This article aimed to develop designs for non-paper-based (NPB) formative assessment models in Arabic learning accompanied by assessment instruments, practices, and student perspectives at the elementary school level. The method used is a qualitative field study with eight participants selected purposively. After teaching for two months, data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews”data analysis using Miles and Huberman's theory, namely reduction, presentation, and drawing reports. The results of the study show that teachers have designed and implemented NPB formative assessments: Jawab kuIS!, مَنْ أَسْرَعْ يَرْجِعْ, KEPO nih!, dan Klik Klik Quizizz which utilizes Instagram, Canva, and Quizizz applications. The student's perspective on this practice is positive, evidenced by students preferring NPB formative assessments to conventional paper-based formative assessments cause for them the assessment is exciting, tend to be enthusiastic about participating in the assessment, and expect formative and summative assessments in the future always to use the NPB model.

Abstract

The development of the 'Amiyah' application is based on real conditions in the Arabic class for Hajj. The lack of Amiyah Arabic learning resources makes Arabic Language Education students experience difficulties when learning it. Therefore, to overcome the anxiety regarding minimal learning resources, researchers developed an Android based 'Amiyah' application that all groups, especially students, can use. This method applies development research (R&D) methods by adapting the Borg and Gall development model. The research instrument was an indirect closed questionnaire distributed via google form by personal chat. Samples were taken from as many as 30 students in the class. Quantitative and qualitative are used during data processing to provide easy to understand information. The results showed that the trial use of the 'Amiyah' application reached 85% with a very feasible interpretation. Thus, 'Amiyah' can be used as one of the learning media or learning media independently. ‘Amiyah' is available at the following link https://tinyurl.com/amiyahapk.

Abstract

News from online media portals has advantages over traditional media in establishing credibility and influencing its readers. This study aims to investigate the structure of Arabic online media discourse in the header: أفغانستان تحت حكم طالبان: الأمم المتحدة تجمع مليار دولار للمساعدات الإنسانية on the news portal www.bbc.arabic.com. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method in conjunction with Teun A. van Dijk's critical discourse analysis theory. The findings of this study indicate that the discourse structure of Arabic online media under the heading: أفغانستان تحت حكم طالبان: الأمم المتحدة تجمع مليار دولار للمساعدات الإنسانية meets the criteria established by Teun A. van Dijk's model of discourse structure analysis, which includes macro structure (overall meaning of the text by fathoming the topic), superstructure (sees the text based on its plot), and microstructure (which examines the word choice, sentence structure, and writing style).

Abstract

This article aims to explain the contribution of the gandul pesantren's meaning symbols and reveal the problems in translating Arabic sentences. The method of data collection is done through observation and documentation from several sources related to the meaning of the Islamic boarding school and translation with the main data source in the form of a book entitled "Fathul Qarib Paling Lengkap" by M. Hamim HR. and Huda Nailul which is then analyzed and the results are described qualitatively. The results of the study show that: (1) There are 4 contributions of the symbol of the Islamic boarding school meaning in translating Arabic texts, namely: the translation process becomes more effective and efficient, helps to know the position of a word in a sentence, helps to read Arabic texts and helps understand the message referred to from an Arabic sentence. (2) The meaning of the Islamic boarding school which has several terms symbolized by certain symbols used to explain the position of words in Arabic sentences has problems in translating them into Indonesian because not all terms can be directly translated so that some of them are not included (omitted) in translation.

Abstract

The Covid-19 has been encouraging the educational sector to reconstruct its systems and implementation, including in Arabic language education. Among the alternative Arabic learning systems that comply with health protocols and have been implemented by many educational institutions is online learning. However, this alternative learning system still requires a deeper review of the learning principles. By using a descriptive qualitative method based on library research, this article reveals the basic principles of online Arabic learning from the perspective of Rusydi Ahmad Thu'aimah. Data is processed from Thu'aimah's works using integrated reading techniques linked to online learning facts from various articles and news sources. This article produces three aspects of online Arabic learning principles from Thu'aimah's perspective: communication principles, learning method principles and learning media principles. So far, no Thu'aimah learning theories have connected them to online learning. These findings can be the primary for implementing of online Arabic learning system today and in the future, both during a pandemic and post-pandemic.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the implications that arise from virtual learning spaces built through synchronous Arabic learning by video conference to find out the supporting factors for the success of learning. This study uses three data collection techniques: observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis of the data that has been collected is carried out to produce accurate data following the existing data and facts. The data analysis technique was passed through three processes, namely (1) restatement of data collected according to each theme, (2) description, and this technique was carried out to find data patterns and trends, and (3) interpretation, the purpose of using this technique. The research results show the importance of revolution and transformation of language learning from the classical conditioning approach to social constructivism. This pattern shift can also change dependence on technology, shown in the effectiveness of learning that will run with the affordability of computer and internet media support.
