Abstract

Background: The importance of comprehensive evaluation techniques in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is critical for fostering students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development. Purpose: This study analyzes the evaluation techniques in the "Islamic Religious Education and Ethics" textbook for Grade XI students, published by the Ministry of Religion of Indonesia. It examines both test-based and non-test-based approaches, highlighting their limitations in assessing affective and psychomotor aspects critical for student character and skills development. Method: Using qualitative methods, including document analysis and expert interviews, the study suggests incorporating digital-based evaluations to enhance character assessment and religious skills. Result: Recommendations include project-based assessments, interactive multimedia tests, digital portfolios, and game-based learning. Conclusion: The integration of digital tools is proposed to offer a comprehensive evaluation of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions in religious education.

Abstract

Background: In the context of vocational education increasingly influenced by the demands of the modern workforce, the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum at SMK Armaniyah Bekasi faces challenges in aligning religious values with the practical skills required in the workplace. Purpose: This study aims to identify the challenges and opportunities faced by the PAI curriculum in preparing students for the demands of the modern workforce. Method: Using a descriptive qualitative approach and case study method, the research analyzes the gap between the existing curriculum content and the skills needed in the labor market. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. Result: The findings indicate that the PAI curriculum at SMK Armaniyah focuses more on religious theory, neglecting the development of practical skills required by the workforce. Conventional teaching methods also pose a barrier to the development of students' competencies. Conclusion: However, the study identifies several opportunities, such as the integration of work ethics, the use of technology in teaching, and collaboration with the industry. To enhance the relevance of the PAI curriculum, it is recommended that the school develop a curriculum focused on skills and social values, while also leveraging technology and industry partnerships to provide students with direct work experience.

Abstract

Background: The background of this research stems from the need to align Islamic teachings with the pressing challenges of cleanliness and environmental preservation. Based on normative analysis of the ideas of Mustafa Abu Sway and Abdullah Qasim al-Washli, this study expands the interpretation of Quranic texts and Hadith. Purpose: This research discusses the concept of holistic hygiene jurisprudence in Islamic educational institutions, focusing on the cleanliness of faith, self, environment, and moral-spiritual dimensions. Method: The research employs a literature review and phenomenological approach, using secondary sources such as the Quran, Hadith, and fiqh texts from renowned scholars. Interviews at the Darul Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School in Bogor, Indonesia, serve as the primary data source. Result: The findings support Imam al-Ghazali's view of integrating various aspects of cleanliness, with an emphasis on environmental hygiene as part of nature conservation. This framework aligns with Tu Wei Ming's anthropocosmic perspective, which places humans as an integral part of nature, and counters the anthropocentric paradigm that contributes to environmental degradation. Conclusion: This study highlights the application of holistic hygiene practices in Islamic education, offering a model for integrating faith, personal hygiene, environmental care, and moral-spiritual purity in educational settings.

Abstract

Background: In the context of rapid technological advancements and the transition from Industry 4.0 to 5.0, character education faces new challenges. Purpose: To address these, this study develops and tests the effectiveness of digital flipbook media in enhancing the religious character of 10th-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Warungasem. Method: Using the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the study assesses the feasibility and impact of the flipbook media. Result: Results from expert evaluations show high feasibility, with media experts rating it at 88%, material experts at 94.29%, and small-scale trials at 97.14%. Large-scale trials also yielded a strong feasibility rating of 90.58%. Pretest and posttest scores revealed significant improvement in students' religious character, with average scores increasing from 51.85 to 78.89. Statistical analysis, including a paired samples t-test (t = 9.113, p = 0.000), confirmed the media’s effectiveness. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that digital flipbook media is a highly effective tool for enhancing students’ religious character, offering an engaging and interactive approach to character education.

Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted education in Indonesia, leading to a shift to distance learning to prevent the virus's spread in schools and madrasahs. Purpose: This study aims to improve teachers' competence in distance learning by utilizing Zoom, video, and Google Meeting. The research is based on a two-day workshop for teachers with more than two years of experience at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Insan Saleh. Method: Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Result: The workshop findings show that teachers and staff who attended gained a strong understanding of using modern technology for distance learning. Initially, there were technical challenges, but these were promptly addressed with training and hands-on support from the instructors. As a result, teachers were able to effectively use Zoom, Google Meeting, and video for teaching, improving both their confidence and their students' engagement. Conclusion: The study concludes that such workshops are an effective strategy to enhance teachers' digital competencies, helping them adapt to distance learning and ensure high-quality education despite technological challenges.

Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, character development through education is essential to address moral decay in society. Purpose: This study examines the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping students' character by instilling moral values and ethical behavior. Method: Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving PAI teachers, students, and school officials. Result: The research highlights the significant role of PAI in fostering values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and mutual respect. Teachers act not only as educators but also as moral role models, guiding students to apply these values in daily life. However, challenges such as limited instructional time, varying religious understandings among students, and insufficient support from families and the community hinder the full potential of character development. Conclusion: This study suggests that schools should integrate religious values across all learning activities and involve parents in the character-building process to better support students in developing strong moral foundations.

Abstract

Background: The formation of Islamic character in the educational environment, especially in madrasas, is crucial for building students' moral and ethical foundations. Purpose: This research examines the role of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers in fostering students' Islamic character through an integrative thematic learning approach adapted to technological developments in the digital era. Method: Using a qualitative case study at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Tarbiyatul Athfal, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively. Result: The findings reveal that teachers who employ an integrative thematic approach effectively link lesson material to Islamic values, enabling students to understand and apply religious principles in daily life. Additionally, while the use of digital technology is still limited, teachers who manage digital tools well can enhance student motivation and engagement. The study also found that integrating technology with Islamic values helps students internalize Islamic character more deeply. Conclusion: The research underscores the importance of teacher training in utilizing technology as an effective learning tool, suggesting that madrasas should provide adequate support for teachers to integrate technology with Islamic character education.
