Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of humanistic theory to the material of cultural diversity and test its effectiveness in fostering tolerance attitudes in fourth-grade elementary school students. The study used descriptive qualitative methods with observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The subjects were 36 fourth-grade students of Lembang Elementary School. The background of this study is because of the continued discovery of behavior that does not respect or does not accept differences such as teasing, isolating friends, negative prejudice, and a lack of mutual assistance among elementary school students of different cultural backgrounds. Humanistic learning theory with a student-centered learning approach positions students as unique individuals, with diverse backgrounds, needs, interests, and abilities. In the context of student diversity in schools, student management must be carried out with compassion (empathy) by paying attention to their emotional, social, and psychological aspects, so that the learning atmosphere can take place safely, comfortably, and pleasantly. Humanistic-oriented student management not only emphasizes academic achievement, but also the development of human values such as respecting differences among others, mutual respect, and attitudes of mutual love and help. The application of humanistic learning theory is highly effective in fostering tolerance in fourth-grade elementary school students on cultural diversity. The results of this study indicate that the application of humanistic learning theory through student-centered learning activities, respect for differences, and the provision of freedom of expression can create a humanistic and meaningful learning environment. Students' tolerance significantly increased, as evidenced by indicators such as respect for differences, cooperation in groups, and acceptance of peers from different cultural backgrounds. This study recommends a humanistic approach for character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

In mathematics learning, students have low self-efficacy, which results in low engagement and learning outcomes. One method that can be used to address this problem is by implementing a cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study is to analyze various types of cooperative learning, discover how cooperative learning helps students become more independent, and find errors in previous research. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is the method used. SLR examines relevant scientific articles from the last five years (2020–2025) collected from various databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, and SINTA. The results of the study indicate that cooperative learning significantly improves students' self-efficacy. Cooperative learning such as Division of Student Team Achievement (STAD), Group Investigation (GI), Think Pair Share (TPS), and Teams Games Tournament (TGT) have been shown to increase students' self-confidence because they provide significant learning experiences, group collaboration, and social interaction. In addition, learning together improves cognitive abilities such as reasoning, conceptual understanding, and mathematics learning outcomes. Because student self-efficacy increases unevenly, teachers must employ appropriate learning strategies. Consequently, cooperative learning is recommended as an effective learning model for improving the quality of mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study examines the phonological aspects of wawancan, a form of Lampung oral literature, focusing on syllable structure and rhyme patterns in the Tanggamus region, where the coastal (Api/A) dialect is used. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the data were collected from fifteen wawancan performances and analyzed to identify and classify their syllabic and rhyming structures. The findings reveal five primary syllable structures: V, VC, CV, CVV, and CVC, with the CV pattern being the most dominant, indicating a preference for open syllables in the Lampung language. The distribution of syllable structures across word positions reflects phonotactic constraints consistent with the Maximal Onset Principle. In terms of rhyme, the results show that half rhyme, particularly assonance, is the most frequently used form, followed by full rhyme, while rich rhyme occurs only marginally. The dominant rhyme scheme identified is abab, with occasional use of aaaa and abcabc. Additionally, masculine rhyme appears more frequently than feminine and triple rhymes, suggesting a tendency toward simpler rhyming patterns. Overall, this study highlights the significance of phonological features in shaping the aesthetic and communicative functions of wawancan. The findings contribute to the documentation and preservation of Lampung oral traditions and provide insights into the linguistic characteristics of the Lampung language.

Abstract

The development of education in the digital era requires changes in learning approaches that are more student-centered and humanistic. However, learning practices in schools are still often dominated by teacher-centered approaches, where teachers act as the primary source of knowledge and students tend to be passive. This study aims to analyze the transformation of teachers’ roles from instructors to facilitators based on a humanistic approach, identify challenges in its implementation, and examine strategies to support its effectiveness in learning. This research employed a qualitative approach with a literature study method by collecting secondary data from scientific journals, books, and relevant academic sources. Data were analyzed using content analysis through the identification, comparison, and synthesis of various theories and findings. The results indicate that the transformation of teachers into facilitators through a humanistic approach can create more meaningful, participatory, and student-centered learning. This approach contributes to improving students’ motivation, independence, critical thinking, and character development. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, including limited teacher understanding, inadequate training, and education systems that remain academically oriented. Therefore, support through teacher professional development and educational policies is necessary to optimize the implementation of humanistic learning.

Abstract

The still-low level of science literacy among students in Indonesia calls for innovation to improve it. One such approach is the use of the Socio-Scientific Issues-based Classroom Discussion learning model, which has the potential to be implemented. This study aims to describe the improvement in students’ science literacy skills after being taught using the Classroom Discussion learning model based on Socio-Scientific Issues. The study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were students in class VII-C at SMP Labschool Unesa 3 in Surabaya. The research instruments included an observation sheet for learning implementation, pretest and posttest science literacy questions, and a student response questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used normality tests, hypothesis tests, and N-Gain tests. The results of the normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed. The results of the hypothesis test using the Wilcoxon test indicated that there was an effect of using the learning model. The results of the N-Gain test showed that 5.3% of students fell into the low category, 89.5% into the moderate category, and 5.3% into the high category. These results were supported by the implementation of the learning process, which achieved an average percentage of 100% per session, categorized as “very good.” Additionally, student responses to the learning process yielded a result of 83.4%, interpreted as “very positive”. It can therefore be concluded that the Classroom Discussion learning model based on socio-scientific issues can improve students’ science literacy. Suggestions for future research include the use of technology-assisted learning, the use of different controversial issues, or other research methods to improve the science literacy of junior high school students.
