Abstract

Background: This study explored and evaluated accessibility services at PTKIN (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Negeri or State Islamic Religious Universities) after institutional transformation. The vision of institutional change that is more universal and inclusive is one of the triggers to see the extent to which Islamic higher education institutions have realized their commitment to accessibility services. Purpose: This study had examined the policy and implementation of accessibility services in the aspects of policy, practice, and institutional culture at PTKIN, with the main focus on UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, which has undergone transformation from an institute to a university. Method: This study used a qualitative case study approach. UIN Imam Bonjol Padang as the object of research by considering aspects of the fulfillment of institutional transformation elements from institute to university. Data collection techniques were through interviews, observation, and document analysis. Result: The results of this study showed that the institutional transformation of PTKIN in this study has not been in line with the fulfillment of the accessibility rights of educational institutions. UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, as a case study, still shows a lack of concrete policies in accessibility services for students. The absence of specific policies and limited accessibility infrastructure are the main factors that hinder the fulfillment of educational rights for students with special needs. Conclusion: This study confirms that PTKIN needs to prioritize accessibility as part of its post-transformation institutional policy. The main recommendations in this study are the need for clearer and more implementable policies, the development of infrastructure that supports accessibility, and increasing the awareness of the academic community of the importance of inclusive education services. Thus, institutional transformation is not only a change in administrative status, but also reflects an increase in the quality of educational services for all without discrimination.

Abstract

Background: This study is motivated by the need to develop an educational paradigm that not only focuses on character education but also expands its scope by integrating prophetic values into the education system. Purpose: The study examines the implementation of prophetic values (ṣiddīq, amānah, tablīgh, faṭānah) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro). Method: Using a qualitative approach and grounded theory methodology, data was collected through interviews, documentation, and observations, and analyzed using Miles & Huberman's interactive model. Result: The findings reveal that prophetic values are integrated into the curriculum through the "mosque of science" model, which incorporates AIK (Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah) courses across all faculties. This research introduces the theory of holistic integrative prophetic-based education, which not only enhances academic performance but also strengthens moral and ethical character in line with Islamic teachings. Conclusion: The recommendations of this study include evaluating the relevance of education, improving lecturer competence, and conducting further research on the impact of prophetic-based education.

Abstract

Background: Edutainment in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in schools and madrasas has the potential to develop comprehensive, critical, and reflective reading and writing literacy, in line with the demands of 21st-century education. Indonesia's low literacy level, as indicated by PISA assessments, highlights the need for innovative and inclusive educational approaches. Purpose: This study aims to explore how edutainment develops reading and writing literacy in PAI learning, identifying implemented activities and analyzing their impact at SD Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya and MI Narrative Quran Lamongan. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design; data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, surveys, and documentation. Informants included 20 interview participants and 40 students for the survey. Data analysis included reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation ensuring data validity. Results: The results show that edutainment in developing reading and writing literacy in PAI encompasses six elements: learning environment, interactive media, educational games, literacy activities, project-based evaluation, and creative expression, known as the EDULITA concept. Reading and writing literacy within EDULITA goes beyond understanding, analyzing, and communicating information by integrating creativity, interaction, and reflection. Activities such as interactive quizzes, musicalization, group discussions, video watching, storytelling, and project-based literacy positively impact students' comprehension, analysis, communication, and creativity. Conclusion: Edutainment facilitates the development of students who are more creative, critical, and reflective and who can internalize Islamic values in PAI learning.

Abstract

Background: This research is motivated by the growing concern over the psychological challenges faced by students from broken home families and the role of education in mitigating these challenges. Purpose: This study explores the role of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers in helping students from broken home families develop coping mechanisms. It investigates the problems and psychological impacts faced by these students and the methods used by IRE teachers to support them. Method: This qualitative case study involves five IRE teachers and five students with broken home backgrounds from Al Fattah Junior High School in Tangerang Regency. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Result: The study finds that broken home situations, including parental divorce, economic difficulties, communication breakdowns, and neglect, lead to negative impacts on students' behavior and well-being. However, IRE teachers help students cope by fostering positive thinking, self-control, patience, and a sense of resilience through prayer, dhikr, and sincerity. Conclusion: The findings highlight the significant influence of IRE teachers in guiding these students toward emotional regulation, optimism, and a positive outlook on life, thereby improving their academic engagement and personal development.

Abstract

Background: In the face of increasing radicalism and intolerance, Islamic education in Indonesia plays a crucial role in fostering religious moderation. Purpose: This study examines the role of Islamic education in promoting religious moderation in Indonesia, focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital and globalized era. Method: Using a qualitative approach with a literature review, the study analyzes data from journals, research reports, and academic articles on religious moderation and Islamic education. Abstract

Background: The culture of shame plays a strategic role in Islamic boarding schools, serving as a foundation for character education and fostering ethical and moral development among students. At Ma’had Darul Qur’an Wal Hadis Al-Majidiyyah Al-Syafi’iyyah Nahdlatul Wathan Lombok, the culture of shame is essential in shaping the character of students, yet its mechanisms and outcomes remain underexplored. Purpose: This study aims to examine the factors influencing the development of a culture of shame and its role in shaping the ethical and moral character of students within the context of traditional Islamic education. Method: A qualitative approach was adopted, utilizing observations, in-depth interviews with key informants, and document analysis. The study is grounded in a theoretical framework integrating Islamic educational values and sociocultural perspectives to analyze character-building mechanisms. Result: The findings reveal that the culture of shame is cultivated through spiritual exemplification inspired by the Kitab Ta'lim al-Muta’allim, social reinforcement emphasizing collective ethics, and moral role modeling provided by the Masysyaikhul Ma’had. A significant element of this process is the study of classical Islamic texts covering disciplines such as tafsir, hadith, jurisprudence, theology, and Sufism. Notable texts include Tafsir Jalālayn, Bulūgh al-Marām, Al-Waraqat, and Minhāj al-‘Abidīn. This educational approach fosters an environment that instills shame as a mechanism of self-control and ethical reflection. Conclusion: The culture of shame functions not only as a social mechanism but also as a spiritual strategy for moral character development. This highlights the relevance of traditional Islamic education in building the ethical and religious foundation of young generations.
