Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical condition of Central Java bolavoli athletes after the 2024 National Sports Week held in Aceh-North Sumatra. This research is quantitative descriptive research, data obtained from a survey of athletes' physical condition tests organized by the Central Java Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) which was held at the Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang on June 12, 2025. The data collection technique in this study is data sampling, where not the entire population is used but based on criteria, namely Central Java volleyball athletes who take part in Long-Term Regional Training. The results of this study indicate that female athletes generally show a more even physical condition and tend to be in the excellent category in almost all aspects tested, such as flexibility, leg power, arm muscle endurance, abdominal muscle endurance, back muscle strength, leg muscle strength, general endurance, agility, and speed. Meanwhile, male athletes showed greater variation in each component of physical condition, with dominance based on the good and excellent categories, but there were also some aspects that were still in the moderate to deficient category. As a result, there are differences in the consistency of physical conditions between male and female athletes that can be taken into consideration in the preparation and planning of more specific and targeted training programs according to the needs of each group.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to determine the extent to which the part and whole approach helps Physical Education students at Bengkulu University in memorizing the series of movements of Senam Anak Indonesia Hebat (SAIH). Students often experience difficulties in memorizing and practicing rhythmic gymnastics movements due to the complexity and accuracy required in the routine. This research utilized a qualitative approach by conducting a comprehensive assessment of various academic publications and previous studies. Students demonstrated better understanding and retention of the routines when taught using the Part and Whole approach. This technique involves breaking down movements into component parts and then recombining them into a whole. This strategy has been shown to improve motor skills, movement accuracy, and speed of adaptation, according to previous research conducted by experts. As a result, the part and whole approach is considered a highly effective method for teaching rhythmic gymnastics as it provides a sustainable framework for improving memorization skills in physical education.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative research with a descriptive correlational approach. This research aims to determine the relationship between smoking behavior and physical fitness in male students ofJunior High School 22 Sigi. The sample used in this study were 10 male students in grades VII and VIII of Junior High School 22 Sigi. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the level of physical fitness of students who are classified as smokers tends to be low. Of the 10 smoker students, only 2 students (20%) have physical fitness in the "Good" category, while most are in the "Moderate" to "Poor" category. A total of 3 students (30%) are included in the "Moderate" category, 4 students (40%) are in the "Poor" category, and there is even 1 student (10%) who is in the "Very Poor" category. Thus, it can be concluded that smoking habits have a negative correlation with students' physical fitness, where the higher the intensity or duration of smoking, the lower the level of physical fitness

Abstract

This study seeks to examine the correlation between arm muscular power, hand–eye coordination, and overhand serve performance among participants of the Volleyball Student Activity Unit at the University of Lampung. A quantitative correlational method was utilized, involving 15 male participants selected through purposive sampling. In this study, arm muscle power was evaluated using the two-hand medicine ball throw test, the ball throw-and-catch test for hand-eye coordination, and the AAHPERD test to assess overhand serve capability.  The Pearson Product–Moment correlation approach was employed for data analysis. The findings demonstrated a robust and statistically significant correlation between arm muscular strength (r = 0.807; p = 0.001) and hand–eye coordination (r = 0.908; p = 0.001) with overhand serve performance.  Upon simultaneous examination, both variables exhibited a robust connection (r = 0.759; p = 0.001), with hand–eye coordination demonstrating a more pronounced effect. The efficacy of the overhand serve is contingent upon the interplay of arm muscular strength and hand–eye coordination.  Consequently, volleyball training programs must prioritize muscular strengthening and coordination enhancement to maximize serving efficacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the influence of cup stacking games on participants’ fine motor skills, specifically to (1) measure changes in hand speed and hand–eye coordination, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of cup stacking as a fine motor stimulator, and (3) provide practical recommendations for implementing this activity in educational or recreational fitness settings. The study employed an experimental design using a pretest–posttest control group method. A total of 20 participants aged 6–10 years were purposively selected and equally divided into control and experimental groups. Both groups completed a standardized fine motor test before and after the intervention. The experimental group received cup stacking training for three weeks (three sessions per week, 40 minutes each), consisting of progressive coordination and reflex exercises. Data were analyzed using parametric statistical tests after normality and homogeneity assumptions were confirmed. The Paired Samples t-Test showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (t = −5.891, p < 0.001), indicating that cup stacking effectively improved participants’ fine motor abilities. However, the Independent Samples t-Test revealed no significant difference between the control and experimental groups (p = 0.137), suggesting that both groups improved, but not to a statistically distinct degree. These findings confirm that cup stacking has a positive and measurable influence on fine motor enhancement through repeated, coordinated, and visually guided hand movements. The activity stimulates motor learning processes, supports neuromuscular adaptation, and can be implemented as a low-cost and engaging training method in educational or recreational environments. In conclusion, cup stacking represents an innovative and enjoyable approach for fine motor development, encouraging further research with larger samples, longer interventions, and advanced assessments such as biomechanical or neurophysiological analyses to explore its broader impact on motor performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical condition of female handball athletes at the Special Sports School (SKO) in Riau Province. Good physical condition is crucial for athletes, especially in sports like handball, which require speed, endurance, strength, and body coordination. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with an observational approach through a cross-sectional survey. The sample consisted of 14 female handball athletes at SKO in Riau Province. Data were collected using the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI), which includes five components: a 60-meter run, a 60-second hang lift, a 60-second sit-down, a vertical jump, and a 1200-meter run. The results showed that the physical condition of female athletes was generally in the good (71.43%) and moderate (28.57%) categories. No respondents were in the poor or very poor categories. The best physical component was the sit-down test, with 78% in the good to excellent category. Aspects that need to be improved are the endurance and strength of the arm and shoulder muscles (64.28% in the moderate category) and explosive power of the legs (57.14% in the moderate to low category). These results indicate that the training program at the Riau Province SKO is quite effective, but improvements in upper-body strength and leg explosiveness training are needed to optimize athlete performance. Therefore, this study can serve as a reference for coaches and trainers at the Riau Province SKO in developing more specific, data-driven training programs to improve the physical fitness and performance of handball athletes at the regional and national levels.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between leg muscle strength and shooting accuracy in soccer among 10th-grade students at Senior High School 1 Pagelaran using a quantitative correlational design. The population consisted of all 10th-grade students participating in physical education, with a purposive sample of 36 students. Data were collected using a leg dynamometer to measure leg strength and a partitioned goal test to assess shooting accuracy. The data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with SPSS version 27 after fulfilling normality and linearity requirements. The results revealed a very strong and significant correlation between leg muscle strength and shooting accuracy, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.925 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings suggest that students with greater leg muscle strength demonstrate higher shooting accuracy in soccer, supporting the biomechanical theory that leg strength contributes to power generation, stability, and ball control during kicking. Thus, it can be concluded that leg muscle strength plays a crucial role in enhancing shooting accuracy. The findings are expected to assist physical education teachers in designing structured training programs to improve students’ soccer performance.
