Abstract

This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of Pliek U ethanol extract cream against Staphylococcus aureus. The method was an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) on five treatments, namely positive control, negative control, F1, F2, and F3, each with four repetitions. Antibacterial testing was carried out using the disc diffusion method. The results showed that the average diameters of F1, F2 and F3 were 12.65 mm, 14.9 mm and 12.92 mm, which were included in the solid antibacterial category in inhibiting the activity of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Pliek U can be formulated as a cream preparation, meets the requirements for quality tests for cream preparations and has met SNI standard parameters. In conclusion, Pliek U ethanol extract cream has antibacterial activity with the most optimum effectiveness at a concentration of 5%. Keywords: Antibacterial, Cream, Pliek U, Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' initial science process skills and self-efficacy in Microbiology courses. The method used is the descriptive method. The data in this study were obtained through observation sheet instruments on science process skills and questionnaires related to self-efficacy. The measured science process skills indicators included 10 indicators: observing, classifying, finding conclusions, predicting, communicating, hypothesizing, planning experiments, manipulating materials and equipment, and applying and raising questions. The self-efficacy indicators studied are magnitude, strength and generality. The results showed that the average score of students' initial science process skill abilities was 67.2, while the student's initial self-efficacy score was 78. Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of giving goat urine POC and spacing on the growth response and yield of the luffa plant (Luffa acutangula). The method used was factorial RAK on two treatment factors (planting distance and giving POC goat urine) with three replications. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of flowers, number of fruit and fresh fruit weight. The results showed that setting spacing significantly affected all parameters used, with the best spacing being: J2 = 40x50 cm. Administration of goat urine POC did not significantly affect the parameter of fresh fruit weight (ounces), but the best level of giving goat urine POC was U4 = 60 ml/L. As for the interaction between plant spacing and administration of goat urine POC, it has no significant effect on one parameter, namely fresh fruit weight. In conclusion, setting spacing is the most effective way to increase production and profits for gambas farmers. Keywords: Gambas, Planting distance, Goat Urine POC

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the community structure of phytoplankton in ex-gold mining ponds for fish farming in Nagari Muaro, Sijunjung District, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra. The method used is a descriptive survey. Purposive sampling was done by determining the location of the phytoplankton sampling. The results showed that there were three divisions of phytoplankton (Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta and Crysophyta) and 17 genera. The highest relative abundance (KR) was found in the Pediastrum genus of 22.9 with an average diversity index of 3.72, an evenness index of 0.72 and a dominance index of 0.16. The results of the measurement of physical factors, namely the average turbidity of 3.53 NTU, the average water temperature of 32oC and the average water pH of 6. The results of the measurement of the chemical factors of the average water are DO of water of 5.15 ppm, BOD = 1.77 ppm, COD = 26.45 ppm, CO2 = 18.29 ppm and measured levels of mercury (Hg) ranged from 0 – 0.05 ppm. In conclusion, the abundance of phytoplankton is in the low category with a moderate diversity index and the waters are classified as stable. Abstract

This study aims to explore perceptions related to the learning process and students' needs for environment-based learning media in the Biology Education Study Program at PGRI Silampari University. The method used is survey research with research samples, namely students who take Environmental Science courses and lecturers of the course. The study results show that the teaching-learning process in Environmental Sciences only takes place in the classroom using E-Books and relevant materials packaged in PPT as teaching material sources due to limited time for lectures. Student perceptions and criteria for the development of learning media from lecturers refer to the packaging of learning media products that contain information related to Environmental Science with the right material objectives and concepts, are easy to understand, interactive, easy to use, contain animation and media display must be attractive. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop learning media to make the learning atmosphere more fun, interactive and exciting, one of which is through the development of Learning Blog media. Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of lipolytic bacteria to degrade lipids by obtaining isolates of lipolytic bacteria in palm oil industrial wastewater. By testing the ability of the lipolytic index, the research method used is a description method with bacterial isolation techniques using NA media (Nutrient Agar) and selective media for lipolytic agar. The results showed that there were 10 isolates of lipolytic bacteria with morphological and biochemical characteristics indicating three bacterial genera, namely, the genera Bacillus, Pseudomonas, and Klebsiella. Data analysis showed that 10 isolates of lipolytic bacteria had the potential to degrade lipids; the highest lipolytic activity index value of the isolates was found in isolate BL1 at 0.48 mm, and the lowest lipolytic index was found in isolate BL9 at 0.16 mm. In conclusion, isolating and identifying lipolytic bacteria in palm oil wastewater is one way to reduce environmental pollution that damages existing ecosystems in the environment. Abstract

This study aims to determine the best treatment of spacing, pruning, and their interactions on vegetative growth in the black soybean cultivar Glycine max L. The method used was factorial RAK with 3 replications: 1st factor of Detam 3 (K1) and Detam 4 (K2) cultivars; 2nd factor, J1 = 20 cm 20 cm and J2 = 20 cm 40 cm; 3rd factor, -3 trimming (P1) and no trimming (P2). Parameters observed were plant height, number of active root nodules, number of leaves, number of production branches, and chlorophyll content. The results showed that the treatment of J1 spacing (20 cm x 20 cm) had a significant effect on all research parameters, namely plant height, number of production branches, number of leaves, chlorophyll content, and number of root nodules. Treatment P1 (pruning) had a significant effect on plant height and chlorophyll content; P2 (no pruning) had a significant effect on the number of production branches, number of leaves, and number of root nodules. Treatment of cultivar type K1 (Cultivar Detam 3) had a significant effect on all types of parameters. It can be concluded from this study that there is no interaction between planting distance, pruning, and cultivar type on vegetative growth in black soybeans (Glycine max L).
