Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited implementation of innovative learning models and interactive technology-based instructional media in mathematics classrooms. The research aimed to examine the differences in students’ mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of fractions between those taught using the Game-Based Learning model supported by Wordwall media and those taught through a conventional learning approach. The study was conducted in Grade V at SDN 01 Situjuah Gadang as the experimental class and SDN 03 Situjuah Gadang, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, as the control class. A quasi-experimental design involving pretest and posttest assessments was employed. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing. The pretest results showed that the experimental class obtained a mean score of 53.5, while the control class achieved 52.5, with t statistic = 0.300 < t table = 2.024 and Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.766 > 0.05, indicating no significant difference between the groups before treatment. After the intervention, the posttest mean scores increased to 84.5 for the experimental class and 57.0 for the control class, with t statistic = 4.102 > t table = 2.024 and Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.008 < 0.05. These findings indicate that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the use of the Game-Based Learning model assisted by Wordwall media resulted in significantly better learning outcomes than the conventional teaching approach in learning fractions.

Abstract

Work readiness is a critical aspect for graduates of Vocational High Schools (SMK) to succeed in the workforce. It is influenced by various internal and external factors, including field work experience (PKL), self-perception, and employability skills. This study aims to analyze the impact of PKL experience and self-perception on work readiness among students enrolled in the Office Management and Business Services Specialty Program (MPLB) in Jombang District, using employability skills as an intervention variable. The study employs a quantitative exploratory research design, with a sample of 149 students selected via proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis with SPSS 25, along with a Sobel test to examine mediation effects. The research findings indicate that PKL experience and self-concept have a significant positive impact on employability skills. Furthermore, self-concept and employability skills significantly enhance job readiness, whereas PKL experience does not directly affect it. Mediation analysis reveals that employability skills fully mediate the effect of PKL experience on job readiness and partially mediate the effect of self-concept on job readiness. These findings demonstrate that improvements in students' job readiness depend not only on PKL experience but also on strengthening self-concept and developing employability skills

Abstract

The ability to interpret pictographs is an essential component of data literacy that should be developed from the elementary school level, as it enables students to understand, compare, and process data presented in visual form. However, classroom observations in Grade II at SDN 4 Bareng Lor indicated that many students experienced difficulties in interpreting, comparing, and processing data from pictographs and lacked confidence in learning mathematics. This study aimed to describe the implementation of a growth-mindset-based formative assessment and to improve the pictograph interpretation skills of Grade II students at SDN 4 Bareng Lor. The study employed the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research (CAR) model, which was conducted in two cycles. The participants consisted of 34 second-grade students in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through classroom observation, formative assessment, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques, complemented by Normalized Gain (N-Gain) analysis. The findings revealed that the growth-mindset-based formative assessment was implemented through group discussions, student presentations, feedback, and learning reflection. The implementation of this assessment significantly improved students' pictograph interpretation skills across all indicators. Students' ability to interpret pictographs increased from 72.06% to 90.44% (N-Gain = 0.66, medium category), their ability to compare data improved from 70.65% to 87.26% (N-Gain = 0.57, medium category), and their ability to process data increased from 55.94% to 88.26% (N-Gain = 0.73, high category). By the end of the second cycle, all indicators had achieved a mastery level exceeding 80%. Therefore, growth-mindset-based formative assessment was effective in improving the pictograph interpretation skills of Grade II students at SDN 4 Bareng Lor.

Abstract

Film functions not only as a medium of entertainment but also as a space for the production of meaning that represents social reality through various symbols. This study aims to analyze the symbolic attributes portrayed in Badrun & Loundri, directed by Garin Nugroho, and to reveal the meanings, ideologies, and social criticism constructed through these symbolic representations. This research employs a qualitative approach using Teun A. van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis framework, which examines three dimensions: text structure, social cognition, and social context. The data were collected through observation of selected scenes in the film, documentation, and a review of relevant literature. The findings indicate that symbolic attributes, including religious clothing, police uniforms, volunteer vests, masks, and ordinary clothing, function not only as markers of identity but also as sources of social legitimacy that shape public trust and authority. The film demonstrates that legitimacy is often constructed through visual symbols rather than personal integrity, thereby creating opportunities for the manipulation of power, image-building, and the abuse of public trust. Through these representations, Garin Nugroho criticizes society's tendency to associate appearance with morality, authority, and truth without engaging in critical evaluation. Therefore, Badrun & Loundri serves not only as a representation of social reality but also as a medium for reflecting on the practice of symbolic legitimacy within Indonesian society.
