Abstract

This study examines the career guidance program's effectiveness in developing the employability skills of Ariyanti Academy of Secretary and Management students. This study uses a positivism paradigm with reductionistic characteristics, oriented to causal relationships, logical, empirical, and deterministic based on a priori theory. The approach given in this study is a quantitative approach using quasi-experimental methods. This study compared the pretest scores and posttest scores of the experimental group and the control group. The main findings reveal that the Savickas theory-based career guidance program effectively develops the work skills of Ariyanti Academy of Secretary and Management students from cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This study provides suggestions for guidance and counseling practitioners to equip themselves with an understanding of student work skills.

Abstract

Promoting tolerance is vital to reduce prejudice and discrimination towards outgroups. Therefore, family and school are essential in encouraging children's tolerance as an immediate environment. This literature review provides an overview of the role of family and school in promoting tolerance in children to reduce prejudice toward outgroups. We used the standard systematic literature review method employing a manual search of articles through the keywords, i.e., children, family, school, prejudice, and tolerance. The data source was obtained online using ProQuest, Taylor & Francis (Social Sciences & Humanities Subject), and Ebscohost. There are 41 articles included in quality appraisal using the qualitative assessment. We concluded that family and school, as an immediate environment of child development, are essential in promoting tolerance to prevent negative prejudice towards outgroups. This literature review may have implications, especially for the family and school environment, in enhancing children's tolerant attitude as early as possible over several activities to increase knowledge about their outgroups.

Abstract

Recently, no research was found to differentiate reading motivation but focused on reading interest, so this research aimed to look at differences in students' reading motivation based on school type and gender because these two issues are rarely analyzed. Two hypotheses are proposed, namely (H1) There are differences in reading motivation based on gender (H2) There are differences in reading motivation based on school type. Strata took samples and data using a reading motivation scale, which will then be analyzed using a t-test. The results of this study explain that there are no differences in rural students' reading motivation based on gender, meaning that this study rejects the first alternative hypothesis. However, we accept the second alternative hypothesis because it proves differences in reading motivation based on school type. The impacts and recommendations are explained later in this research.

Abstract

The background to this research is that there is a contradiction in the findings of the relationship between self-control and online game addiction in previous research. Apart from that, research is rarely conducted on adolescents because previous findings focused more on adults. This research aims to determine whether there is a negative and significant relationship between self-control and online game addiction in adolescents. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this research are adolescent online game players. In this study, a sample size of 101 teenage respondents was used. The data collection technique for this research was carried out by distributing questionnaires. The data analysis technique in this research uses descriptive analysis, classical assumption tests, and interventional analysis using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The research results show that there is a significant negative relationship between self-control and online game addiction in adolescents. The result of the determinant coefficient (r2) in this study is (-0.473)2, meaning that self-control has an influence of 22.37%, and means that there are still 77.63% of other variables that impact online game addiction. Implications of this study are expected that adolescents can have good self-control so that when playing online games, they can control themselves so they don't become addicted to playing.

Someone hardworking will be able to adapt to various challenging situations. They have self-control and commitment to achieve their goals. Therefore, the values of hardiness need to be instilled in children’s early childhood to make them grow up to be individuals with high fighting spirits and be able to face difficulties and unpleasant situations. This study aims to determine the effect of storytelling on the development of hardiness traits in early childhood children. This research used an untreated control group design with dependent pretest and post-test samples. The study participants were 20 children between 5 and 6 years old. They were divided into control and experimental groups, consisting of consistent. The research used 12 colored pictures sized 21cm-14.5cm as the instruments. Those instruments were arranged based on aspects and indicators of hardiness. Data analysis used Anava mixed design, showing that storytelling could form hardiness. Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of school-based family counseling (SBFC) implementation at the early childhood education level. Using a descriptive exploratory method, data was collected through observation, scheduling, structured interviews, and documentation study techniques. The research was carried out at TK LabSchool UPI Campus in Serang. The research subjects comprised the school principal, teachers, parents of students, and counselors. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively using an interactive model that included data display, reduction, and generalization. The study's results revealed the following findings: (1) The school-based family counseling conducted at TK LabSchool UPI Campus in Serang is a formal activity in psychotherapy intervention using a family system perspective, implemented in the school using school facilities and infrastructure. Each session is conducted in the form of a dyad (consisting of one parent and one child), a triad (two parents and one child), or a small group (two parents, one child, and one or more relatives outside the nuclear family). Counseling is carried out with attention to individual rights and informed consent, usually conducted in more than one session, and is not a parent conference or parent consultation. (2) The school must meet several requirements before implementing SBFC. (3) The study on the implementation of SBFC at the early childhood education level raises several considerations and challenges for future research.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of School Counselors in placement and distribution services by comparing two patterns, namely majors in the 2013 Curriculum at SMAN 5 Bengkulu and subject selection in the Merdeka Curriculum at SMAN 3 Bengkulu Selatan. The research methodology used is a comparative approach with a qualitative descriptive method, using in-depth interviews with School Counselors as participants regarding the patterns used by the two schools. The first study's results show that School Counselors at SMAN 5 Bengkulu with the 2013 curriculum are more active and understand the typical yearly majoring pattern for Class X students. The data used are recommendations from the originating junior high school, parental support, and psychological test results that are not available. Alums and professionals who provide information and motivation are brought in to strengthen the process. The weakness is that choosing majors in SNPTN must consider the value of science majors such as Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. On the other hand, School Counselors at SMAN 3 Bengkulu Selatan, with the independent Merdeka curriculum, must be more innovative and creative in subject selection carried out in Grade XI. The data used is a majoring questionnaire with a choice of 5 subjects (3 in science and 2 in social studies, or 2 in science and 3 in social studies), and each choice is adjusted to the majors to be taken, with one subject choice for each major in tertiary institutions. Psychological test results that still need to be available in the school and a questionnaire signed by parents are also required. The difficulty lies in moving classes simultaneously, as well as differences in the wishes of parents and children.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a broad global impact, including fear of disease and the lockdown situation. This situation has led to a significant increase in interest in various forms of digital entertainment, especially online games. The high number of online game users provides many benefits, but it also creates the problem of gaming interruption. This study aims to comprehensively explain the factors that influence gaming disorder and the impact it causes using a systematic literature review method of 60 research journal articles indexed by Scopus. From the results of this study, it was found that several factors influence gaming disorder, including feelings of loneliness, boredom, feelings of loss of meaning in life, low self-compassion, stress, increased playing time, and psychological comorbidities. Meanwhile, gaming disorder also has a physical impact, which causes a decrease in the quality of life of individuals, such as the emergence of sleep disturbances and insomnia, affecting individual basic needs such as eating and personal hygiene, obsessive characteristic psychological disorders, and even reducing empathy. In addition, changes in the education system where schools are held online give students a lot of free time, resulting in increased aggressive behavior among them. Early detection of factors that influence gaming disorder requires family support and supervision. This has implications for prevention and early intervention for policymakers and game developers.

Abstract

The rise in cases of bullying committed by students has a detrimental impact not only on the victims but also on the perpetrators. This impact is not only felt during the period when bullying behavior occurs but can continue until the perpetrator and victim enter adulthood. This bullying problem must be addressed in several ways, one of which is psychoeducation. This research aims to determine the effect of providing information about bullying on the emergence of empathy in class VI students at MIM Gonilan. The method used in this research is a quantitative experimental one-group pre-and post-test design. The sample in this study was 47 class VI students at MIM Gonilan. After being given the material, students were given a pre-test and post-test to determine the level of student empathy in cases of bullying. The results of the analysis show the value of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.004 <0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. This shows the importance of providing bullying material and each student's empathy.
