Abstract

Cultural literacy is an essential life skill that needs to be instilled early on, especially in primary school education. This research aims to examine the urgency of cultural literacy as the foundation of character building and life skills for children in the era of globalization. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various literatures related to the concept, basic principles, and implementation of cultural literacy in education. The results of the study show that cultural literacy not only includes an understanding of cultural values, norms and symbols, but also cross-cultural communication skills, adaptation to differences, and utilization of cultural heritage in everyday life. In the context of basic learning, cultural literacy is proven to broaden students' horizons, strengthen cultural identity and foster tolerant attitudes. The integration of cultural literacy in education can be done through the curriculum, cooperation with local communities, and the use of media and creative activities. This research confirms that cultural literacy plays an important role in shaping individuals who are inclusive, nationalistic and resilient in facing global challenges. Therefore, a systematic and sustainable educational strategy is needed to effectively develop cultural literacy in the primary school environment.

Abstract

The Zoning-based New Student Admissions (PPDB) Policy is one of the government's efforts to encourage increased access to quality, equitable, and just education services. This study aims to analyze the government's policy on zoning-based PPDB. The results of the study indicate that the zoning-based PPDB policy can help improve the equality of education quality, reduce education gaps, and increase access to quality education services.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students at SDN 19 Koto Teratak. This occurred because teachers had not yet used effective learning models and media during the learning process. One model that can be used is the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, which encourages students to think critically in solving problems. This can be supported by the use of GeoGebra media, which can be applied in teaching simple three-dimensional net shapes. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement in students’ learning outcomes using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by GeoGebra on the topic of simple three-dimensional nets in Class V of UPT SDN 19 Koto Teratak. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) that uses both qualitative and quantitative approaches. It was carried out in two cycles, namely Cycle I (two meetings) and Cycle II (one meeting), and consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research instruments used included observation sheets, test sheets, and non-test instruments. The subjects of this study were the teacher and the fifth-grade students of SDN 29 Koto Teratak, totaling 22 students (9 boys and 13 girls). The results of the study show improvements in several areas: the Teaching Module in Cycle I obtained an average of 85.4% (Good), which increased to 95.8% (Very Good) in Cycle II; teacher activity in Cycle I averaged 87.5% (Good), which increased to 96.4% (Very Good) in Cycle II; student activity in Cycle I averaged 83.9% (Good), increasing to 96.4% (Very Good) in Cycle II; and student learning outcomes improved from an average score of 63.4 (Poor) in Cycle I Meeting 1, to 76.1 (Fair) in Cycle I Meeting 2, and further increased to 83.3 (Good) in Cycle II. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that learning simple three-dimensional nets using the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by GeoGebra can improve student learning outcomes in Class V of SDN 19 Koto Teratak.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of social media addiction on the mental health of Generation Z. Generation Z, consisting of individuals born between 1997 and 2012, is a cohort that grew up in the digital era and is highly connected to various social media platforms. Although social media offers various benefits, such as connectivity and access to information, excessive addiction can lead to various mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Through surveys and in-depth interviews with respondents from various backgrounds, this study identified patterns of social media use and its impact on psychological well-being. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between time spent on social media and increased negative mental health symptoms. This study provides important insights for parents, educators, and policymakers to understand the risks associated with social media use among Generation Z and encourage healthier usage practices and interventions needed to support their mental health.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the translation profession through a competency-based lens. It investigates how AI has changed the work pattern of translators and identifies both technical and non-technical competencies essential for translators to remain relevant in the AI era. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with professional translators who are members of the Indonesian Translators Association (HPI) in South Sulawesi. The findings indicate that while AI improves time efficiency and offers translation assistance, it still cannot replace human involvement in cultural and contextual translation aspects. The study highlights key skills required by translators such as CAT tool proficiency, post-editing capabilities, cultural awareness, critical and analytical thinking, decision-making, and endurance. These results provide practical implications for translator education and professional development in the age of automation.

Abstract

Banyak lembaga pendidikan yang tidak memiliki manajemen ekstrakurikuler yang baik, berbeda dengan beberapa institusi lainnya. Saat ini, manajemen ekstrakurikuler yang efektif sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa nonakademik dan mengembangkan keterampilan mereka. Salah satu contoh lembaga yang berhasil dalam hal ini adalah SD Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui beberapa tahap, termasuk pengkonsolidasian data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Validitas data dijamin melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manajemen ekstrakurikuler di SD Muhammadiyah Ponorogo melibatkan perencanaan yang matang dengan diadakannya rapat kerja setiap awal tahun ajaran baru, pelaksanaan kegiatan yang diselenggarakan, serta evaluasi rutin untuk meningkatkan efektivitas program. Implikasi dari manajemen ekstrakurikuler yang ada di SD Muhamamdiyah Ponorogo yaitu salah satu diantaranya banyak masyarakat yang mendaftarkan anaknya disekolah tersebut serta pandangan baik masyarakat terhadap SD Muhamamdiyah Ponorogo yang mengedepankan prestasi siswa. Manajemen ekstrakurikuler yang baik di SD Muhamamdiyah Ponorogo dibuktikan dengan banyaknya prestasi siswa baik regional maupun nasional.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited availability of Indonesian language learning media on the topic of emotions in Grade II at SDN Mangkang Kulon 01. The aim was to assess the validity, practicality, and responses to the use of flashcard learning media, with the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model and involving 14 grade II students. Data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews and documentation, which were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. Material validation scored 95% and media validation 94.5%, both categorized as very feasible. Student worksheet practicality reached 97.1% and categorized as very practical, teacher responses 90%, and student responses 95.3%, all rated as very good. The flashcard media was found to be valid, practical, and positively received, effectively increasing student engagement. It is recommended to use such media to help students understand emotions and to encourage teacher creativity in designing enjoyable and effective learning experiences.

Abstract

Analysis of the Use of Flash Card Media in Social Studies Subject for Fourth Grade at SD Negeri 1 Trirenggo Bantul. The main issue in this research is that the practice of implementing flash card media has not been specifically identified in terms of what the fourth-grade teacher does in Social Studies learning. The purpose of this study is to describe: 1) the planning, 2) the implementation of Social Studies learning using flash card media, and 3) students' responses to the use of flash card learning media in fourth-grade Social Studies at SD Trirenggo Bantul. The research method used is qualitative. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through: 1) Data reduction, 2) Data presentation, and 3) Drawing conclusions and verification. The results of the study show that: 1) The teacher has designed the flash card media in the teaching module and prepared the flash cards according to the material, 2) The learning implementation involved the use of flash card media through cooperative and presentation methods, 3) The students showed enthusiastic and joyful responses during the Social Studies learning process.

Abstract

Listening skill is a fundamental pillar in Arabic language acquisition, yet it often receives insufficient attention in instructional practice. On the other hand, the emergence of the digital-native generation calls for innovation in learning media that aligns with contemporary learning styles. This article aims to examine the potential of podcasting as an innovative tool in teaching Arabic listening skills. This research adopts a qualitative approach through a literature study, utilizing a range of scientific sources such as journals, academic books, and recent studies. The findings reveal that podcasts offer high flexibility, provide authentic language input, and can enhance learners’ motivation and autonomy. However, the integration of podcasts also faces several challenges, including infrastructure limitations, teacher readiness, and the variation of available Arabic-language content. Supported by language learning theories such as Comprehensible Input, Dual Coding, and Cognitive Load, podcasting is deemed feasible to be systematically integrated into Arabic listening curriculum. This article offers strategic recommendations and conceptual contributions for the development of adaptive and effective Arabic language learning models based on educational technology.

Abstract

The quality of primary education is a fundamental element in the development of qualified human resources. In an effort to improve the quality of education, the application of quality management principles, including the principle of customer focus, becomes crucial. Customer satisfaction, which includes students, parents, the community, and other stakeholders, is a key indicator in assessing the success of an educational institution. Identifying the needs and expectations of education service users is essential in providing adequate and satisfactory services. This study highlights the importance of customer satisfaction in the context of primary education as a benchmark for the success of educational delivery. Effective communication between teachers and students, as well as responsiveness to feedback and inquiries from customers, plays an integral role in improving educational service quality. By understanding and analyzing customer satisfaction, educational institutions can continuously innovate and enhance the quality of the services they provide.
