Abstract

The development of a new learning model to increase chemical literacy skills, scientific habits of mind (SHOM), and science process skills (SPS) of chemistry education students is needed to prepare competent chemistry teacher candidates in the future. Theoretical studies have discussed the low chemistry literacy, SHOM, and SPS of students. This research aims to prove the theoretical study data by looking directly at the conditions of chemical literacy, SHOM, and SPS of chemistry education students. The research took place in four stages: measuring and comparing chemical literacy; measuring SHOM; observing SPS during learning activities in the laboratory; and conducting needs analysis for lecturers. The scores obtained from measuring chemical literacy are very worrying. However, there are significant differences in chemical literacy as the years of study increase. Student SHOM is also still in the medium category and needs to be improved. Student SPS is also still relatively low. Furthermore, the lecturers suggested developing a learning model that could develop these three abilities. The model developed must be suitable for adult learning and be able to develop student abilities

Abstract

This study aims to test or examine the effect of the use of virtual laboratories using the Guided Discovery Learning model on students' conceptual understanding abilities in static electricity material. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group research design. The population in this study were all students of class XII of SMAN 1 Monta. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling with class XII MIPA 2 consisting of 28 students as the experimental class and class XII MIPA 1 consisting of 28 students as the control class. Before and after the treatment, both classes were given a conceptual understanding ability test in the form of essay questions that had previously been tested for their feasibility with validity, reliability, difficulty level of questions, and discriminatory power. The results of the initial test (Pretest) and final test (Posttest) of conceptual understanding ability were analyzed for homogeneity and normality to conduct a hypothesis test. The analysis of the hypothesis test using the t-test obtained a t_count of 3.49 and a t_table of 2.00. Thus, the calculated t_value is greater than the t_table, so H_0 is rejected and H_a is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of virtual laboratories using the Guided Discovery Learning model on students' conceptual understanding abilities in static electricity material.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a serious complication during pregnancy that poses significant health risks to both mother and fetus, potentially leading to death. Early identification of biological factors associated with preeclampsia is crucial for effective prevention. This study aims to analyze the biological factors influencing preeclampsia incidence among pregnant women. A quantitative design with a case-control approach was used, focusing on pregnant women with a history of preeclampsia in the Curug Community Health Center, Karawang Regency. The sample included 10 respondents. The results revealed a significant relationship between parity and preeclampsia incidence (p-value 0.031), BMI (p-value 0.018), diet (p-value 0.041), and history of complications (p-value 0.001). However, no significant association was found between lifestyle activities and preeclampsia (p-value 0.114). These findings suggest that factors like parity, BMI, diet, and complications history are significantly linked to preeclampsia incidence. These results provide a basis for targeted interventions in pregnant women's care. Future studies should expand the sample size and consider additional variables such as employment status, family support, and stress levels for more comprehensive insights into preeclampsia risk factors.

Abstract

The Dampier Strait regional conservation area is one of the conservation areas included in the Raja Ampat Regency marine conservation area, which has high potential for developing tourism activities. The most important aspect in the use of natural resources for tourism purposes is their suitability to support tourism activities. The challenge faced is the difficulty if the potential for beach tourism, snorkeling and diving to be developed simultaneously. The aim of this research is to determine areas for ecotourism and recommend appropriate locations. Data analysis is determining ecotourism areas using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). TOPSIS is used because it is able to rank the selected alternatives that are closest to the positive ideal and furthest from the negative ideal solution. The criteria used are tourist carrying capacity, accommodation, accessibility, number of international tourists, number of domestic tourists and suitability area. The results of this TOPSIS analysis are that Sauwandarek, Marandanweser and Arborek are areas that can be used as an alternative area for carrying out beach tourism, snorkeling and diving activities. Areas that can be developed into ecotourism activities are Yeben Kecil and Tanjung Putus.

Abstract

This research is based on the results of observations and interviews at SD Al-Hikmah Indonesia that the learning carried out is still limited due to time so that only the target of material completion is pursued, while the achievement of learning outcomes and students' understanding of concepts is still lacking. Learning is only student-centered. For this reason, there is a need for appropriate and effective methods in learning. Therefore, researchers tried to use a jigsaw type cooperative learning approach to overcome this problem. This research uses a pretest-posttest control group design, data collection techniques using test and non-test data. Test data was obtained from pre-test and post-test results, while non-test data was obtained from questionnaires. This research took as subjects students of class IV A and students of class IV B. In this research three meetings were held which included pre-test, learning and post-test. After applying this approach, the average gain for the experimental class was 0.49 and the control class was 0.25. The results of the research show that there is an increase in students' post-test results in learning using the jigsaw type cooperative learning approach. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of this approach on science learning on the subject of natural resources. The results of this research are recommended as a reference for further research, especially research that uses a jigsaw type cooperative learning approach in learning natural resources in order to improve students' understanding of concepts better in the future.
