Abstract

The widespread use of smartphones, tablets, and video games in childhood has intensified concern over their effects on children’s behavior, emotional regulation, attention, and social development. For primary school children, this issue extends beyond health because digital habits also shape learning readiness, self-control, classroom participation, and family routines that support schooling. This study examines how Plato’s account of moral formation in The Republic can help interpret contemporary research on children’s gadget and video game use. Using a qualitative literature-based approach, the study analyzes Plato’s educational thought together with peer-reviewed studies and policy documents on screen time, parenting, self-regulation, sleep, attention, and child development. The analysis draws on purposively selected literature and thematic synthesis. Five major patterns were identified: screen environments can function as habit-forming settings; excessive use is associated with socioemotional and behavioral difficulties; screen use may displace sleep and sustained attention; self-regulation in childhood depends heavily on adult mediation; and balanced guidance is more educationally productive than either permissiveness or punitive prohibition. The study offers an education-centered framework for understanding digital media use in primary school contexts and argues that the central issue lies not in technology itself, but in the quality of guidance, routine, and moral formation surrounding its use.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in Social Sciences (IPS) through the use of Blooket digital media in class V of SDN 12 Kota Barat, Gorontalo City. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method consisting of two cycles, where each cycle includes the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 8 students consisting of 5 male students and 3 female students. Data were obtained through observations of teacher and student activities and learning outcome tests. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes after the implementation of Blooket media. In the initial observation, only 25% of students achieved the KKM. In cycle I, learning completeness increased to 50%, and in cycle II it increased significantly to 88% or as many as 7 students achieved a score of ≥ 75. In addition, teacher and student activities also increased in each cycle, indicating that Blooket digital media is able to create more interactive, interesting, and motivating learning for students. Thus, it can be concluded that the Blooket digital media is effective in improving the social studies learning outcomes of fifth grade students. This media can be an innovative learning alternative and support technology-based learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Student Worksheets (Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik) for the topic of cursive handwriting (connected upright letters) for second-grade students at SDN 3 Bulango Utara. The background of this research is based on the low level of students' cursive writing skills, which is attributed to the limited availability of instructional materials, particularly the absence of specifically designed and systematic worksheets. Additionally, the learning process still heavily relies on standard student textbooks, leading to boredom and decreased learning motivation among students. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of the stages of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects of this research are second-grade students at SDN 3 Bulango Utara. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis is conducted to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed worksheets. The results indicate that the developed student worksheets for cursive handwriting are feasible to be used as learning media, practical in their implementation, and effective in improving students’ cursive writing skills. Therefore, the developed worksheets can serve as an alternative instructional material to support Indonesian language learning in elementary schools, particularly in enhancing students’ early writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of implementing the Snakes and Ladders educational game in mathematics learning and analyze the increase in student interest and engagement in length and weight measurement in fourth-grade students at Mambaul Hasan Islamic Elementary School. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects were all fourth-grade students at Mambaul Hasan Islamic Elementary School. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that before the implementation of the educational game, learning was still dominated by lectures and practice exercises, resulting in students being passive, lacking focus, and having low learning interest. The use of learning media in teaching and learning activities can increase and stimulate interest and talent, increase student motivation, foster organized reasoning, reduce and avoid verbalism, and foster a systematic approach, while fostering positive values in students (Ruhma & Hanik, 2023). Classes become more interactive, enjoyable, and student-centered. Student interest and engagement increased, as indicated by more focused attention, enthusiasm in participating in the game, active participation in group discussions, and courage in answering questions. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Snakes and Ladders educational game is effective in increasing student interest and engagement in mathematics lessons on length and weight measurement in fourth grade at MI Mambaul Hasan. The application of the Snakes and Ladders game can be combined with various models, as well as encouragement and rewards. In implementing this media, educators are expected to be innovative and creative in exploring the learning process in the classroom (Tazkiyah et al., 2025).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the issues related to students’ learning motivation and the strategies to enhance it in science learning at the elementary school level. Learning motivation plays a crucial role in influencing students’ engagement and learning outcomes, particularly in science subjects that require active participation and a high level of curiosity. However, there are still students who exhibit low learning motivation due to teacher-centered instructional methods, limited variation in teaching models, and the lack of interactive learning media. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing ten relevant journal articles related to learning motivation and science education in elementary schools. The analysis is conducted to identify the factors contributing to low learning motivation as well as effective strategies to improve it. The findings indicate that learning motivation is influenced by both internal factors, such as interest and self-efficacy, and external factors, including teaching methods, learning environment, and teacher creativity. Various strategies have been proven effective in enhancing students’ learning motivation, such as cooperative learning models, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), the use of interactive learning media, and the implementation of ice-breaking activities in the learning process. Improving students’ learning motivation requires the application of innovative, student-centered instructional strategies, supported by a conducive  learning environment to achieve optimal science learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the concept of children’s moral education in Akhlaq lil Banin by Umar bin Ahmad Baraja and examine its relevance in addressing moral disruption in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative library research design using content analysis to interpret moral values embedded in the text and relate them to contemporary digital challenges. The findings reveal that moral education in Akhlaq lil Banin is structured into five integrative dimensions: personal, filial, educational, social, and environmental morality. These dimensions emphasize internal self-regulation, ethical relationships, and social responsibility as the foundation of character formation. Furthermore, the study finds that these classical moral values remain highly relevant in responding to current issues such as digital addiction, ethical degradation in online communication, and the weakening of moral authority. However, a conceptual gap is identified between classical frameworks and the complexities of digital life, necessitating contextual reinterpretation. This study contributes by proposing an integrative and adaptive model of moral education that bridges classical Islamic values with digital literacy. The findings highlight the importance of contextualizing moral education to ensure its relevance in shaping ethically grounded generations in the digital age.

Abstract

This study examines the dialectical relationship between the concept of adab in classical Islamic educational tradition and the phenomenon of digital distraction in contemporary educational contexts, with particular reference to the thought of KH. Hasyim Asy’ari in Adab al-‘Ālim wa al-Muta‘allim. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study integrates content analysis, conceptual synthesis, and dialectical analysis to explore the relevance of classical ethical frameworks in addressing modern digital challenges. The findings indicate that adab constitutes a holistic ethical system that regulates intention, behavior, and epistemic relations in the learning process, while digital distraction operates as a multidimensional phenomenon affecting cognitive, socio-emotional, and moral domains. The tension between the discipline and ethical intentionality embedded in adab and the immediacy and fragmentation of digital culture reflects a disruption of the foundational structure of meaningful learning. However, a point of convergence is identified through the concept of self-regulation, which serves as a bridge between classical Islamic ethics and modern educational psychology. Within this integrative framework, adab functions as a normative foundation, while self-regulation provides an operational mechanism for addressing digital distraction, particularly in shaping the character of santri in contemporary contexts. This study contributes to the development of an integrative and contextually grounded framework that connects classical ethical traditions with the demands of modern education.

Abstract

Academic supervision is a series of activities organized by the school principal and a team of supervisors to assist teachers in developing their ability to manage the learning process so that learning objectives are achieved. The objectives of academic supervision are to enhance teachers’ professionalism and competence, foster and strengthen motivation in carrying out teaching duties, improve the quality of the learning process and outcomes, and help align educational programs with the needs and conditions of the environment. This study aims to examine the implementation of academic supervision by school principals so that in the future, both principals and teachers can implement supervision more effectively and minimize obstacles. This study employs a literature review approach based on 19 national articles. The results indicate that, overall, the implementation of academic supervision in several Indonesian elementary schools is quite good in accordance with existing standards. However, numerous obstacles were also identified in the implementation of academic supervision, such as teachers feeling burdened by supervision, schedules sometimes conflicting with the principal’s events, incomplete teacher documentation, teachers’ lack of preparedness for supervision, the absence of a standardized academic supervision format, the principal’s insufficient knowledge and understanding of academic supervision, time constraints, and the principal being overly busy. Therefore, an appropriate implementation strategy is necessary to ensure that academic supervision is carried out effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and conduct an in-depth analysis of social isolation among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 18 in Pontianak. The subjects of this study are two eighth-grade students experiencing social isolation. This study employs a descriptive method with a qualitative approach in the form of a case study. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique followed the steps of a case study, which include problem identification, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up. In providing treatment for Case Subjects I and II, the researcher applied an individual counseling service model using a behavioral approach, incorporating assertiveness training and role-playing. Based on the research results, the isolated causal factors were internal factors in Case Subject I, such as emotional barriers, low self-confidence, social withdrawal, and a loss of interest in joining social groups. Meanwhile, internal factors in Case Subject II included being shy, quiet, lacking self-confidence, and withdrawing from the social environment. External factors included the family environment and the school environment. There were noticeable changes in Case I and Case II subjects after receiving treatment over four sessions. The changes observed in Case Subject I include being more willing to express frustration regarding things they dislike and showing greater confidence when asked by the teacher to present in front of the class. Meanwhile, the changes observed in Case Subject II include showing confidence when asked to come to the front of the class, no longer being quiet and withdrawn, being accepted by classmates, and being able to express thoughts and feelings to others.
