Abstract

This study aims to examine the parenting patterns of working mothers in relation to the social-emotional development of children aged 4-5 years, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors of these parenting patterns at RA Nurul Ilmi Kalimulyo Jakenan Pati. Working mothers face the challenge of balancing work and childcare, making it important to examine how their parenting practices continue to support children's social-emotional development. This research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological case study approach. Primary data were obtained from the school principal, the class A teacher, and three parents (Ibu Erfin, Ibu Sri, and Ibu A'izzah) through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the parenting patterns applied by the three informants generally reflect an authoritative (democratic) parenting style, as conceptualized by Baumrind, characterized by warmth, two-way communication, clear rules, and responsiveness to children's needs, although each mother's strategy differed according to her work conditions. Supporting factors consisted of internal factors, namely the mothers' motivation and self-awareness, and external factors including family support, school support, and work flexibility. Inhibiting factors included limited time with children, physical and emotional fatigue, difficulty understanding children's emotions, differences in parenting styles among family members, and unexpected situational constraints. The study concludes that the social-emotional development of children aged 4-5 years is not solely determined by the quantity of time mothers spend with them, but rather by the quality and consistency of the parenting applied, which is reinforced by a layered support system from family, school, and work flexibility, as illustrated in Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory of development.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low academic resilience of Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 16 Surakarta, attributed to broken home family conditions. The aim is to examine the effectiveness of individual counseling using the Cognitive Restructuring technique in improving students' academic resilience. A Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) design based on John Elliot's cyclical model was employed, consisting of two cycles with four stages each: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subject was a student (initials FP) with low academic resilience. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, documentation, and an academic resilience scale measuring confidence, control, composure, and commitment. Results demonstrated consistent improvement: observation scores increased from 57.02% (pre-cycle) to 71.87% (Cycle I) and 83.59% (Cycle II); scale scores rose from 46.35% to 70.83% and 82.03%. It is concluded that individual counseling with the Cognitive Restructuring technique effectively enhances academic resilience by transforming irrational thought patterns into rational and adaptive ones. Keywords: individual counseling; cognitive restructuring; academic resilience; junior high school students; broken home

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of B.F. Skinner's Behaviorist learning theory in improving the learning motivation and classroom participation of first-grade students at SD Islam Az-Zikri Bone. The study employed a qualitative case study approach. The research subjects consisted of one classroom teacher as the primary informant and 48 first-grade students as the observation subjects. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The findings revealed that, at the beginning of the learning process, many students were passive, lacked self-confidence, and hesitated to answer the teacher's questions. To address this situation, the teacher provided learning stimuli through questions, instructions, and encouragement accompanied by positive reinforcement in the form of verbal praise, applause, thumbs-up gestures, and star rewards as a token economy system. The consistent application of positive reinforcement significantly improved students' confidence, participation, classroom engagement, and learning motivation. These findings demonstrate a stimulus-response-reinforcement pattern consistent with Skinner's operant conditioning theory, which states that behaviors followed by positive consequences are more likely to be repeated. This study concludes that the appropriate and proportional implementation of positive reinforcement creates a more interactive learning environment, enhances students' self-confidence, and strengthens learning motivation during the early years of elementary education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of understanding regarding fraction concepts among fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Tanjungsari, characterized by difficulties in grasping the meaning of fractions, comparing fraction values, and performing arithmetic operations with fractions. This situation was also influenced by the dominance of the lecture method, which tended to make students passive during the learning process. The study aimed to determine the effect of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions) cooperative learning model on students' understanding of fraction concepts. A quantitative experimental approach was employed using a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 20 fourth-grade students as subjects. Data collection utilized written tests comprising multiple-choice and essay questions, while data analysis involved normality testing, hypothesis testing (paired sample t-test), and N-Gain analysis. The results indicated an improvement in students' understanding of fraction concepts, evidenced by the average pretest score rising from 63.30 to 78.80 in the posttest. Hypothesis testing yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. The N-Gain analysis showed an average score of 0.4136 (41.36%), falling into the "medium" category and indicating a "less effective" level of effectiveness. Thus, it can be concluded that the STAD cooperative learning model significantly influences the understanding of fraction concepts among fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Tanjungsari. Consequently, the STAD model serves as a viable alternative for mathematics instruction, fostering a more active, collaborative, and meaningful learning experience for elementary school students.

Abstract

Traditional dance instruction in elementary schools plays an essential role in preserving cultural heritage while supporting students’ character development. However, participation in dance extracurricular activities remains relatively low because learning resources are limited and instructional approaches are often less engaging. This study examined the effect of Virtual Reality (VR)-assisted dolanan dance learning media on elementary school students’ interest in joining dance extracurricular activities. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design was employed. The participants were 30 elementary school students from SDN Kebonsari 2 who joined dance extracurricular activities and were equally divided into an experimental group and a control group (15 students each). Data were collected using a 20-item Likert-scale questionnaire measuring learning interest across five dimensions: enjoyment, curiosity, attention, active participation, and motivation. Instrument testing confirmed that all items were valid, with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.933, indicating excellent reliability. Data were analyzed using an independent-samples t-test. The results showed that VR-assisted learning media significantly increased students’ interest in dance extracurricular participation (p < 0.05). The experimental group achieved a higher mean score (67.67) than the control group (55.07), demonstrating the positive impact of the intervention. These findings suggest that integrating VR into dolanan dance instruction provides a more engaging learning experience and effectively enhances elementary school students’ interest in participating in dance extracurricular activities while supporting efforts to preserve traditional culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Scout Education as a strategy for strengthening character education among elementary school students in the Serang City area. The study was motivated by the declining interest of students in scouting activities due to the rapid advancement of digital technology, despite the strategic role of Scout Education in fostering character, leadership, independence, discipline, responsibility, and social awareness. This research employed a qualitative approach using a multi-site case study design involving several public and private elementary schools in Serang City. The research participants consisted of school principals, scout leaders, teachers, students, and parents, who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom and field observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The trustworthiness of the findings was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings reveal that the implementation of Scout Education effectively internalizes character values through habituation, role modeling, the patrol system, experiential learning (learning by doing), and leadership and community service activities. Scout Education significantly enhances students' discipline, responsibility, cooperation, social awareness, independence, and leadership skills. Its successful implementation is supported by school leadership, competent scout instructors, parental involvement, and adequate facilities, while declining student interest and the dominance of digital technology remain the primary challenges. This study concludes that Scout Education serves as an effective and sustainable strategy for strengthening character education and developing leadership competencies among elementary school students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The development of digital media has transformed da'wah patterns from conventional approaches into more interactive practices that reach wider audiences through social media platforms. This phenomenon raises the need to systematically examine how da'wah strategies are designed and implemented within the framework of persuasive communication, particularly in the digital da'wah content developed by Ustadz Adi Hidayat. This study aims to examine the pattern of da'wah strategy, analyze the implementation of persuasive communication principles (ethos, logos, and pathos), and assess the effectiveness of the strategy in influencing audience understanding and attitudes. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a content analysis approach toward da'wah material documented in video and transcript form, supported by secondary data from relevant academic literature. The findings show that Ustadz Adi Hidayat's da'wah strategy simultaneously integrates the three rhetorical elements: ethos built from academic and scholarly credibility, logos constructed through systematic explanation and whiteboard visualization, and pathos delivered through the bil mau'izhah al-hasanah approach. These three elements are proven effective in encouraging voluntary changes in religious understanding and attitudes among the audience. This study contributes theoretically and practically to the development of systematic digital da'wah strategies grounded in persuasive communication principles in the digital era.
