Abstract

Violence in the name of religion often occurs around us. According to several research results, one of the reasons is the lack of knowledge about religious moderation. Moderate behavior in religion needs to be encouraged from an early age, especially in junior high school. Junior high school students are in an ambiguous stage of development, between childhood and adulthood, so they need to internalize good social and humanitarian values. This study aims to explore the process of internalizing the values of religious moderation in junior high schools carried out by Islamic Religious Education teachers. The method used is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data sources from Islamic Religious Education teachers, other religious teachers, Muslim students and students of religions other than Islam. The process carried out by Islamic Religious Education teachers includes three stages: pre-learning, reinforcement learning, and the internalization stage. Each stage is carried out carefully by Islamic Religious Education teachers supported by the entire school community. Through three stages of internalization of the values of religious moderation carried out in this school, the impact was that there was no violence in the name of religion carried out by students, teachers and education staff. The three stages of the process of internalizing the values of religious moderation carried out by Islamic Religious Education teachers are worthy of being adopted and duplicated in other places.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a key component of digital literacy systems. AI is a major innovation in the field of education that has the potential to significantly improve learning, and also educational administration. Based on observations made at STIT Al-Khairiyah Cilegon, Banten, this research intends to explore the morality of using AI in the classroom as perceived by college students enrolled in Islamic education programs. Phenomenological techniques combined with descriptive qualitative research are employed to address predetermined goals. The methods of interviewing, and the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña models for data analysis, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing are all used in data collection. Based on the study findings and also discussions, AI-based technology makes tasks more efficient and helps students comprehend their study materials more fully. College students with strong religious backgrounds exhibit a more critical attitude toward the use of AI, putting forth high ethical considerations to ensure that the use of AI always stays in line with Islamic principles with a combination of structured academic training and religious feeding. The ethich of using AI in learning are focused on three things, namely data privacy-security, plagiarism avoidance, and responsibility. This study offers a theoretical addition and offers insightful information about the role of AI in Islamic education.

Abstract

Ibn al-Haytham is widely recognized as a scientist renowned for his expertise in optics. He was also a philosopher in the field of ethics. This unique combination makes his thought particularly compelling to explore, especially in relation to the objectives of moral education. The aim of this study is to examine the goals of moral education from the perspective of a figure who embodies both scientific and philosophical insight. The research employs a qualitative method by analyzing the texts found in Ibn al-Haytham’s work, which serves as the primary object of study. The interpretation is conducted through an educational-philosophical lens, focusing on his moral thought. According to Ibn al-Haytham, the purpose of moral education is to cultivate individuals who are capable of self-reflection, asceticism, intellectual engagement, generosity, love for others, wise use of wealth, and the abandonment of carnal desires, immoral behavior, anger, and self-serving actions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning model oriented toward strengthening anti-corruption values at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The model is implemented through an integrative approach that systematically embeds the values of honesty, integrity, transparency, accountability, and justice into the curriculum and all stages of the learning process. This research employs a qualitative descriptive design, utilizing in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, classroom observations, and analysis of academic documentation. The findings indicate that students internalize anti-corruption values through observable ethical behaviors, including refusing to engage in academic dishonesty such as cheating, proxy attendance, plagiarism (copy-paste practices), and data falsification, including in applications for the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) scholarship. Classroom observations further reveal a 98% attendance rate accompanied by active student participation in discussions and reflective learning activities. Overall, this learning model effectively contributes to the development of graduates with strong moral character, academic integrity, and ethical commitment, positioning them as agents of social change. The study underscores that integrating anti-corruption values into IRE not only reinforces individual character formation but also plays a strategic role in fostering a clean, transparent, and just culture within both academic institutions and society at large.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors influencing the weak internal awareness of students toward religious values, despite the availability of facilities, structured Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum, and school support at SMAN 1 Pangandaran and SMAN 1 Parigi Pangandaran. The research focuses on the influence of IRE teachers’ role modeling, students’ habituation, the school environment, and worship facilities on the development of students’ religious life. A quantitative causal-comparative approach was employed, involving 567 twelfth-grade students, and data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The findings reveal that students’ habituation has the strongest influence, followed by teachers’ role modeling and the school environment, while worship facilities showed no significant effect. Differences between the two schools were also identified, particularly in intellectual and ritual aspects of religiosity. These results reinforce Attachment Theory, Social Cognitive Theory, and the concepts of habit loop, place identity, and Glock’s religiosity dimensions. Practically, schools are advised to strengthen teachers’ empathetic role modeling, establish consistent positive habituation, and foster a supportive religious environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms and causes of radicalism, elaborate on the concept and practice of internalizing religious moderation values in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, and assess the effectiveness and challenges of this process in building students’ ideological resilience. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a multisite study design at SMAN 1 and SMKN 1 Garut. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive data analysis model. The findings indicate that radicalism among students in Garut develops latently and symbolically through exclusivism, ideological segregation, and exposure to intolerant narratives in digital media and non-formal environments, influenced by psychosocial, historical, economic, and cultural factors. Religious moderation values have been contextually and culturally internalized at SMAN 1 and SMKN 1 Garut through PAI learning, school culture, as well as interfaith and anti-violence programs, making both schools resilient models against radicalism. The internalization process proceeds through three structured stages: transformation, transaction, and transinternalization, with dialogical and reflective approaches that encourage students to internalize and practice values of tolerance and anti-radicalism in their daily lives. The success of this internalization is influenced by participatory learning approaches and supportive environments; however, challenges remain in the form of ideological enclaves and external influences that do not support moderation.

Abstract

The development of digital technology demands innovation in interactive learning media that are in line with the characteristics of the digital native generation. In Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in elementary schools, the use of conventional methods such as lectures and textbooks is still dominant, thus reducing student motivation and engagement. This study aims to develop a Muslim Adventure Educational Game as an innovative and engaging PAI learning medium. The research method uses research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The research subjects involved 30 fifth-grade elementary school students in Majalengka Regency, who were tested through one-to-one, small group, and large-scale trials. Data were collected through needs questionnaires, validation by material experts, media, language, and student responses. The results showed that the game was categorized as very feasible with an average expert validation score of 4.55 and student responses of 4.15. These findings confirm that the integration of Islamic values in educational games can increase student interest and engagement in PAI learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the Islamic education based habituation model in shaping healthy living behavior at MI Unggulan Nuris Jember. The research was conducted from July to September 2025 using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation involving five purposively selected key informants: the principal, Islamic education teacher, dormitory supervisor, and students. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings show that the habituation model is implemented through four main pillars: teacher exemplification, routine activities, religious habituation, and value reinforcement through a reward–punishment system. Its distinctive practices include proper waste disposal, nutritious meals prepared by the boarding kitchen, the poskestren (Islamic health post), ro’an (cleanliness duty), and room cleanliness competitions. The model effectively nurtures students’ healthy living behavior naturally and sustainably through the internalization of Islamic values of iman (faith), amanah (responsibility), and thaharah (cleanliness).
