Abstract

The development of technology makes learning media interesting to use and makes learning materials easier to understand. One form of interesting learning media is infographic media. Infographic media has become an effective teaching material in biology learning. Infographic media is closely related to the role of visual hierarchy. Visual hierarchy is an aspect that helps readers understand information in a structured and systematic manner. The method used in this research is exploratory descriptive. The researcher collected general information related to biology teaching materials and research studies from Biology Education students of UIN Alauddin Makassar who used infographic media as teaching materials. The analysis of visual literacy was based on the theory of visual hierarchy. In terms of visual hierarchy, three teaching material media have been implemented with a good visual hierarchy. The content, through a combination of colors, shapes or elements, an appropriate layout, and the selection of text models, creates contrast. This shows that a good understanding of visual hierarchy can produce infographics that are not only aesthetic but also comfortable for readers to read. Infographic teaching materials used for viral materials, the phylum Echinodermata, and the digestive system have followed an appropriate visual hierarchy as teaching material media. Of the three infographic media used as teaching materials, all have followed the principles of visual hierarchy.

Abstract

The research in this paper was conducted on Campus Teaching 5 (KM5) activities as a form of the Independent Learning–Independent Campus (Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka/MBKM) program in partner schools. It aims to provide opportunities for students to carry out activities outside the lecture classroom as a self-development experience. This research seeks to determine the effectiveness of improving literacy, numeracy, and students’ character as a result of the transformation carried out by students through campus teaching activities toward improving the quality of learning services in partner schools. The expected transformation is an increase in literacy, numeracy, and students’ character competencies through an innovative, creative, and enjoyable learning process. The research employed mixed methods, combining quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches. Research data were obtained from weekly reports of students’ activities at the assisted partner school, namely Perti Islamic Private Elementary School in West Jakarta. The data consisted of two types: qualitative data from weekly reports and quantitative data derived from the results of the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) pretest and posttest. Based on the qualitative data analysis of weekly reports, the transformation process had an impact on improvements in literacy, numeracy, and students’ character competencies. This is also supported by the AKM results, which show a positive difference in the mean scores between the pretest and posttest. This indicates an improvement in literacy, numeracy, and students’ character competencies. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Campus Teaching program is effective in improving students’ literacy, numeracy, and character competencies.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum changes the curriculum structure in schools, starting with driving schools as pioneers who adopt and implement P5. The principal selection process for drive schools involves several stages, highlighting the crucial principals' role in implementing P5. Not all schools will be ready to implement this curriculum, especially non-driving schools. This research aims to describe school principal policies, strategies, influence, and supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing P5 and uses a qualitative approach. Data are obtained through observation, interviews with school principals, teachers, students, and documentation. The research results show that school principals’ policies consist of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Planning involves forming a curriculum acceleration team, preparing KOSP, budgeting, and increasing teacher competency. Implementation involves forming a facilitator team, creating P5 modules, and mentoring. The evaluation highlights the improvements in school readiness, teacher assessment, and P5's orientation towards strengthening character rather than products. The P5 strategy includes understanding, preparing the ecosystem, design, management, processing assessment reports, evaluation, and follow-up. Influential aspects at SDN 032 include competent human resources and strategic location, as supporting factors for P5, while the obstacle is the teacher's slow adaptation to curriculum changes. The research results are expected to contribute to improving the P5 implementation in schools.
