Abstract

One of the essential skills in teaching English is pronunciation. The listener will only understand the speaker if their pronunciation is correct. Applying English pronunciation instructions to students is an integral part of the language. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the podcast which contains relevant and authentic content for global listening comprehension in language learning. As a technological tool, the “British Council” podcast was integrated for learning English pronunciation at English Education in Universitas Borneo Tarakan. This pre-experimental study involved one class of third-semester students who previously learned pronunciation. Because the calculated Z value was less than the -Z table (-4.809 -1.960) and the p-value was less than (0.000 0.050), the decision was made to reject H0, indicating an average significant difference between the pre-test and post-test based on the measured pronunciation. It presented that integrating the podcast shaped students’ pronunciation and made them more confident. This study sheds light on the role of digital media in determining students' pronunciation and language development. It also provides teachers with alternative media for learning pronunciation in and outside of the classroom.

Abstract

Indonesia tergolong negara yang memiliki budaya literasi rendah. Literasi apabila dikaji secara mendalam tidak hanya diartikan sebagai literate (melek hurup), tetapi juga diartikan sebagai praktik-praktik dalam sebuah situasi sosial, sejarah dan budaya dalam rangka menciptakan dan mengartikan (interprete) makna melalui teks. Literasi memiliki peran yang penting baik bagi kehidupan pribadi, masyarakat juga bagi negara, sehingga gerakan literasi perlu diupayakan oleh semua pihak baik secara individu, secara berkelompok maupun secara nasional melalui instrumen kebijakan literasi nasional. Atas dasar pentingnya meningkatkan literasi masyarakat sekaligus menjadikan literasi sebagai sebuah budaya, maka dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat pengabdi menyusun rencana gerakan literasi perdesaan sebagai salah satu program yang didasarkan atas kewajiban kalangan akademisi untuk turut serta menjadikan literasi sebagai budaya yang ada di masyarakat perdesaan dalam Program Cyber Literasi. Diharapkan dengan adanya program tersebut dapat meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat Desa Barembeng akan pentingnya budaya literasi. Selain itu diharapkan dengan adanya program Cyber LIterasi berbagai kegiatan dalam program gerakan literasi perdesaan tidak hanya mampu mendorong dan memfasilitasi masyarakat dalam konteks pembangunan infrastruktur semata, tetapi juga mampu berkontribusi dalam bentuk social capital yang diharapkan akan memberikan manfaat dalam waktu yang lama. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah: (1) Adanya Program Aku Cinta Literasi melalui Program Cyber Literasi, dan (2), Peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat desa Berembeng akan pentingnya budaya literasi guna meningkatkan minat akan literasi sehinggan pemahaman, intelekktualitas semakin bertambah..

Abstract

Pemenuhan kebutuhan gizi bayi 0-6 bulan melalui Air Susu Ibu (ASI) bagi bayi dengan ASI eksklusif mejadi isu penting di Desa Barembeng Kec. Bontononpo Kab Gowa. Salah satu usaha untuk memperbaiki gizi ibu menyusui salah satunya dengan mengkonsumsi makanan tambahan. Tanaman kelor (Moringa oleifera) merupakan bahan makanan lokal yang memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan dalam kuliner ibu menyusui sebagai makanan tambahan, karena mengandung senyawa fitosterol yang berfungsi meningkatkan dan memperlancar produksi ASI (efek laktagogum). Masyarakat Sulawesi Selatan pada umumnya dan Desa Barembeng pada khususnya sudah sejak lama mengenal tumbuhan kelor sebagai makanan yang dapat diolah sebagai makanan sehari-hari sebagai lauk pelengkap. Sayangnya masyarakat sekitar belum seluruhnya mengetahui bagaimana mengelolah tumbuhan kelor ini menjadi olahan bahan pangan lainnya. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan daun kelor menjadi sebagai alternatif makanan bagi ibu menyusui, bisa menjadi solusi yang paling tepat bagi masyarakat khususnya ibu menyusui dalam meningkatkan produksi ASI sehingga anak bayi yang ada di Desa Barembeng dapat memperoleh peningkatan kualitas gizi). Luaran yang diharapkan dapat terwujud dari kegiatan ini adalah: 1) Kualitas Gizi Bayi semakin meningkat dengan adanya Alternatif Makanan Penambah ASI bagi ibu meyusui yaitu ASI Booster Non MSG, 2) Masyarakat dapat memanfaatkan daun kelor sebagai bahan baku pengolahan makanan alternative ASI Booster Non MSG, 3) Dapat mengembangkan dan memberdayakan masyarakat desa secara mandiri dan berkesinambungan untuk menggunakan bahan alternative dari tumbuhan kelor, 4) Meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat Desa melalui teknologi pengolahan bahan pangan/makanan.

Abstract

Teaching and learning process in the classroom will run well when the learning process uses the good method. One of the method that can be applied in the classroom is using technology such as podcast. The aim of this research is to discover the effectiveness of using English Video Podcast in improving the students’ listening comprehension of eight-ninth students of SMP Advent Makassar. This research is applied by using a mix method approach, specifically the researcher applied quasi-experimental research design, and the data analysis was done by statistical description. And the based on the researcher findings, the use of English video podcast can be effective learning media to improve students’ listening comprehension. It can be seen there was increasing from the data of Pre-Test to the Post-test after the teacher gave the treatment to the experimental group. Before the treatment was given the students’ mean score for the experimental group on the pre test is 56.50 and after the treatment was given the students’ mean score is 78.50. It means that the using of podcast has improved students’ listening comprehension. The result was improved. It is supported by some previous study that also has a positive effect by using a podcast in teaching listening. And based on the questionnaire and the interview given the result showed positive impact of using English video podcast in improving listening comprehension.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze whether these digital skills are able to solve students' problems. Perceptions of students about digital literacy XI OTKP SMK Darussalam Makassar. This research is a qualitative research. data collection technique by using a interview and giving a questionnaire. The researcher took 19 students of class XI OTKP SMK Darussalam Makassar as research subjects.  the researcher use questionnaire for 19 students to know about the survey in the impact digital literacy for resolve learning problems. The interview for the 7 students, to know about the students’ perception about the Digital literacy in learning process. the student statements above, concluded that digital literacy in education has a positive impact on students, easy access to various kinds of information needed to solve problems,  becomes a new habit for students, namely seeking information not only from textbooks or from teachers. Students also become more critical and communicate a lot with their friends about the information they get. Based on the results of the interviews that have been conducted, students answered that the teacher is the main aspect that must provide a comfortable situation in the classroom. This proves that the role of parents and teachers is very important at this stage and Students’ statements also express positive things about digital literacy in their learning process

Abstract

The research aimed at describing how Teachers’ Beliefs and Practices in Applying Learning Management System Aksara (LMSA) For E-Learning. In order to achieve the aims, the researcher designed three main objectives: to find out how is teachers’ belief in applying Learning Management System Aksara (LMSA) for e-learning, how is teachers’ practice in applying Learning Management System Aksara (LMSA) for e-learning and analysing some discrepancies between teachers’ beliefs and practices in applying Learning Management System Aksara (LMSA) for e-leraning. The researcher applied the mix method. The samples were chosen purposively from 30 teachers at Universitas Bosowa. The data analyzed was in quantitative and qualitative research involved analyzing and observing data dependably and accurately. The result of questionnaire showed that the that the teachers’ are firmly believes that LMSA Unibos can be apllied for e-learning at Universitas Bosowa. The result of observation related to the teachers’ practices in applying LMSA Unibos for e-learning at Universitas Bosowa shown that most of the respondents’ do not active in using LMSA unibos in each meeting for E-Learning. In other words, we can conclude that only a few respondents use LMS Aksara Unibos for E-Learning process at Bosowa University. After comparing both data, the reseracher concluded there are discrepancies or gap between teachers’ beliefs and practices in applying LMSA Unibos for e-learning, for the reason that questionnaire result classified as a very high level of teachers’ believes that LMSA Unibos can be apllied for e-learning at Universitas Bosowa but observation result found that most of respondents who have answered the questionnaire do not uploaded their learning material into their LMS Aksara account. In other words, the process of using applying LMSA Unibos for e-learning in the learning process at Universitas Bosowa is not optimal

Abstract

The objective of the research is to know Introvert and Extrovert students in learning speaking in SMAN 18 Makassar. This research used qualitative method with phenomenology design. This research conducted in two steps such as questionnaire and interview test. The sample of this research is XII IPA-4 there are 13 students as respondents. The data collecting by using questionnaire and interview test. After conducted the research, the writer concludes that there is no effect of students’ personality in learning speaking. It was proved by the result of the questionnaire and interview test which there are eight students that has introvert personality and five students that has extrovert personality, and according to the interview test that given, most of the students has the same way in learning speaking which is watching movie, reading book, and listening to the songs. Therefore, according to the result of the research, the personality of introvert and extrovert students in SMAN 18 Makassar is not affected on their way in learning speaking. In addition, after this research, students can identified their personalities based on the questionnaires that given

Abstract

The objective of the research was to know the use of song quizzes through ESOL Course website to improve students’? listening skill in a creatively learning methods. This research used experimental method. This research conducted in three steps namely as pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The population of this research was Class XI at the First Semester of SMAN 18 Makassar in 2022/2023 academic year and sample of this research is Class XI IPA 1 with number of students are 35 students. Data collected by using pre-test, treatment, and post-test. After conducted this research, the researcher concludes that using song quizzes through ESOL Course website improve students’? listening skill. It is proved by the mean score of the students in pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The mean score of the pre-test was 67.40, and the post-test students? score was 82.37. it shows that there is a different between students mean score in pre-test and post-test. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that using song quizzes through ESOL Course website greatly influences to improve students’? listening skill at eleventh grade of SMAN 18 Makassar

Abstract

This study aimed to know the effect of the flipped classroom model on students' writing skill in class XI SMA Negeri 18 Makassar. This study focused on pre-experimental research one group pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were students of class XI SMAN 18 Makassar. The writer took 270 students as the population. Random sampling technique was used to take one class as the research sample, totaling 30 students. Data obtained from writing test. The results of this study used inferential analysis of the t-test by SPSS v.16, which showed a significant effect on the students’ mean score writing skill between the pretest and post-test. The mean score of the students’ writing enhanced from 52.33 in the pretest to 82.03 in the posttest. The significance value calculated 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 (P-value = 0.000 < 0.05). This study aims to determine whether the use of the Dailymotion Application as a learning media can improve students listening skill of eleven grade at SMA Negeri 4 Makassar. This study uses a pre-experimental research method in one class pre-test and post-test. The population of this research is the eleven grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Makassar in the academic year 2022/2023. The number of samples 30 students from class XI-8. Data obtained from listening test. The results were analyzed using the inferential t-test of the SPSS 22.0 application. And after doing research, the researcher concludes that the use of the Dailymotion Application as a learning media can improve students' listening skill. This can be proven by obtaining scores based on the students' pretest and post-test. The mean score increased from 60.83 on the pre-test to 88.30 on the post-test. This shows that the H? hypothesis is accepted and of course the H? hypothesis is rejected. This means that the Dailymotion application can improve the listening skill of students in the eleven grade of SMA Negeri 4 Makassar

Abstract

This research focuses on the students' English vocabulary mastery through wise quotes. The purpose of this research was to find out whether with wise quotes, students' vocabulary understanding will increase or not. This research used a pre-experimental research method by giving a pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research is class VIII.7 SMP Negeri 35 Makassar in the academic year 2021/2022, totaling 20 people. This research uses SPSS v.16 which can show the results of the analysis of a significant increase in test scores and can prove the influence of this research. The results of this study indicate that the significance value is 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05, which means that this research has a significant effect. Therefore, it can be concluded that wise quotes have an increasing effect on students' vocabulary comprehension, and it can be seen that through wise quotes, students can become more motivated in the learning process.
