Abstract

The current scenario compels businesses to adopt an agile structure to navigate unprecedented changes and to help employees adapt effectively. This study was conducted to support the hypothesis that spiritual leaders can guide employees in adapting to changes and enhancing organizational agility. Spiritual leadership can improve organizational agility by increasing employees’ trust and commitment, making it easier for them to adjust to change. Data were collected from 405 employees in both top- and bottom-level positions within the manufacturing industry in the Malatya and Kayseri provinces of Turkey. This quantitative research model was developed and tested using correlation and regression modeling techniques. The findings revealed a significant relationship and interaction between spiritual leadership and organizational agility (r = 303; and r = 504, p < 0.05)] (R 2: 028; p: 001. Business agility is achieved through adaptation to change, which necessitates that employees also adapt effectively to these changes.

Abstract

The spread of radicalism in educational institutions, particularly in Islamic boarding schools, is often attributed to institutional leaders who promote a rigid interpretation of religion. The pivotal role of Kiai (Islamic scholars or leaders) and teachers in these schools is central to developing students’ attitudes toward Rahmatan lil alamin (mercy for all creation) and fostering a moderate perspective. As a role model, Kiai plays a significant role in cultivating a sense of moderation among Santri (students). This article aims to describe and analyze the leadership strategies employed by Kiai in this context. The research adopts a qualitative design with a case study approach and was conducted at the Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School in Pacet, Mojokerto, East Java. The findings highlight several key strategies Kiai Asep Saifuddin Chalim implemented, including strengthening Nahdatul Ulama traditions, implementing a rigorous selection process for teachers and Staff, adhering to fundamental principles of success, and integrating moderate values into the school curriculum. Furthermore, the Kiai’s exemplary leadership supports the development of a wise and balanced attitude among Santri.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of reading competence in English literacy for vocational students, focusing on its impact on human resource management and the effectiveness of public learning organizations. The method used is a descriptive qualitative literature review to identify the required competence levels, basic literacy needs, and the urgency of developing effective reading skills in preparation for entering the job market. The results show that reading competence goes beyond basic literacy and includes understanding technical materials, specific industry documents, and job-related texts, all of which are crucial for successful navigation in chosen fields as well as the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This study also highlights the fundamental needs of vocational learners, including access to educational resources aligned with their field of expertise, and adequate language support programs for various levels of English proficiency. This research recommends enhancements to vocational curricula, professional development for educators, language support programs, and collaboration between vocational institutions and employers. The implications of this study confirm that reading ability is not merely a skill but a strategic necessity for vocational success that enhances job eligibility and adaptability, as well as supporting growth in human resource management and public learning organizations.

Abstract

Religious moderation serves as a pillar of unity and diversity, a glue and unifier of the nation. It helps prevent conflicts that may arise due to differences in religious beliefs and practices. This study uses content analysis and survey methods, with data collection through interview techniques, literature studies, and surveys of teachers and students at the Madrasah Aliyah in the city of Bandung. This study aims to determine the moderation material in the Quran Hadith book and the responses of teachers and students to the application of learning materials based on religious moderation. The results of the study indicate that the religious moderation education material at Madrasah Aliyah in the Quran Hadith textbook is more associated with the values contained in the holy texts, as well as the understanding and practice of moderation based on the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, covering several themes, namely balance (tawazun), religious tolerance (tasamuh), responsible attitude, and maintaining trust. The concept of religious moderation is easy to understand and implement in life as students’ attitudes are more open to accepting opinions and respecting differences. One effort to instill an attitude of religious moderation among students can be made by integrating the values of religious moderation into the teaching materials of the Quran and Hadith.

Abstract

Resilience based on artistic creativity by musicians has had positive implications for preserving Keroncong’s music. However, this context needs to be addressed in scientific discussions. In addition to complementing previous studies, this study focused on explaining the characteristics of resilience based on artistic creativity carried out by musicians in preserving Keroncong music. This study showed three significant findings. First, resilience based on artistic creativity carried out by musicians by composing made Keroncong music more inclusive and could be enjoyed by all groups. Second, resilience based on artistic creativity carried out by musicians by performing informal stage acts made Keroncong music an attractive genre. Third, resilience based on artistic creativity carried out by musicians by covering popular songs made the Keroncong genre became adaptive music. This study also recommends the importance of future studies that explain the resilience process of musicians in preserving Keroncong music by intensively interviewing musicians who consistently perform Keroncong songs.

Abstract

Pesantren plays a significant role in developing students’ self-regulated learning (SRL) skills, which are reflected in their ability to set learning goals and manage their cognition, motivation, and behavior. However, previous studies did not explore SRL skills among students in pesantren, particularly in those with three secondary education units: MA (Madrasah Aliyah), SMA (Senior High School), and SMK (Vocational School). This study aimed to reveal the average SRL skills of students and their indicators in supporting survival skills (SS) in pesantren. Using a positivistic paradigm and a quantitative approach through survey methods, this research was conducted at Pesantren As-Syifa Al-Khoeriyyah Subang, West Java, Indonesia, involving 99 students from MA, SMA, and SMK levels as samples. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of 30 questions and analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that the average SRL skill scores for MA students were 55.48, for SMA students 60.12, and for SMK students 57.72, with an overall average score of 57.77. The ANOVA significance test value of 0.012 (< 0.05) indicates a significant difference between groups. This study also highlighted that students’ SRL skills, such as social independence, values, and behavior, were shaped through various programs implemented in the pesantren.

Abstract

Wearable devices, particularly smartwatches, have recently garnered significant consumer interest. However, limited research has explored how consumers’ perceived values influence their intention to continue using this technology. This study seeks to fill this gap by examining the perceived values—hedonic, utilitarian, and social—that drive purchase decisions, with a specific focus on the moderating role of switching costs on repurchase intentions in the context of a developing country: Mongolia. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms, resulting in 465 usable responses from potential smartwatch users. The partial least squares (PLS) approach was employed to evaluate the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicate that consumers’ purchase decisions are influenced by hedonic, social, and utilitarian values. Furthermore, switching costs were found to significantly moderate both purchase decisions and repurchase intentions. These results offer valuable insights for smartwatch manufacturers and marketers. By understanding the key factors driving purchase and repurchase decisions, industry stakeholders can develop targeted marketing strategies and product features that cater to consumers’ needs, ultimately improving customer retention and increasing market share in the rapidly expanding wearable technology sector.

Abstract

The study aims to examine the vowel series in the Ngeno-Ngene dialect of the Sasak language, which is commonly spoken by students at universities in Lombok. More specifically, it investigates the number of vowel series and their impact on the pronunciation of English by these students. Data for this study were collected from students at Universitas Gunung Rinjani in Lombok, Indonesia, representing eleven villages in East Lombok. The study used a qualitative method, which included observation and interviews. The findings revealed a total of 22 vowel series in the Ngeno-Ngene dialect. The study also emphasized how these vowel series influence the pronunciation of English by students. It indicates that students tend to carry over vowel sounds from their native language when pronouncing English words with similar vowel series. This effect is attributed to an unsupportive language environment and a lack of opportunities for speaking practice and listening comprehension.

Abstract

Dayah is a designation for the traditional Islamic boarding school in Aceh, an institution that plays a crucial role in education, knowledge dissemination, and shaping religious identity in Aceh society. To produce well-rounded graduates, Dayahs must stay abreast of modern developments and cultivate a dynamic, inclusive academic culture. However, Dayahs have struggled to demonstrate such openness, leading to challenges to their relevance. This research employed qualitative methods to investigate the academic culture within the Dayah education system in Aceh, re-evaluate factors influencing its development, and outline future growth prospects. The study focused on three Dayahs: Ruhul Islam, Ruhul Falah, and Darul Maghfirah. The findings revealed that the academic culture in these institutions has been declining due to several factors: reliance on a traditional curriculum and teacher-centered instruction, generational transmission of outdated practices, and lack of contemporary organizational structure. These issues hinder learning, stifling the freedom to voice opinions, knowledge acquisition, and effective management. To improve the academic culture in Dayah, it is recommended to enhance engagement and communication with all stakeholders, implement a structured development plan, and improve the quality of human resources. By addressing these areas, Dayahs can foster a more dynamic and inclusive academic environment.

Abstract

This study explores the application of Ibn Miskawaih’s ethical philosophy in shaping moral education in Indonesian secondary schools, focusing on Madrasah Aliyah (MA) and General Senior High Schools (SMA). Amid increasing concerns over student deviant behaviors—such as bullying, online gambling, and indiscipline—this research examines how Ibn Miskawaih’s framework, which emphasizes the harmonization of reason (al-Nathiqah), emotion (al-Ghadabiyyah), and instinct (al-Bahimiyyah), is operationalized in contemporary educational settings. Using a qualitative case study approach, data collection involved observations, interviews, and document analysis. Findings reveal distinct approaches: MA integrates religious mentoring and structured moral education, while SMA incorporates moral values within broader character education initiatives. However, both face challenges, including inconsistent parental involvement, weak supervision, and the absence of structured moral assessment tools. This study highlights the need for stronger school-family collaboration, enhanced supervision policies, and systematic moral evaluation instruments. By bridging classical Islamic ethical thought with contemporary education, this research provides valuable insights into the role of Ibn Miskawaih’s philosophy in addressing modern moral challenges and fostering holistic character development among students.
