Abstract

Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning within the Merdeka Curriculum demands the implementation of instructional models capable of facilitating active student engagement while optimally improving learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the comparison of IPAS learning outcomes of third-grade elementary school students through the application of the Direct Instruction model in Chapter 4 (Energy and Its Changes) and the Problem Based Learning model in Chapter 6 (I Am Part of Society). The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group comparative design. The research subjects consisted of 20 third-grade students from the same class. Data collection used validated and reliable multiple-choice and short-answer tests. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene homogeneity test, and Independent Sample t-Test using SPSS version 26. Results showed that the mean learning outcomes of the Direct Instruction group was 81.25 (Good category) and the Problem Based Learning group was 94.5 (Very Good category), with a mean difference of 13.25. The Independent Sample t-Test yielded t = -4.321, df = 38, and Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05, thus H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. These findings indicate a significant difference between IPAS learning outcomes through Direct Instruction and Problem Based Learning models, where Problem Based Learning proved more effective in improving third-grade elementary school students' learning outcomes

Abstract

This study discusses the low learning interest of students caused by boredom during the learning process. The research aimed to determine the implementation of the card sort method, students’ learning interest, and the effect of the card sort method on the learning interest of upper-grade students in Islamic Religious Education and Character subjects at SDN 106 Inpres Takalar I. This study employed a quantitative ex post facto approach with a simple paradigm design. The population consisted of 84 upper-grade students (grades IV, V, and VI), and all were selected as the sample using saturated sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the card sort method had a positive effect on students’ learning interest. The statistical analysis indicated that tcount was greater than t_table (1.864 > 0.2146) with a significance level of 5%. The coefficient of determination showed that the card sort method contributed 41% to students’ learning interest, while the remaining 59% was influenced by other external factors. Therefore, the card sort method can be considered an effective and interactive learning strategy to improve students’ learning interest in Islamic Religious Education and Character subjects.

Abstract

Early-stage reading proficiency constitutes a fundamental competency that elementary school students must possess. This competency holds a crucial role as it serves as the basis for strengthening literacy at the subsequent level of education. Various instructional media can be employed to support the strengthening of this ability, one of which is picture word cards. This medium helps students grasp the connection between written forms and the objects visualized through pictures. This condition makes the process of learning to read easier and more engaging. This study aims to evaluate the contribution of picture word cards to the early-stage reading proficiency of elementary school students through the application of the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The research was conducted following the guidelines set out in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Data collection was carried out by searching academic articles indexed in Google Scholar, assisted by the Publish or Perish (PoP) application, within a publication range from 2024 to 2026. The selection process based on the established criteria yielded 13 articles deemed eligible for analysis. The findings indicate that picture word cards contribute positively to students' ability to recognize letters, pronounce syllables, articulate simple words, enrich vocabulary, and foster interest and motivation to learn. These findings affirm that picture word cards may be regarded as one effective teaching method to support the development of elementary school students' basic reading skills. Abstract

The development of disciplinary character is one of the primary objectives of Islamic education that can be fostered through a boarding-based educational system. The boarding school environment enables character development to be carried out intensively, systematically, and continuously throughout students’ daily lives. This study aims to analyze the implementation of boarding-based student management in shaping the disciplinary character of students at Pendidikan Diniyah Formal (PDF) Nurul Jadid, Paiton, Probolinggo. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the dormitory head, dormitory administrators, foster caregivers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation and member checking. The findings reveal that the formation of students’ disciplinary character is carried out through the integration of six main components: role modeling, diligence developed through habituation, organized activities, the role of foster caregivers, supervision, and periodic evaluation. These six components form an interconnected developmental system that instills discipline, responsibility, orderliness, and self-awareness among students. The novelty of this study lies in the finding that the synergy of these six developmental components within boarding-based student management creates a comprehensive and sustainable mechanism for character education. The study implies that boarding-based student management can serve as an effective model for strengthening character education in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the MBG Program in fostering religious character among Group B at RA Al-Izzah in Serang City. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and the principal, documentation, and field notes. Data analysis referred to the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of MBG at RA Al-Izzah has been carried out in a structured and integrated manner within daily routines, encompassing the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages in accordance with the school’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Through shared school meals, the program successfully instilled six core religious character values: prayer, gratitude, discipline, responsibility, proper table manners, and social compassion. Factors supporting the program’s success include foundation support (self-sufficient kitchen), strong team collaboration, adequate facilities, appealing menus, and collaboration with parents. Meanwhile, the main barriers are children’s food preferences (particularly refusal to eat vegetables), menu monotony, and budget constraints. The school overcomes these challenges through a non-coercive, persuasive approach, consistent habit-building, and providing feedback to service providers to improve menu variety. It is concluded that the MBG Program at RA Al – Izzah not only serves to meet nutritional needs but has transformed into a meaningful, effective, and sustainable medium for religious character education for early childhood. Abstract

Adolescence brings substantial emotional dynamics that frequently disrupt students' learning processes and social relationships, particularly in vocational secondary schools. SMK Marga Insan Kamil, an Islamic-based vocational school, has not yet established a formal and structured guidance and counseling (BK) service, even though students face emotional pressure stemming from family conflict, economic hardship, and peer relations. This study aims to analyze the needs for a guidance and counseling program to develop students' emotional intelligence based on Islamic values at SMK Marga Insan Kamil. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through semi-structured interviews with the student affairs coordinator, an Islamic education teacher, and four students, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students require an accessible, safe, and trustworthy counseling service, since emotional problems have so far been handled incidentally by homeroom teachers, the student affairs unit, and Islamic education teachers without a dedicated counselor. Islamic values already practiced at the school, such as the culture of smiling, greeting, self-regulation through istighfar, and congregational prayer, have proven effective in strengthening students' self-awareness, empathy, and self-regulation, which are core dimensions of emotional intelligence. Based on these findings, five recommended programs are proposed: Islamic-based individual counseling, group counseling, reflective literacy activities, spiritual reinforcement, and teacher mentoring. The study concludes that a structured, Islamic value-based guidance and counseling program is both necessary and feasible to support students' emotional and character development at SMK Marga Insan Kamil. Abstract

The implementation of bi’ah lughawiyah (Arabic language environment) has become an important strategy in improving Arabic language learning in Islamic boarding schools, particularly in developing students’ communicative competence. In the context of modern Islamic education, creating an active language environment is considered essential to support natural language acquisition and strengthen students’ motivation to use Arabic in daily communication. This study aims to analyze the implementation of bi’ah lughawiyah in Arabic language learning at Pondok Pesantren Darunnajah Jakarta, including its implementation strategies, supporting and inhibiting factors, and its influence on students’ Arabic language skills. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving Arabic language teachers, students, and school administrators. The collected data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques supported by triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings revealed that the implementation of bi’ah lughawiyah was carried out systematically through the use of Arabic in classroom learning, dormitory activities, daily conversations, speeches, muhadatsah programs, and other language-based activities. The study also found that environmental support, teacher supervision, and consistent language habituation significantly contributed to improving students’ speaking and listening skills. However, several obstacles were identified, including limited vocabulary mastery, lack of self-confidence, and the influence of the Indonesian language in daily communication. This study contributes to the development of Arabic language learning theory by emphasizing the importance of a communicative and socially supportive language environment in second language acquisition. The findings imply that Islamic educational institutions need to strengthen language immersion programs and develop more adaptive language learning strategies. Future studies are recommended to apply mixed-method approaches and involve broader research settings to obtain more comprehensive findings regarding the effectiveness of bi’ah lughawiyah in Arabic language learning.
