Abstract

Early literacy plays a crucial role in building a strong foundation for children's reading and writing skills. In Salatiga, the Library and Archives Office (Dinpersip) initiated the Salatiga Early Literacy Awareness (Sinisa) program to cultivate children's reading interest from an early age. Although the program holds great potential, its implementation remains limited to book provision and does not fully address essential literacy aspects. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Sinisa program and identifies the factors influencing its success using a descriptive approach and SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). The findings indicate that the program's strengths lie in Dinpersip's active involvement, content relevance to local culture, and community collaboration. However, it faces several weaknesses, including budget limitations, suboptimal content, and the absence of a clear evaluation framework. Opportunities for program development include cross-sector collaboration and increasing literacy awareness, while the primary threats stem from digital media competition and the lack of commitment from the local government. As a novel contribution to early literacy studies, this research recommends implementing a Community-Based Literacy model that actively involves parents and communities to enhance the effectiveness of the Sinisa program. Additionally, strengthening strategic partnerships between Dinpersip, educational institutions, and communities is essential to fostering a conducive environment for sustained reading interest. These measures aim to optimize the Sinisa program in cultivating a literate generation in Salatiga.

Abstract

Children's character education is one of the important focuses in forming the next generation who are moral, resilient, and have integrity. This study analyzes the implementation of character education values through children's stories based on local wisdom. Stories based on local wisdom have great relevance in the context of today's education. , because it is able to provide contextual learning, rooted in national culture, and relevant to global challenges. This study aims to identify the character values contained in children's stories, and explore how local wisdom can enrich the learning process and character formation of children. By using qualitative approach and content analysis, this study analyzes children's stories that raise the theme of local wisdom from various regions in Indonesia. The results of the study show that children's stories based on local wisdom can be an effective means to instill values such as honesty, cooperation, responsibility, love of the homeland, and environmental awareness. In addition, these stories are relevant to be used as interactive and inspiring teaching materials in school learning or used for learning at home. This helps to form a strong character and a positive sense of identity. By integrating these values into education, children can learn to appreciate tradition while developing good attitudes in everyday life.

Abstract

This study explores the perceptions of PAUD teachers in Lebak, Banten, about critical thinking skills in learning for children aged 4-6 years, learning strategies, and challenges faced. A descriptive quantitative approach was used with an open-ended questionnaire filled out by 131 teachers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with presentation in the form of visual graphs. The results showed that teachers' understanding of critical thinking indicators varied, with 39.6% understanding critical thinking more as the ability to analyze, 14.4% as interpretation, 12.6% as evaluation, 8.2% as inference, 5.4% as explanation, and 4.5% as self-regulation. Teachers emphasized analysis and interpretation through interactive methods, while evaluation and inference were less applied. The novelty of this study lies in the mapping of teachers' understanding based on critical thinking indicators and their impact on learning strategies. Recommendations for training based on direct practice and reflection to improve the implementation of critical thinking evenly are contributions to the research results as well as being the basis for improving policies and developing teacher training in areas with low HDI.

Abstract

Kebijakan parenting berbasis hak anak meningkatkan kesejahteraan anak, tetapi implementasinya menghadapi tantangan regulasi dan budaya. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi kebijakan parenting berbasis hak anak di berbagai negara serta faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dan metode PRISMA 2020 untuk menganalisis kebijakan. Data dikumpulkan dari jurnal ilmiah dan publikasi akademik. Negara dengan kebijakan kuat mendukung keterlibatan orang tua dalam pendidikan. Negara Nordik menerapkan parental leave yang panjang, sedangkan Kanada dan Australia mengembangkan kebijakan berbasis komunitas. Indonesia dan Malaysia menghadapi hambatan sosial dan budaya dalam implementasi. Penelitian ini berdampak pada kebijakan pendidikan, pengasuhan, dan riset akademik. Pemerintah perlu memperkuat regulasi parental leave dan mengintegrasikan parenting berbasis hak anak. Kajian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk menilai efektivitas kebijakan ini di berbagai konteks sosial budaya. Keberhasilan kebijakan bergantung pada regulasi dan adaptasi budaya. Kolaborasi antara akademisi, pembuat kebijakan, dan komunitas sangat diperlukan guna memastikan efektivitasnya dalam mendukung kesejahteraan dan pendidikan anak

Abstract

Corruption damages the development of society, so proactive steps are needed to foster integrity from an early age. This study investigates the effectiveness of reinforcing the values of honesty and modesty in elementary school children as anti-corruption role models. The research employed a mixed-methods approach across five schools. Data collection included pre- and post-intervention surveys, behavioral observations, and qualitative interviews with teachers, parents, and students. The findings reveal that curriculum integration, role modeling, and experiential learning significantly enhanced students’ ethical awareness and behaviors. Honesty was reinforced through storytelling and discussions, while simplicity was promoted via community service and creative activities. Quantitative analysis indicated a 25% improvement in honesty-related behaviors and an 18% increase in attitudes favoring simplicity. Parental involvement further amplified these outcomes, creating a cohesive framework for value reinforcement. This study provides a novel contribution by integrating simplicity as an anti-corruption value, addressing materialism as a root cause of unethical behavior. The framework’s success underscores the potential of early education in shaping ethical behaviors, offering valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers. Future research could explore culturally adapted strategies and technological enhancements to optimize impact.

Abstract

Pembentukan karakter siswa yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dapat dilakukan dengan menganalisis verba dalam sebuah cerita. Salah satunya adalah cerita Loli dan Madu Istimewa yang memiliki keunikan pada kelas kata verba yang mendominasi dan dapat menunjukkan bahwa cerita ini dirancang untuk memberikan pengalaman yang positif sehingga menarik untuk dibaca bagi peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kategori kelas kata dalam cerita “Loli dan Madu Istimewa” karya Luthfia Khoirunisa menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis data berdasarkan teori morfologi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa verba menjadi kelas kata yang paling dominan dengan 31 kata, untuk menunjukkan tindakan yang dilakukan oleh karakter. Nomina digunakan sebanyak 27 kata untuk menggambarkan pentingnya karakter dan objek dalam membangun narasi cerita, sementara adjektiva memperkuat deskripsi sifat dengan 9 kata. Kategori lainnya seperti adverbia, pronoun, preposisi, konjungsi, dan interjeksi masing-masing berfungsi untuk memperkaya pemahaman dan emosi dalam cerita. Kebermanfaatan  penelitian adalah mengasah keterampilan membaca dan menyimak serta membantu penguasaan tata bahasa seperti subjek-predikat-objek dan bagaimana kata-kata dapat bekerjasama untuk membentuk kalimat yang dapat dimengerti.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a character education-based blended learning model to improve Children' critical thinking skills in Islamic religious education. This research is quantitative research with a meta-analysis approach. The criteria for study eligibility are research obtained through google scholar; Researchgate, ERIC, ScienceDirect and Emerald; research comes from Sinta and Scopus indexed journals or proceedings; Research should be relevant to the effectiveness of character education-based blended learning models to improve Children' critical thinking skills in Islamic religious education; The study was published in 2020-2024 and reported complete values to calculate the value of effect size. Statistical analysis with JASP 0.8.5 application. The results concluded a) the study concluded 20 studies with normal and heterogeneous distribution; b) there is a significant influence of the character education-based blended learning model to improve Children' critical thinking skills in Islamic religious education with strong categories (rE = 0.851; p < 0.001), and c) there is no publication bias. This finding explains that the blended learning model based on the character education-based blended learning model is effective for improving Children' critical thinking skills in Islamic religious education.

Abstract

Effective classroom management in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Indonesia is vital for creating a structured and engaging learning environment that accommodates the diverse cultural backgrounds and developmental needs of young learners. This study explores classroom management strategies at the ECE level through a comprehensive literature review, focusing on their role in fostering cognitive, social, and emotional development. By analyzing scientific articles, journals, and research reports, this research identifies key strategies, including: (1) play-based learning approaches, (2) flexible and responsive classroom layouts, (3) effective teacher-child communication, and (4) the development of self-regulation through consistent routines. The findings reveal that effective classroom management enhances children’s engagement, reduces behavioral issues, and promotes an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere. This study underscores the importance of culturally relevant approaches and offers practical insights for educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers. It also highlights the need for continuous teacher training to improve classroom management competencies. By addressing gaps in the existing literature, this research contributes to the development of tailored frameworks for Indonesia’s diverse educational context, ultimately supporting improved learning outcomes for young children.

Abstract

Guru Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) memiliki peran penting dalam memberikan stimulasi bagi perkembangan siswa di sekolah. Selama proses pembelajaran, guru memiliki berbagai tanggung jawab, terlebih ketika mengajar di sekolah inklusi, yang mana siswa tipikal dan atipikal belajar di satu kelas. Dengan adanya tanggung jawab yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan guru kelas reguler, guru PAUD yang mengajar di kelas inklusi perlu memiliki kompetensi pedagogik yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran kompetensi pedagogik guru PAUD yang mengajar di kelas inklusi. Partisipan penelitian mixed method ini adalah empat orang guru. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan mengisi alat ukur, wawancara, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian secara kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa para guru memiliki kompetensi pedagogik yang tergolong baik. Namun, berdasarkan data kualitatif diketahui bahwa terdapat kebutuhan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan terkait tipe anak berkebutuhan khusus, desain pembelajaran yang universal dan program pembelajaran individual, serta melatih kemampuan berkomunikasi positif.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan anak dalam mengenal alfabet melalui model pembelajaran Sing Song, dimana model pembelajaran ini merupakan pendekatan yang inovatif dalam membantu anak mengenal alfabet. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di TK Al-Ahyar dan metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Subjek penelitian ini adalah anak kelompok A (usia 4-5 tahun) yang berjumlah 15 anak. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus dengan mengikuti 4 tahapan yaitu planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Teknik pengumpulan data diambil melalui instrumen lembar observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan data analisis, ditemukan hasil penelitian bahwa pada siklus 1 persentase ketuntasan kemampuan anak mengenal alfabet adalah 78.3% dan persentase aktivitas belajar anak adalah 74.1%. sedangkan pada siklus kedua, persentase ketuntasan kemampuan anak mengenal alfabet adalah sebesar 86.7% dan persentase aktivitas anak sebesar 80.4%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Sing Song sangat efektif dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan anak dalam mengenal alfabet.
