Abstract

This research aims to analyze the categories of illocutionary acts and how their corresponding felicity conditions are fulfilled as observed in the docuseries Taylor Swift: The End of an Era. Unlike traditional linguistic studies, this qualitative research deliberately confines its scope strictly to the production of illocutionary forces and the essential criteria that render these communicative acts valid and successful, without including politeness or perlocutionary effects. To systematically analyze the language phenomena, this study employed a descriptive qualitative method as the research methodology. Data were collected from the utterances spoken by the main subject across six episodes through comprehensive transcribing, note-taking, and categorizing based on John R. Searle's theoretical framework. The findings revealed a total of 522 analyzed utterances spread across the categories. Among these classifications, assertive acts emerged as the absolute dominant illocutionary acts with 330 utterances, driven by the biographical nature of the docuseries to state facts, explain creative processes, and report past memories. Furthermore, the analysis of felicity conditions demonstrated that the sincerity condition was the most dominant criterion fulfilled with 358 utterances, establishing the linguistic validity, social contract, and psychological authenticity of the spoken utterances. In conclusion, this research highlights how pragmatic competence operates within public narratives. The results imply that understanding illocutionary structures enables a deeper comprehension of how public figures construct meaning, project authentic personas, and maintain communicative efficacy in contemporary media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the readiness of Indonesian language teachers in implementing deep learning and to identify the obstacles they face and the solutions they apply. A descriptive method combining quantitative and qualitative approaches through data triangulation was used, involving 12 Indonesian language teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Kasihan, SMK Negeri 2 Yogyakarta, and SMA Negeri 1 Sedayu, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Miles and Huberman qualitative data analysis model. The results show that teacher readiness generally falls into the “Very Ready” category, with an overall mean questionnaire score of 3.33 out of a maximum of 4.00. Teachers faced obstacles such as limited technological proficiency, limited school facilities, administrative workload, heterogeneity of student ability, and a lack of practical socialization, which were addressed through training and workshops, empowering subject-teacher forums (MGMP) and learning communities, independent learning, differentiated instruction, and regular reflection. This study recommends strengthening continuous professional development and the equitable distribution of technological facilities to support the optimal implementation of deep learning.

Abstract

Learning activities are an essential factor in determining students' learning success because they reflect students' participation throughout the learning process. This study aimed to describe the learning activities of fourth-grade students in Indonesian language learning at SDN Tanjung Jati 2. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The participants consisted of one fourth-grade teacher and four students selected based on different levels of learning activity, namely very active, active, passive, and very passive. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the dominant learning activities were visual, oral, and listening activities, as reflected in students' attention to learning materials and media, participation in discussions, expression of opinions, and attentiveness to teachers' explanations and peer discussions. Other types of learning activities appeared less frequently because they depended on the learning objectives, instructional materials, and teaching strategies implemented. The study concludes that students' learning activities have not yet developed evenly across all indicators, highlighting the need for more varied instructional strategies to promote comprehensive student engagement.

Abstract

Digital transformation has positioned e-commerce as a strategic instrument for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to expand markets, improve efficiency, and sustain business continuity. This article synthesizes evidence on the role of e-commerce adoption in enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian MSMEs. A narrative review was conducted on 17 Scopus-indexed full-text articles. The initial search identified 42 documents, which were narrowed to 31 articles, 28 studies with an Indonesian context, 22 open-access articles, and 17 downloadable articles included in the analysis. The literature was examined according to research design, business context, adoption drivers and barriers, and consequences for performance and competitiveness. The synthesis indicates that e-commerce adoption is generally associated with wider market reach, higher sales, operational efficiency, productivity, customer engagement, and sustainability performance. These benefits, however, are conditional upon technological readiness, management support, digital competence, entrepreneurial and market orientation, financial literacy, product innovation, and the integration of social media and live-streaming. External conditions—particularly infrastructure, platform regulation, certification, and fair competition—also shape whether digital access becomes a competitive advantage. E-commerce should therefore be understood as a strategic capability rather than merely a sales channel. Empowerment policies should move beyond counting MSMEs onboarded onto platforms and focus on the depth of technology integration, analytics, differentiation, and digital ecosystem governance.

Abstract

Pancasila Education learning in elementary schools, particularly on the topic of Cultural Diversity in Indonesia, is still predominantly conducted through lecture-based instruction and the use of less interactive learning media. As a result, students tend to be passive and have difficulty developing a deep understanding of the material. This condition highlights the need for innovative learning media that can enhance student engagement and strengthen conceptual understanding. This study aimed to develop a Pop-Up Book learning medium for the topic of Cultural Diversity in Indonesia for fifth-grade elementary school students that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects included expert validators, fifth-grade teachers, and fifth-grade students from three elementary schools in Puncak Lawang. Data were collected through validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results indicated that the developed Pop-Up Book achieved an average validity score of 92.5%, which falls into the very valid category. The practicality test results showed that teachers' responses ranged from 95% to 97.5%, while students' responses ranged from 93.38% to 95.83%, all of which were categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test, based on the N-Gain Score analysis, yielded scores of 0.7217, 0.7607, and 0.7392 across the three schools, indicating a high level of effectiveness. These findings demonstrate that the developed learning medium is effective in improving students' learning outcomes. Therefore, the Pop-Up Book is considered suitable as an innovative alternative learning medium for teaching the topic of Cultural Diversity in Indonesia in Grade V elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate a training program on designing artificial intelligence (AI)-based assessments, focusing on the quality of the assessment products created by teachers. Although generative AI offers new opportunities for assessment design, teachers' ability to utilize it pedagogically requires strengthening through structured training. An evaluative research method with a descriptive quantitative approach was applied to 25 teachers participating in a five-stage training program: content delivery, AI demonstration, a design workshop, independent product development, and a presentation and feedback session. The products were assessed using a five-aspect rubric—alignment with learning objectives, instrument quality, authenticity, AI integration, and rubric quality—on a scale of 1 to 4. The results showed an overall average of 3.44 (categorized as "very good"), with the highest score in alignment with learning objectives (M=3.64) and the lowest in AI integration (M=3.08). 56% of participants achieved the "very good" category, while 44% fell into the "good" category. The findings indicate that product-based evaluation provides an authentic picture of teachers' competency attainment while identifying areas requiring improvement, particularly regarding the critical and reflective use of AI.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of self-control and digital payment behavior on the effectiveness of allowance management among Economics Education students at Universitas Jambi. The growing development of digital financial technology has encouraged students to use various digital payment services, including e-wallets, mobile banking, and QRIS, in their daily transactions. Although these services offer practical and efficient transaction methods, their use may also increase spending tendencies if not balanced with adequate self-control. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The population consisted of Economics Education students from the 2025 cohort at Universitas Jambi, and 97 students who actively used digital payment services were selected as research respondents through the total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistical analysis, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The findings show that self-control has a positive and significant effect on the effectiveness of allowance management. Digital payment behavior was also found to positively and significantly affect the effectiveness of allowance management. In addition, both variables simultaneously demonstrated a positive and significant influence on the effectiveness of allowance management. These findings imply that students who are able to regulate their behavior and use digital payment services responsibly tend to manage their financial resources more effectively. Therefore, strengthening self-control and encouraging responsible digital payment practices are essential to supporting effective financial management among university students in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of positive-suggestion-based hypnoteaching in expository text instruction and to interpret students’ responses to the practice in relation to their writing motivation. This study employed a qualitative approach with an interpretive case study design involving Grade 10 students SMA Islam Nurul Huda. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with the teacher and students, students’ written reflections, and analysis of instructional documents and students’ written work. The data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis through the stages of data familiarization, coding, theme development, theme review, theme definition, and interpretive writing. The findings indicate that the use of positive language, realistic affirmations, gradual instructional guidance, and supportive feedback created a safer learning environment and encouraged students’ engagement. These practices strengthened students’ confidence, willingness to express ideas, persistence in completing writing tasks, and readiness to revise their texts. However, positive suggestions did not automatically increase motivation because their significance depended on the authenticity of the teacher’s language, the quality of teacher–student relationships, and the clarity of academic scaffolding. These findings confirm that hypnoteaching can be understood as supportive pedagogical communication that promotes students’ motivation to write expository texts.
