Abstract

The weakening of the internalization of religious values among students due to the influence of modernization, technological development, and pragmatic lifestyles has become a challenge in fostering religious character at universities. The Islamic Spirituality Student Organization (UKM Kerohanian Islam) acts as a venue for religious development through various ongoing religious activities. This study aims to analyze the methods used by the administrators of the Islamic Spirituality Student Organization to nurture the religious spirit of students at Bhineka PGRI University and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that religious development is carried out through habituation of worship, Islamic studies, religious training, and involving students in various organizational activities. Supporting factors include campus support, availability of facilities, the enthusiasm of administrators, and member cooperation. Meanwhile, the hindering factors include weak communication and coordination, students' limited time, and low consistency in member participation. This study concludes that the Islamic Spiritual Student Organization leaders play an important role in nurturing students' religious spirit, so strengthening organizational management and program innovation is needed to optimize the religious development process.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the jarimatika demonstration method on the arithmetic abilities of students in class III C UPT SPF SD Negeri 106163 Bandar Klippa. The background of this research is the low arithmetic ability of students in basic operations, namely addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students still experience difficulties in solving problems because they tend to use a one-by-one counting method, which often leads to calculation errors. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with the Pre-Experimental Design method and the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The number of research subjects was 27 students from class III C UPT SPF SD Negeri 106163 Bandar Klippa. The data collection method used arithmetic skills tests and learning observations. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS program with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, including normality tests and Paired Sample t-tests. The results of this study indicate that the finger counting-based demonstration method has a significant impact on students' counting abilities. This is evidenced by the increase in the average student score from 47.19 on the pretest to 81.04 on the posttest. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), thus H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. In addition, the standard deviation decreased from 24.61 to 9.42, indicating that the students' abilities became more uniform after the treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the finger arithmetic-based demonstration method on the counting ability of elementary school students

Abstract

The ability to speak English is a skill that should be honed starting in elementary school. It is vital for developing communication skills, self-confidence, and students’ readiness to navigate educational advancements in an increasingly globalized world. However, the process of learning to speak English among children is often hindered by various factors, such as limited opportunities for speaking practice, a lack of self-confidence, and a curriculum that focuses more on theory than on practice. This community service activity aims to demonstrate the application of speaking instruction developed based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, with the goal of improving children’s English speaking skills through the English Language Teaching for Young Learners program. This program was implemented at Al-Hidayah Mosque, Royal Residence 02 Housing Complex, RT 29, Bumi Ayu Village, Bengkulu City, using a Community Asset-Based Empowerment (ABCD) approach that optimizes the community’s potential to support the learning process. The method used is Interactive Learning based on Microteaching, which integrates the six levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy: recall, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, and create. The learning materials cover greetings, self-introductions, expressing thanks and apologies, and saying goodbye through conversation practice, role-playing, storytelling, games, and other communication activities. The results of this study indicate that Bloom’s Taxonomy approach can enhance students’ active participation, confidence, and ability to use simple English sentences in the context of everyday communication. In addition, interactive and step-by-step learning creates an enjoyable learning environment, making students more confident in communicating in English. Thus, speaking instruction that combines Bloom’s Taxonomy with the ABCD approach has proven to be an effective learning model for improving English communication skills among elementary school-aged children in community service activities.

Abstract

Independence in Activity of Daily Living (ADL) is an important aspect of every individual’s life, including students with visual impairments who live in a boarding school environment such as SLB A Yapti Makassar. Boarding school life requires students to adapt, manage themselves, and carry out daily activities independently, particularly environmental cleanliness activities using basic cleaning tools such as a palm-fiber broom, dustpan, and trash bin. However, several obstacles are still found in the implementation of these activities, making it necessary to understand students’ perspectives on independence. This study aims to: (1) describe the ADL independence of students with visual impairments in using a palm-fiber broom, dustpan, and trash bin at SLB A Yapti Makassar; (2) identify the supporting factors of ADL independence among students with visual impairments in using these basic cleaning tools; and (3) identify the inhibiting factors of ADL independence among students with visual impairments in using these tools. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subject was one totally blind student, identified by the initials WD, who was in Grade IX of SMPLB at SLB A Yapti Makassar. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, while data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the student demonstrated positive ADL independence, as reflected in the ability to prepare cleaning tools, solve problems independently, and adapt to environmental demands. This independence was supported by spatial orientation, self-regulation, family support, school support, peer support, and habituation. The inhibiting factors were minor and situational, so they did not significantly hinder the student’s independence.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the descriptive overview of self-protection capabilities among adolescent girls in Padang City against the risk of sexual violence. This research applies a descriptive quantitative approach. The population in this study consisted of early adolescent girls aged 12 to 15 years in Padang City, with a total sample of 409 respondents selected using quota sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a modified self-protection scale based on the dimensions of self-defense and self-efficacy, which demonstrated high reliability (). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistical analysis assisted by SPSS software. The results showed that the empirical mean score (75.17) was higher than the hypothetical mean score (57.5), indicating a high level of self-protection among the respondents. Categorization analysis revealed that 52.6% of respondents fell into the very high category, 41.3% into the high category, 5.9% into the moderate category, and only 0.2% into the low category. These findings suggest that the majority of adolescent girls in Padang City possess strong self-protection capacities, driven by high self-defense mechanisms and solid self-efficacy in identifying, anticipating, and responding to situations involving potential sexual violence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the al-musaqah contract among oil palm farmers, analyze the profit-sharing system and the duration of the cooperation, and assess its conformity with Islamic economic principles in Bagan Nibung Village, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau. This study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Seventeen informants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of seven oil palm plantation owners, seven plantation managers, one religious leader, one community leader, and one village official. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was examined through triangulation, persistent observation, and member checking, while data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the oil palm plantation management practices in Bagan Nibung Village have fulfilled the basic elements of an al-musaqah contract, including the presence of plantation owners, managers, plantation objects, management activities, mutual agreements, and profit sharing. The contracts are generally concluded verbally based on mutual trust and local customs. The profit-sharing arrangements commonly use a 50:50 or 60:40 ratio after deducting certain operational expenses. However, the allocation of expenses for fertilizers, herbicides, harvesting, and transportation, as well as the rights and obligations of the parties and the duration of the cooperation, are not always clearly determined. From an Islamic economic perspective, these practices are substantially compatible with the principles of mutual consent, justice, trustworthiness, and mutual assistance and provide benefits to both parties. Nevertheless, their administrative implementation has not fully complied with Islamic economic principles and may still contain elements of gharar or uncertainty. Therefore, written agreements, transparency regarding operational expenses, clarification of the parties’ rights and obligations, and a definite cooperation period are required.
