Abstract

Malang is known for its diverse culinary attractions, particularly along Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, a popular culinary area. The linguistic landscape (LL) displayed in public spaces reflects the sociolinguistic characteristics of a region and can be observed through culinary store names. This study aims to identify the monolingual and bilingual patterns used in culinary store naming on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta and to analyze their informational and symbolic functions. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected from permanent signage along Jalan Soekarno-Hatta. Of the 181 stores identified, 80 were culinary businesses. The findings reveal 70 monolingual store names categorized into six patterns: P+BN, BN, TCS+P, TCS+P+BN, TCS+BN, and P. In addition, 10 bilingual store names were classified into three patterns: TCS+BN, P+BN, and TCS+P. The study shows that the informational function of the linguistic landscape is to communicate products and store locations, while the symbolic function reflects business ownership and the regional identity of the cuisine offered. These findings demonstrate how culinary store names contribute to representing cultural and linguistic identities in urban public spaces.

Abstract

Population growth, land-use conversion, and the reduction of vegetation cover have led to increasingly frequent floods and droughts in Semarang Regency. These conditions exacerbate surface runoff and reduce the soil’s capacity to store water, resulting in inundation during the rainy season and drought during the dry season. The objective of this study is to determine the location for installing Horizontal Recharge Pipes (HRP), which play an important role, particularly in flood-prone areas, by enhancing groundwater infiltration as a water reserve. The method applied in this research involves calculating the magnitude of runoff discharge in areas with potential flood inundation, which is then simulated with the application of HRP installation to determine the number of HRPs required to reduce flooding. Drought-prone areas were analyzed using satellite imagery to identify suitable HRP locations. In the Klegung watershed, 10 HRP units are required; in the Curug watershed, 460 units; and in the Lodong watershed, 835 units, all using a 12-inch diameter. Drought analysis using Landsat imagery identified dry areas in East Ungaran, Susukan, Suruh, Bancak, and Pringapus subdistricts. The installation points for HRPs can be prioritized based on areas experiencing inundation or drought. The implementation of HRPs is expected to infiltrate surface runoff effectively, thereby reducing flood risk while simultaneously increasing groundwater availability in Semarang Regency.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the increasing sexual behavior among adolescents due to low knowledge, environmental influences, and a lack of sex education. Therefore, MODISA was developed as a means of preventing promiscuous sexual behavior. The research aims to describe adolescents' understanding of sex education, map existing prevention efforts, and develop relevant, interesting, and appropriate modules. The method used in Research and Development with the ADDIE model includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, which is limited to the development stage in the form of testing the feasibility of the module by experts and prospective users. Interview data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model assisted by MAXQDA 2026 software, while the product acceptability analysis used the inter-rater agreement model. The results of the MODISA research respond to the needs of students and guidance counselors for comprehensive, easy-to-understand sex education materials equipped with illustrations. The validity test results obtained were 1.00 from material experts, media experts, and prospective users, thus indicating the validity results are in the very high category, meaning MODISA is very appropriate, very useful, very interesting, and very feasible to use. In conclusion, MODISA (Sex Education Module for Teenagers) has the potential to improve adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, and behavior towards the risks of sexual behavior, so that it can be a structured teaching material for high school guidance and counseling teachers in providing sex education.
