Abstract

The submission of dowry in the form of land (Sompa Tanah), as practiced by the Bugis community in Bone, reflects the flexibility of local mechanisms in addressing real-world challenges based on the ideal values of tradition. This study is important in the broader discourse on dowry, which often highlights cultural legitimacy in perpetuating violence and the subordination of women. The provision of Sompa Tanah in Bugis society serves as a cultural, legal, and religious mechanism to establish legal certainty regarding rights and obligations in marital relations. This descriptive qualitative research draws on observation and interview data, which are then analyzed contextually to understand their relevance to social management within the community. The findings indicate that Sompa Tanah functions as a legal mechanism that not only regulates rights and obligations in marriage but also provides legal certainty within the marital bond. The legal security afforded to women serves as a safeguard for their rights as wives and mothers within a patriarchal society. As a legal mechanism, Sompa Tanah ensures social order and gains customary and cultural legitimacy, which strengthens the position of women in the Bugis social structure. Additionally, marriage, as a social bond, carries the risk of divorce, which is also legally acknowledged. Consequently, this paper recommends further comparative studies to explore the practice of Sompa Tanah across different regions to gain more comprehensive and in-depth knowledge.

Abstract

This paper aims to summarize studies on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in e-payment readiness and identify the research gap. The study used a systematic literature review method. A total of 33 articles on UTAUT were published over the past five years, from 2019 to 2023. The 33 articles were the subject of the study. The data were collected by studying documentation of several previous articles through database searches such as Web of Science and Scopus. The data analysis techniques were quantitative (statistical) and qualitative (descriptive). This study indicated that 33 articles highlighted UTAUT in e-payment readiness, demonstrating that there is still a lack of studies involving e-payments at mosque institutions, especially among management groups. The findings will provide mosque authorities with a comprehensive overview of mosque financial digitalization for more relevant and efficient fund collection methods.

Abstract

Technological advancements in education have introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative tool to enhance academic writing skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL). This study explored EFL students’ perceptions in Indonesia and Taiwan regarding the role of AI in improving their writing abilities. Using qualitative research methods, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 second-year students specializing in English at an Islamic State University in Indonesia and a National University in Taiwan, who actively use AI tools in their writing processes. Analysis based on Creswell’s thematic framework revealed positive perceptions of AI, with benefits such as improved grammar, sentence structure, paraphrasing skills, vocabulary enrichment, and efficiency in topic generation. However, concerns also emerged about excessive reliance on AI, reduced creativity, and issues of plagiarism and authenticity. These findings highlighted the dual-edged nature of AI in academic writing, emphasizing the need for careful integration and risk mitigation to fully leverage AI’s educational benefits. This research enriched the discourse on technological advancements in EFL education and provides insights for curriculum developers, educators, and policymakers to optimize AI use in academic settings. The practical implications of these findings included strategies to enhance the effectiveness of AI in education and foster innovation in EFL teaching.

Abstract

This study aimed to collect and analyze articles related to Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences theory and its implementation in Islamic education in Indonesia, as well as to identify research gaps. The method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with meta-synthesis data analysis techniques. The selected articles were published between 2016 and 2024 and chosen as the subjects of the study. These articles were gathered through search engines such as Google Scholar, Scopus.com, and Elicit.ai. The data analysis techniques employed were both quantitative and qualitative. The analysis results indicated that the implementation of Multiple Intelligences in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teaching successfully improved student achievement and encourages teachers to teach creatively, using methods such as demonstrations, role-playing, the use of ICT, outdoor learning, and student motivation. Additionally, this implementation fosters critical thinking, problem-solving learning, creative thinking, and communicative learning. The implementation of Multiple Intelligences in PAI also aligned with the concept of fitrah. Further research is recommended to broadly review the implementation of Multiple Intelligences in Islamic education.

Abstract

The Acehnese in various regions face the challenge of reconciling Islamic teachings with local cultural realities. Addressing religion-based conflicts is particularly difficult because local cultures often contain norms and traditions that differ from Islamic teachings. This research aims to explore how the dynamics of conflict and consensus in fiqh siyasah shape the cultural life of the Acehnese. The research consolidates previous studies using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The findings indicate that the practice of siyasah jurisprudence is highly relevant in fostering social solidarity and tolerance. Local traditions and customs hold deep significance for the Acehnese community; however, conflicts often arise due to differences in approaches and interpretations of Islamic law, leading to tension, mistrust, and suspicion among individuals. Presently, religion-based conflicts are mediated solely by Sharia courts, raising concerns as the prevailing consensus favors a socio-cultural approach. Such resolution methods generate diverse perspectives, as decisions made by customary institutions may not endure in a dynamic socio-cultural context. Although the Acehnese community firmly adheres to a culture-based approach, religious issues remain difficult to compromise. These findings imply a need for harmonization between local customs and interpretations of Islamic law to reduce conflict.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the dynamics of religious harmony and the strategies employed by Muslims and Christians in Mandailing Natal to build cohesive relationships through the indigenous cultural framework known as Dalihan Na Tolu. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and a literature review. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data presentation, data reduction, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the Muslim and Christian communities worked together to build peace and nurture religious harmony in Mandailing Natal. The cultural practice of Dalihan Na Tolu has long served as a foundation for accommodating the multicultural Mandailing society in fostering religious harmony and peace. The role of Dalihan Na Tolu could be seen in three aspects: socio-religious, economic, and customary practices. In these aspects, Muslims and Christians respected each other, fostered cooperation (gotong royong), and adopted a moderate and inclusive attitude towards diversity in their daily lives. Maintaining interfaith harmony through the cultural practice of Dalihan Na Tolu in Mandailing Natal is a crucial social modality that can contribute to peacebuilding and serve as a relevant strategy for preserving religious harmony in multicultural societies.

Abstract

This research aims to map the development of quality management research indexed in Google Scholar and analyze topics related to this topic. By adopting a qualitative descriptive method, it was carried on through three stages: (1) indexed journal with the help of Google Scholar PoP (Publish or Perish) software; (2) journals were saved as an RIS (Research Information System) file; and (3) bibliometric analysis was performed using VOS viewer. This search focused on articles discussing quality management topics in the period 2010–2023, with a limit on the number of documents of 900. The research results showed that the amount of research on quality management had fluctuated. The most publications occurred in the specified year range, namely 83 articles. The topics most discussed were quality management systems, performance, top management, education, total quality management, relations, and improvement, while those that were still very few were distance education, skills, conflict management, competence, social development, information management, and career adaptability. Therefore, these topics were likely to be of concern to the latest research on quality management in the future because there was still very little research on them.

Abstract

This research aimed to formulate a model of mathematical learning difficulties for children with dyscalculia to help children with dyscalculia overcome mathematics problems at school. This research is important to carry out considering that dyscalculia is a serious problem experienced by many students throughout the world. The SDTA model was built by analogizing the STIR model to non-communicable diseases. In this study, of 1247 students who conducted a series of tests (screening tests), there were 121 students, or 9.7% were initially identified as having dyscalculia. Furthermore, observations were carried out and confirmation was carried out with parents and teachers so that 119 students tested positive for dyscalculia. The research results showed that after intervention through treatment by the teacher, dyscalculia students experienced a very drastic decrease, especially in the material on recognizing and ordering numbers. Likewise, the results of model simulations on multiplication operation material illustrated the decline in students with dyscalculia. Specifically for division operations, the treatment process took relatively longer. Therefore, the simulation results in the SDTA model reflected students who are identified as having dyscalculia, along with planned intervention/ treatment, students could pass through the mathematics learning phase successfully.

Abstract

Many universities striving for world-class university (WCU) status have increasingly prioritized academic advancement, research, and policy development, often at the expense of students’ subjective well-being. While most studies on the transformation of tertiary institutions into WCUs focus on conceptualization, management challenges, and global impacts, few have considered the well-being of university students. This research aimed to examine the neglect of students’ subjective well-being in universities aspiring to achieve WCU status and to explore the underlying reasons for this oversight. The researchers employed a qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews with students, lecturers, and university administrators, as well as through observations and document analysis, to investigate the marginalization of students’ well-being. These findings reveal that universities targeting world-class status often overlook students’ well-being in their policies, infrastructure, and institutional culture. The study calls for increased awareness of students’ subjective well-being in the academic community and the provision of structural support for students’ mental health.
