageJournal. The inclusion criteria were original research articles published in English between 2014 and 2024. Based on the search results, only 5 articles met the analysis criteria. The study shows that Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM), Laughter Yoga, and Press Needling can improve the quality of life for lung cancer patients. CHM increases progression-free survival (PFS) and reduces chemotherapy side effects. Laughter Yoga reduces stress and enhances mental health. Press Needling decreases postoperative pain and pulmonary complications. Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) improves progression-free survival and overall survival (OS) for lung cancer patients, reduces chemotherapy side effects, and enhances quality of life without causing significant additional toxicity. CHM is widely accessible with insurance coverage, but interactions with modern medicine must be monitored.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The leading cause of mortality for women is breast cancer, a common illness. In the world, approximately a million new cases are found each year. The rising incidence of this disease is caused by a number of risk factors, including age, genetics, and lifestyle choices. The government-sponsored breast self-examination (BSE) program is one method of early breast cancer detection. Despite the program's effectiveness, minimal participation persists. Based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) paradigm, research has demonstrated improvements in health behaviors like BSE. Systematically identify and analyze various literature regarding the effectiveness of using interventions based on the Health Belief Model theory on BSE practice behavior for women. This research uses a systematic review method, collecting data from scientific journals, clinical reports, and other related publications, namely Pubmed, Science Direct, Sagejournal. The inclusion criteria set are original research articles, in English and published within the 2014-2024 period. The sample used in this research ranged in age from 16-80 years and was conducted on women. Based on the search results, 6 articles were found that met the inclusion criteria. The articles obtained prove that the use of HBM-based interventions is effective in increasing knowledge, perceptions, skills, and in some cases, behavior related to BSE practice. HBM-based interventions are effective in increasing BSE knowledge and skills, but behavior change requires long-term support. Mass and visual media are also effective in increasing awareness. Keywords: Breast Cancer, BSE, Health Belief Model, Women  ABSTRAK Penyebab utama kematian perempuan adalah kanker payudara, penyakit yang umum.
