Abstract

This paper involves researching, reading, analyzing, evaluating, and summarizing related scholarly literature about research methods used in teaching grammar, utilizing educational technology as one of the research learning sources for future related research. First, the reviewed scholarly article describes how the writers conducted their research. Then, using descriptive analysis, varieties of research methods in teaching grammar utilizing educational technology are investigated. Among the investigated research methods are quasi-experimental, phenomenology, ethnography, true experimental, pre-experimental, descriptive, mixed method of an exploratory study, mixed method of explanatory study, case study, survey method, classroom action research, and collaboration research. However, due to the limited space, the paper only describes popular methods of quantitative approach, including quasi-experimental, pre-experimental, true-experimental, survey studies. Besides, the qualitative approach involves case study, descriptive study, and phenomenology. Also, one of the most popular mixed-method used is explanatory study. The description of each method is supported by examples found in international and national journal articles published worldwide. This paper is expected to be beneficial to readers and researchers in English language teaching (ELT) worldwide.

Abstract

Writing is a complex process that draws on: our knowledge of the topic, our ability to anticipate what readers will need, our ability to logically organize information, our skill at finding the right words, our ability to evaluate our efforts, and the perseverance to keep working. In this research, the writer expected to find out strategy to reinvigorate students’ enthusiasm in writing. Design of the research is qualitative research. The writer interviewed the English teacher and students to knowing some information from her/him about enthusiasm in writing. Successful navigation frequently results in reinvigorating students' enthusiasm for writing even if they struggle with learning disabilities. Three basic skills clusters are essential for efficiency in written expression: Use of letter form, spacing and lines, use of writing mechanics within the process of written expression and Organized use of content: clearly expressing basic ideas, with elaboration Successful writers integrate the following sub-skills: General Sub-skills, Mechanical Sub-skills and Contextual Sub-skills

Abstract

The objectives of the research were (1) to find out the influence of Instagram on social behavior in using English of under graduate students (2) To find out the influence of Instagram on student’s motivation in using English and (3) To find out the students interest in using English on Instagram. The researcher applied mixed method namely triangulation mixed method design (QUAN-QUAL). The population of this research was the students of English Language Education Program FKIP Bosowa University Makassar. This research used purposive sampling. The sample of this research consisted of 40 students; 10 students from first semester and 10 students from third Semester, 10 Students from fifth semester and 10 students from seventh semester. The research data were collected by questionnaire which was analyzed by descriptive statistic through SPSS version 16 for windows program. The result of data analysis shown that College students had on social networking like Instagram may affect their social behavior. Instagram can encourage the students' motivation and attitudes towards learning English, and also increase interaction between teachers, students and others. Students’ interest in using English on Instagram. In using Instagram, the students are required to be active in using English to improve their ability

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to know the use of scrabble game can reinforce EFL Young Learners vocabulary. The writer was applied pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test. This research was conducted at SMPN 35 Makassar sub-district of Biringkanaya, Makassar city. In this research, the population was the seven grade students of SMPN 35 Makassar. The total numbers of population were 240 students. The researcher was used total sampling technique. The total number of samples was 30 students from class VII-1. In analyzing the numerical data, the writer used SPSS for windows. After conducted the research, the writer concludes that the use of Scramble Game in teaching English vocabulary enriches the students’ vocabulary; it is proved by the mean score of the students in pre-test and posttest. The mean score of the pre-test before the treatment was 57.40 and after the treatment the students gained score 74.67. The t-test of the students’ vocabulary achievement in posttest was smaller than ?. The researcher found that the p-value (probability value) was lower than ? (0.00 < 0.05) and the degree of freedom was 29. The t-test value of pre-test and post-test was remarked significantly different. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and, of course, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected.o learn autonomously and it is compulsory subject from the school.

Abstract

The role of smartphone in the field of education has become a major support for teachers and students in learning and teaching areas. Teachers and students have been helped a lot to access any sources to collect many information as much as they want through this technology. Smartphone provides many contents that can be read everywhere not only in the classroom such as journal, articles, e-books and any others. As a recent technology, smartphone offers valuable opportunities for teachers to create an effective strategy in teaching especially to attract students’ interest to read via smartphone. In this literature review, I would like to find and share the role of smartphone in triggering students reading skill. And the methodology that I would like to use is the qualitative method in which there will be some interviews in collecting the data. And reading through all the result of the interviews and drawing some connection between smartphone and reading skill to analyze the data, the participants are from VIII grade students of Makassar Adventist Junior High School. As a result, those students who are reading through digital text (smartphone) have unlimited access of information to enhance their reading skills than those who are not. Here the writer found out that smartphone plays a role in triggering students’ reading skill.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the integration of technology for students to learn collaboratively in practicing their speaking. This study took another possible way to use the google meet link through Google classroom to meet students and improve their speaking on different topics. This research applied a pre-experimental study. In semester six, the population was all students, English department Universitas Borneo Tarakan. Through random sampling, the samples were Class A consisting of 31 students. The instrument was a spoken test administered as a pre-test and post-test and speaking scoring rubric and the data on students’ speaking was analyzed using SPSS 17. The result showed the value of t-count greater than t-table (26 372> 2042), and a p-value less than α (0.000 <0.050) which means that there are significant differences between pre-and post-by-paired t speaking measured scoring. As a result, technology-based online collaborative learning can significantly increase the total score of students' speaking skills in English. This research was expected to contribute to the body of knowledge on how technology brought a change and opportunity to keep learning during pandemics and this study also tended to assist the students to improve their spoken language

Abstract

Most Indonesian students have a problem speaking English as their foreign language. Most researchers agreed that it is generally caused by the verbal-linguistic Intelligence of the students. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between students’ verbal – linguistic intelligence in their ability to speak English using digital media (audio visual) in classroom. The researcher used a systematic literature review (SLR) for the methodology of the study. Ten articles were presented to collect the data related to students’ verbal – linguistic intelligences and speaking skills. This study finds that students verbal – linguistic intelligence is an internal factor that has to be supported by the other internal factors and also some of external factors to determines the mastery of speaking skills

Abstract

This research is aimed to explore the students’ needs in learning speaking English and redesign the syllabus based on the students’ needs in order to improve the students’ skill in speaking English.The population of this research was the second semester students of English, Indonesian, Civic Education and Math Study Program in Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Bosowa University Makassar in 2021/2022 Academic Year which consisted of 40 students.The result of students’ questionnaires and interviews indicate that redesign syllabus is a must to fulfill the students’ need to give impacts to students’ achievement in learning

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi merupakan salah satu faktor yang ikut serta mempengaruhi perilaku peserta didik dalam belajar. Dalam Penelitian ini, penulis mencoba untuk membuat media pembelajaran yang menarik bagi siswa dan bisa digunakan tidak hanya pada jam pelajaran tetapi dimanapun dan kapanpun mereka dapat mengaksesmya. Salah satu media yang dapat digunakan yaitu Website. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan Model Pembelajaran berbasis Digital Content (Digital Content Assisted Language Learning) dalam pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis website. Penelitian ini menggunakan Research and Development dengan menggunakan ADDIE Model. Populasi dan sampel dari penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA di Kabupaten Tanah Toraja pada tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Prosedur pengembangan dibagi dalam lima tahap yaitu 1) Tahap analisis berupa studi pustaka dan studi lapangan dan Analisis kebutuhan, 2) Tahap desain, 3) Tahap pengembangan, 4) Tahap implementasi dan 5) Tahap Evaluasi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan dokumentasi dan angket yang dianalisa secara deskriptif dan statistik inferensial melalui program SPSS versi 22 untuk Windows. Hasil penelitian ini guru dapat menerapkan atau menggunakan media pembelajaran yang sesuai perkembangan zaman yaitu berbasis website yang dapat diakses oleh siswa bukan hanya dikelas melaikan dimana saja dan kapan saja. Dengan adanya Media pembelajaran berbasis website tersebut diiharapkan budaya literasi mahasiswa juga dapat meningkat

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out how to practice science learning for elementary school students using educational games that have been developed with the Gdevelop application. This goal is based on the stigma in the form of public perception that games have a negative impact on learning, as well as a lack of knowledge about using games or other digital learning tools in the classroom, which causes students to become more accustomed to learning using conventional teaching techniques. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method, and the instruments used were questionnaires and interviews using the data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman's model (Analysis Interactive Model). This research was conducted at SDN Lariang Bangi I, the number of respondents in this study were 23 students. The practicality of educational games is determined based on product trials and the responses of teachers and students to educational games. The results of this study indicate that there are (83%) students who agree that the use of educational games as learning media can make it easier for them to understand science learning material. In addition, based on the validation results, it shows that the teacher's assessment of the product is above 80% which indicates that the product is suitable for use in learning. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the use of educational games based on Gdevelop is considered very practical in its use.
