Abstract

Numerous incidents of verbal sexual harassment are frequently encountered, and in conjunction with the rapid advancements in technology, such actions have become increasingly prevalent. The proliferation of information technology has made information more accessible, exemplified by the emergence of dating applications, demonstrating the speed of the digital world. The current impact of technological swiftness exhibits both positive and negative consequences. This study seeks to examine Indonesian legal regulations pertaining to verbal sexual harassment via dating applications. This research employs a normative research approach, characterized as a legal library research method. The findings of this study indicate that the investigation primarily relies on secondary legal materials, encompassing both primary and secondary legal sources. Up to this point, the legal protection provided by Indonesia to victims of verbal sexual harassment through dating apps predominantly relies on the penal sanctions outlined in the Penal Code, specifically under Chapter XIV addressing Crimes Against Morality, as well as several other relevant legislations governing this matter.

Abstract

Israel's attack on Palestinian Gaza left thousands of people dead, including both women and children. In addition, many public facilities such as hospitals, mosques, and refugee camps were damaged. Sympathy for Palestinian Gaza residents has emerged in various countries worldwide. One of them is in the form of a boycott of products that are indicated to be related to Israel. The purpose of this research was to investigate the motivations behind the boycott of goods and services related to Israel in response to the war launched by Israel in Gaza, Palestine, on October 7, 2023, by some Muslim countries and other democratic nations across the globe. The study aimed to determine whether the boycott was driven by political or economic interests alone. This research is a descriptive qualitative research and data collection technique that searches for documents published in various online media in Indonesia and various other countries. The data analysis technique uses the content analysis of published news. The findings of the study revealed that the primary objective of the boycott, which was to put an end to the war in Gaza, Palestine, was not achieved, as the war continued despite the boycott efforts. However, the study found that the secondary objective, which was to reduce the income of companies with ties to Israeli companies or entrepreneurs, was successfully accomplished. The decline in revenue of these companies, whose products were boycotted in various Muslim countries, indicated that the economic goal of the boycott was achieved. It is important to note that this research had certain limitations, including the time frame of the study, which was conducted over only three months, from October to December 2023.

Data analysis techniques include statistical tests to test relationships and mediation. The research results show that organizational performance is significantly influenced by organizational culture (β=0.426; ρ=0.002) and organizational leadership (β=0.264; ρ=0.037). However, work commitment does not mediate a significant influence on organizational culture and organizational leadership on organizational performance. Abstract

This article focuses on the problem that the role of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) in the dynamics of democracy in Indonesia is experiencing an imbalance in its relationship with the government and other people's representative institutions such as the People's Representative Council (DPR). The research methods used include literature studies, conceptual analysis, case studies, and document analysis. With a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis, this research aims to understand the role that the DPD should play in the dynamics of Indonesian democracy. The research results show that the practice of democracy in Indonesia has experienced ups and downs from tyranny to anarchy, and vice versa, namely conditions that are not ideal and unbalanced (disequilibrium). To achieve true democracy, efforts are needed to create a new balance between the government and people's representative institutions, by giving power to the DPD in the legislative process, as well as giving the DPD the authority to nominate candidates for President and Vice President.

Abstract

The presidential election in Indonesia in 2024 has raised controversy in the process and implementation of democracy. However, this context has not been comprehensively discussed in previous studies. In addition to answering the shortcomings of previous studies, this research also focuses on the question of how the forms, factors, and implications of democratic controversy on the legitimacy of presidential election results in Indonesia 2024. This research reveals three important findings related to democratic controversy in the 2024 presidential election in Indonesia. First, politicians’ and election organisers’ feeble commitment to complying with the rules of democratic elections. Second, the massive intervention of politicians and election organisers in the electoral process. Third, the controversy of democracy in the 2024 presidential election in Indonesia has long implications for citizens’ attitudes towards the legitimacy of election results. From these three contexts, it can be reflected that the democratic controversy in the 2024 Presidential Election in Indonesia not only caused democratic controversy in the electoral process and implementation, but also formed negative attitudes and perceptions of citizens towards the legitimacy of election results.
