Abstract

In the digital era 4.0, the transformation of public management in the Islamic education sector faces challenges such as the lack of student data integration, inefficient manual reporting, and gaps between central policies and regional implementation, which hinder transparency, accountability, and data-based decision-making under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This study analyzes the role of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) as a strategic instrument to realize data-based governance in 707 madrasahs (mostly private) in Sidoarjo Regency, as well as to identify obstacles to its implementation. Using a descriptive-exploratory qualitative approach, this research involves purposive sampling of informants such as EMIS operators and madrasah principals. Primary data was collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation, while secondary data came from a review of relevant literature. Findings show that EMIS has successfully integrated key data on institutions, students, teachers, and infrastructure via a dashboard and structured data collection process, supporting the planning of BOS assistance and the development of madrasahs efficiently and in real-time. However, significant obstacles include limited digital infrastructure, low human resource capacity among operators, and weak regulatory coordination, resulting in data validity gaps.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategy for managing students' religious discipline at the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School in the Sunan Muria area. The main focus of the study is how the Islamic boarding school fosters and maintains consistent religious practices amidst the challenges of the digital era. A qualitative case study approach was used. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that religious discipline management is implemented through a combination of structural and cultural approaches. A flagship program, such as resettlement, is the primary strategy for addressing students experiencing a decline in religious discipline. Supervision is conducted in a multi-layered, community-based manner, coupled with habituation and role modeling. Local Islamic boarding school wisdom, such as the barzanji (prayer) and night deliberations (musyawarah malam), is also utilized as a means of internalizing disciplinary values. This study concludes that the management of religious discipline not only fosters formal compliance but also fosters a deep and sustainable religious awareness.

Abstract

Culture is a representation that reflects the character and identity of a community. One of the traditions that continues to exist amid the strong influence of modernization is Begawi Cakak Pepadun, a customary ceremony distinctive to the Lampung Pepadun people, particularly in the Tulang Bawang Barat region. This tradition is not merely a ritual to inaugurate a penyimbang (traditional leader) or to bestow an honorary title, but it also embodies noble values such as mutual cooperation (sakai sambaian), Piil Pesenggiri (dignity and honor), and social responsibility toward the community. This study aims to (1) describe the implementation of the Begawi Cakak Pepadun tradition in Tulang Bawang Barat, and (2) analyze this cultural practice from a postcolonial perspective to understand how indigenous communities preserve their traditions amid colonial legacies, modernization, and globalization. The findings reveal that the implementation of Begawi consists of several main stages, namely preparation, manjau and ngedio, cangget (celebratory night), turun mandei, and cakak pepadun. Each stage holds symbolic meanings that represent togetherness and respect for ancestors. From a postcolonial perspective, Begawi Cakak Pepadun can be seen as a form of cultural resistance against colonial influence and as a process of reclaiming local identity. Although modernization has introduced changes such as the use of technology and adjustments in the duration of the ceremony, the Lampung people continue to preserve the spiritual and social essence of the tradition through mutual cooperation, cultural education for the younger generation, and the strengthening of customary institutions. Thus, Begawi is not merely a relic of the past but also a symbol of cultural continuity and resistance against global domination.

Abstract

The quality of learning in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum continues to face significant challenges, particularly regarding teachers’ pedagogical competencies. National data from UKG, AKG, PMM, and Sulingjar reveal persistent gaps in pedagogical mastery, which directly affect the effectiveness of differentiated learning and the achievement of the 8 Graduate Profile Dimensions, the new national learning outcomes standard. School principals’ academic supervision is viewed as a strategic instrument to address these issues; however, previous studies have largely focused on administrative aspects, with limited attention to integrating deep learning approaches within the supervision process. This study aims to analyze the role of optimizing principals’ academic supervision in enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competencies to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum based on deep learning. A literature study method was employed by reviewing books, scientific articles, educational policies, and relevant research published within the last decade. The findings show that systematic, continuous, and needs-based academic supervision can significantly improve teachers’ ability to design active and reflective learning, develop HOTS-based instructional materials, and create collaborative learning environments that support the achievement of the 8 Graduate Profile Dimensions.

Abstract

Low motivation can be seen in students' lack of active involvement in the learning process, their lack of initiative to access additional learning resources, and their difficulty managing time and developing independent learning strategies. However, educational psychology literature confirms that motivation plays a crucial role as a determining factor in learning success. Educational psychology plays an important role in understanding student learning, especially in relation to motivation and academic achievement. This article reviews the literature on how educational psychology principles enhance student motivation and learning outcomes at STKIP Pesisir Selatan. The review shows that intrinsic motivation, cognitive-based learning strategies, the lecturer’s role as facilitator, and a supportive learning environment significantly influence achievement. Practical applications of educational psychology through active learning, feedback, positive reinforcement, and effective classroom management can improve learning quality. This article aims to provide a conceptual foundation for further research and teaching practices in higher education.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education requires a systematic approach through stakeholder collaboration and continuous data-based evaluation. This study analyzes the design of working groups and the implementation of continuous evaluation in improving the quality of education at SMP Ummul Ayman Samalanga. The research method uses a qualitative case study approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The results show that the working group design was developed through the strengthening of KKG and MGMP as collaborative forums for planning, reflection, and problem solving in learning. This collaboration encourages the more consistent application of active and project-based learning. Continuous evaluation using the PDCA cycle and CIPP model enabled the school to accurately identify learning issues and formulate follow-up measures through remedial-enrichment programs and the strengthening of a culture of literacy. The integration of collaborative working groups and data-based evaluation proved effective in reducing disparities in achievement between classes and creating sustainable improvements in education quality. The findings offer a practical model for other schools in systematic and measurable education quality improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between principal leadership and teacher participation in the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) at SMK Negeri 7 Sijunjung. The background of this research lies in the crucial role of school leadership in fostering a participatory, transparent, and accountable organizational climate, which is essential for the effective implementation of SBM and the improvement of educational service quality. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 32 permanent teachers at SMK Negeri 7 Sijunjung, while the principal was involved as a key informant to strengthen the contextual understanding of field data. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, specifically the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The findings reveal that the principal’s leadership is in the very good category, with an average score of 4.21, while teacher participation is categorized as high, with an average score of 4.08. The correlation test results indicate a positive and significant relationship between principal leadership and teacher participation, with a coefficient of r = 0.742 (p < 0.05). These results confirm that the more effective the principal’s leadership, the higher the level of teacher participation in SBM implementation, which ultimately contributes to the improvement of educational service quality at the school.

Abstract

In Christian higher education, servant leadership strengthens a sense of calling and spiritual motivation among employees. Faculty and staff who perceive their work as part of God’s mission often demonstrate higher dedication, teamwork, and ethical responsibility. Servant leadership emphasizes humility, empathy, and a commitment to serving others before oneself. Within Christian higher education, this leadership model resonates deeply with biblical values and institutional missions centred on spiritual formation and academic excellence. This article aims to explore how servant leadership influences employee work performance, particularly within Christian universities. Using a literature review method, this study synthesizes findings from various academic sources to identify how servant leadership principles affect employee motivation, engagement, and productivity. Additionally, it discusses challenges faced by Christian higher education institutions in implementing servant leadership, especially amid the disruption era and the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.

Abstract

The teacher plays an important role in the world of education, among his duties is to educate and educate the nation's children to become a superior generation in facing life's challenges in the future. In carrying out their duties as teachers, it is appropriate for teachers to get rewards for the services they have provided to the world of education. Rewards for these teachers are usually contained in the compensation system that has been regulated by educational institutions, both material compensation such as salaries, allowances, incentives, and so on, and non-material ones such as health insurance, a conducive work environment, supporting work facilities, etc. This is done with the intention that these teachers get proper compensation and can fulfill their daily needs. Providing appropriate compensation is expected to be able to support the performance of teachers in the educational institutions where they take shelter. This research was conducted to examine the effect of compensation on teacher performance which was carried out using the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method, namely by identifying, reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting all previous studies that were closely related to teacher compensation and performance.
