Abstract

This study aimed to determine the use of the Total Physical response method (TPR) through tiktok as a learning media to improve students' listening skill at SMAN  18 Makassar. The research used pre-experimental research method. The population of this research was eleventh grade students of SMAN 18 Makassar at first semester academic year 2023/2024. The number of the sample were 33 students. The research collected the data by giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data of this research was analyzed by SPSS 25 version. The researcher concluded that there was a significant improvement in students' listening skills by using the Total Physical Response (TPR) Method through Tiktok as a learning medium. This is supported by the results of the average scores in the pre-test and post-test. The average score on the pre-test was 55.45, while on the post-test was 84.70. The significant value in this study is 0.000 which is smaller than 0.5. This means that there is a significant improvement in students' listening skills with the Total Physical Response (TPR) Method through Tiktok as a Learning Media

Abstract

Tiwi Arisca Aguisty Lowu, 2023. Implementation of Ice Breaking in Speaking Skill at SMA Kartika XX-1 Makassar. Skripsi, English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Education and Literature, Bosowa University (Supervised by Andi Hamzah Fansury and Rampeng). This study aimed to find out whether the implementation of Ice Breaking improve the student speaking skill. This study focused on pre-experimental research one group pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were students of class X MIPA 4 SMA Kartika XX-1 Makassar and it consist of 20 students as the population. Data obtained from writing test pre-test, treatment, post-test, and questionnaire. The results of this study used inferential analysis of the t-test by SPSS 25 version which showed a significant effect on the students? mean score speaking skill between the pretest and post-test. The mean score of the students? speaking enhanced from 40.60 in the pretest to 72.60 in the posttest. The significance value calculated 0.000 was smaller than 0.05 (P-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that there are significant influences of using Ice Breaking method on students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

The focus of this study to investigate the satisfaction on learning EFL based on students’ perception to work mechanism of English teacher. Qualitative method used in this research. There were 360 students from some senior high school in Makassar as population in this research with total number of samples were 30 students taken by using purposive sample. The research instruments were interview, and questionnaire. The work Mechanism of English teacher has walked better. That can be analyzed by pursuant of data field from students’ perception that English teacher in bringing the materials have used assorted of method, using planning in teaching, owning ability to manage the class better, and discipline in running the duty. But based on the data obtained in the field, there are still some teachers using conventional methods that make students feel bored in class. After conducted this research, it is expected that the policies of stakeholders, especially in schools so that in the future the learning process will run better and the quality of teachers will be better so that the output obtained is far better than before

Abstract

The implementation of this training is in partnership with SMPN 2 Sesean students in the south Pangli district, Sesean district. This training aimed to introduce AI writing tools to the target partners so that their writing skills in English could develop. The team did their training because leaving the problem of secondary school students Sesean had not yet been interested in writing tools because junior high school students had not yet been required to master and apply their special writing skills in English. PKM activities are conducted with preparation, socialization, training and counseling, and evaluation. As for the results of a training program involving ten students: (1) Students can be able to use ai writing tools (Quilbot and Grammarly), (2) Students can draw on artificial intelligence writing technology in English writing tools, (3) Students can develop their writing ability by using ai writing tools until their writing skills can be more optimal and can be applied to further education.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out how the implement scientific approach to improve ability on speaking skill at SMA Negeri 18 Makassar. The method used in this research was quantitave experimental research with one group pre-test post-test research design. Speaking test was used as the instruments of collecting the data. The sample of this research were the second grade with 20 students. The result of data analysis showed that there was an enhancement speaking skills of fluency and pronunciation through the implementation scientific approach. The mean score of the students increased from 44.75 and the pre test to 76,25 on the post test. Based on the result of data analysis, the writer concludes that there was an enhancement after implementing the scientifict approach on speaking skill in second grade at SMA Negeri 18 Makassar.

Abstract

Digital Content Assisted Language Learning (DCALL) is a new form of learning in the digital era recently. DCALL is a content-based learning digital in the form of writings, images, videos, and authentic material obtained from various sources such as the internet, social media, blogs, email, vlogs, television and so on used to simplify the teaching and learning process. This research aimed to developing the mobile application named Fans to English Application through Digital Content Assisted Language Learning (DCALL). This research used the steps in the combined model of the R D model and the ADDIE model. The result showed that 1) the application contains material that easier to understand, using audio or video using Indonesian speakers, and interactive exercise so the students can improve speaking skills, and synergizes with the existing curriculum 2) The process of developing Fans to English Application used the android studio application. In the process of making the application, all components, made using Levidio software. 3) The result of beta test was the application can improve students' speaking skills. At this stage the author also shows the practicality of the Fans to English application as digital content assisted language learning where this application can be integrated on various digital platforms.

Abstract

Technology in the learning process can assist in providing teaching materials to students, making it easier for students, teachers, and parents to react whenever and wherever they are; facilitate and assist in the preparation of materials sourced from the internet; as well as assist in simulating, visualizing the learning process in a structured, processed, and scientific manner. This research analyzed the student's need to develop the mobile application. This research used the steps in the combined research and development (RD) and analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate (ADDIE) models. The study was conducted in Makassar, and the research subject was the students at Junior High School, with 100 randomly selected participants. The data were analyzed descriptively using interviews, observations, and participant questionnaires. The result showed that students need applications containing material that is easier to understand, using audio or video using Indonesian speakers, and interactive exercises so the students can improve their speaking skills. Based on the results of the questionnaire, the researcher synergized the school's existing curriculum with the needs analysis (N.A.) carried out by the researcher so that the results of this study would benefit the English as a foreign language (EFL) young learners, teachers, and stakeholders.

Abstract

In learning foreign languages, especially learning English, the use of digital technology is a necessity, aimed at overcoming the problems that often occur when the teaching and learning process takes place, such as lack of lessons to increase student time in practising language skills, limitations of authentic learning material, and too many students' studies. The writer offers Digital Content Assisted Language Learning (DCALL) as a solution to teaching and learning English. Digital Content Assisted Language Learning (DCALL)is a new form of learning in the digital era recently. DCALL is a content-based learning digital in the form of writings, images, videos, and authentic material obtained from various sources such as the Internet, social media, blogs, email, vlogs, television and so on used to simplify the teaching and learning process. In this study, the researchers want to know the perceptions of teachers and students about Digital Content Assisted Language Learning (DCALL) on Fans to English applications. A qualitative study was applied in this study. The participants in this study were 100 students from secondary schools in Makassar. Questionnaires and interviews were used in this study to know about it. The result of this study was that teachers and students gave positive perceptions about implementing Digital Content Assisted Language Learning (DCALL) on Fans to English applications. Based on the evaluation results, the writer concludes that this application can be used in learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to Improve Students Writing Skill At SMA Kartika XX-1 Makassar by using YouTube channel “Big Think”. This research used experimental method. This research was conducted in August 2023. This research was conducted in three steps these include pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The population in this study were students of X MIPA 1 SMA Kartika XX-1 Makassar consisting of 30 students and the writer took 30 sample students at X MIPA 1 SMA Kartika XX-1 Makassar. The results of this study that using “Big Think” channel improves students’ writing skills. It was supported by the result of mean score in pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-tests was 60.40 and is classified as poor. While the total mean score from the post-test is 89.63 and is classified as good. It means that implementation of the using “Big Think” channel on YouTube is effective to improve writing skill at students X MIPA SMA Kartika XX-1 Makassar.

Abstract

Mobile-assisted Language Learning (MALL) and IoT technology have revolutionized language learning approaches, bringing a new level of flexibility and accessibility to the field. Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) is a framework for enhancing teacher knowledge and teaching practices in educational contexts. It emphasizes the integration of teacher competencies and the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in language teaching and learning. Some technologies have been integrated into teaching and learning English and effectively enhance language learning experiences, improve language skills, and provide flexibility and accessibility in language education, reflecting a growing interest in leveraging mobile technologies to support EFL instruction, such as LMS, YouTube, podcasts and vodcasts, Kahoot, AI-powered technologies, digital whiteboards, and conferences. Teachers' attitudes, beliefs, and self-efficacy can inform professional development initiatives and instructional strategies for enhancing technology integration in educational settings
