Abstract

This study is titled "The effectiveness of using cubing strategy in writing descriptive text". The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a significant effect between thinking students using the cubing strategy and non-thinking students using cubing strategy in teaching descriptive writing to students. MTS 8th grade student Raudhatul istiqomah lirboyo suroboyo or not.therefore, this study is quantitative, using experimental methods and quasi-experimental design. The sampling technique was chosen according to the purposive sampling method. There are two groups: the experimental group (VIIIA) with 31 students and the control group (VIIIB) with 31 students. In this study, the author used several codes as data collection tools. Based on the calculation performed by independent testing, the researcher found that the obtained result was larger (3092 > 2000) at the α = 0.05 significance level in the two-tailed test. This means that there was a significant effect between the experimental group and the control group. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It can be concluded that the block building strategy has been effective in teaching descriptive writing

Abstract

This study was conducted in order to investigate the students’ perceptions about good and effective English teacher. Apart from that, it also aims to find out whether there are significant differences between male and female students in categorizing how English teachers can be called good and effective teachers. Descriptive qualitative research will be used to collect data. The subjects of this research were eighth-grade junior high school students at SMP Negeri 4 Petang. A total of 75 students were asked to fill out a self-range questionnaire and 20 students (10 female and 10 male) were appointed for the focus group discussion session. The results revealed female students' perceptions of good teachers who prioritize a fun and interesting learning atmosphere, while male students focused on a teacher who cares about all students. Both female and male students value a teacher who can make learning enjoyable and engaging, using ice-breaking activities and other interactive methods to maintain interest. However, in relation to the male and female students’ perception regarding effective teachers there were some differences in their preferences regarding teaching strategies and how to increasing motivation in learning. Male students think that the motivation provided by words does not affect their interest in learning English. They are more motivated while practicing directly. Meanwhile, for female students quotes really motivate them to learn English, in addition to other learning activities. Both female and male students value teachers who are well-prepared for their lessons and can manage their time effectively to ensure that the material is covered in a timely manner.

Abstract

This article explores the shifting global dynamics, focusing on the rise of East Asia, particularly China, and its impact on the Asia Pacific region. The South China Sea (SCS) emerges as a critical area with territorial disputes, notably China's assertive claims and the U.S.'s involvement, leading to heightened tensions. Indonesia's strategic position becomes pivotal in navigating these geopolitical shifts. The analysis emphasizes Indonesia's role in promoting a peaceful SCS region through its free and active policy and ASEAN membership. The Kantian Triangle, rooted in Liberalism theory, serves as a conceptual framework, highlighting the importance of democracy, economic interdependence, and international organizations in conflict resolution. Indonesia's engagement in regional organizations, especially ASEAN, is crucial for resolving SCS conflicts. The ASEAN Outlook On The Indo-Pacific (AOIP) reflects a commitment to inclusive cooperation, prioritizing shared interests. The article underscores Indonesia's efforts to balance relations with the U.S. and China through economic cooperation, contributing to regional stability. Indonesia's economic ties with both nations, guided by the principles of the Kantian Triangle, aim to foster cooperation and reduce the potential for conflict in the SCS. In conclusion, Indonesia's strategic positioning and active diplomatic role positions it as a key mediator, contributing to lasting peace in the SCS amidst the competition between major powers.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine 1) the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019; 2) the effect of achievement motivation on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019; 3) the effect of social environment on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019; 4) the effect of entrepreneurship education, achievement motivation, and social environment on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019. This research is a quantitative study with a population of the FKIP UNS class of 2019. The sampling technique used Proportionate Random Sampling with a sample size of 322 respondents. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and data analysis using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that 1) there is a positive and significant effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019; 2) there is a positive and significant effect of achievement motivation on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019; 3) there is a positive and significant effect of social environment on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019; 4) there is a positive and significant effect of entrepreneurship education, achievement motivation, and social environment on entrepreneurial intention of FKIP UNS students class of 2019.

Abstract

Although there have been many studies that discuss meaning, both in Indonesian and in Minangkabau, no research has been found that examines the lexical meaning and cultural meaning of Minangnese archaic words in pasambahan. This is important to study because pasambahan contains advice, manners, cultural values, and educational values that have existed for a long time and must be passed down. Therefore, there is a need for research that explores the lexical meaning and meaning of the cultural context contained in archaized words in pasambahan. This research uses a qualitative design. The source of data comes from a study entitled Identification of Archaic Words in the Book of the Philosophy of Penghulu Clothing Jo Pidato Aluo Pasambahan of Minangkabau Custom. The data was tested in an interview with the author of the book. The results show that of the 34 archaic words studied, 26 words have lexical meaning and cultural meaning, and 8 words only have lexical meaning. The cultural meaning contains advice to tribal leaders, advice for daily life, a description of Minangkabau nature, a description of Minangkabau traditional houses, and manners, advice on religion, and advice on decision-making.

Abstract

The research carried out was motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of students at SMP Negeri 15 Medan. Based on preliminary data, only 26% of students meet the criteria for sufficient mathematical communication skills. This research aims to find out whether the application of realistic mathematics education assisted by Autograph can improve mathematical communication skills in class VIII junior high school students. The subjects in this research were all students in class VIII-1 of SMP Negeri 15 Medan for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 31 students. Meanwhile, the object taken in this research is improving the mathematical communication skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 15 Medan for the 2023/2024 academic year after implementing a realistic mathematics education approach. Data collection was carried out using initial tests, observations, and tests of mathematical communication skills. The resulting data was analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data exposure, and data conclusion. In this research, researchers also observed the teacher's ability to manage learning and student activities during learning using the PMR approach. The two observation results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. so that it shows that the results of the observations can be categorized into student more active and good groups. Meanwhile, students gave positive responses to implementing this Realistic Mathematics Education Approach. Students' mathematical communication abilities after implementing the realistic mathematics learning approach experienced an increase in the class.

Abstract

Konfrontasi strategis antara Amerika Serikat dan China di Laut China Selatan membawa tantangan signifikan terhadap keamanan nasional negara-negara di kawasan, termasuk Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengembangkan strategi komprehensif bagi Indonesia dalam menghadapi ancaman yang muncul dari rivalitas kedua negara adidaya ini. Menggunakan metode Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), studi ini secara sistematis menilai dan meranking berbagai respons strategis menurut kriteria yang telah ditentukan, yakni dengan skenario terjadinya eskalasi konflik militer, eskalasi konflik ekonomi dan eskalasi polarisasi politik global, yang selanjutnya diperinci kembali dalam aspek-aspek sub kriteria. Data dikumpulkan melalui sumber-sumber primer dan sekunder yang meliputi laporan pemerintah, analisis keamanan, dan publikasi akademis, yang kemudian diolah untuk menghasilkan matriks perbandingan berpasangan dalam AHP. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa Indonesia harus sungguh-sungguh mempersiapkan diri dalam menghadapi potensi eskalasi konflik AS dan China di kawasan Laut China Selatan melalui penentuan 3 (tiga) prioritas strategi Nasional yaitu penguatan kapasitas pertahanan negara (militer), penguatan diplomasi dan sentralitas ASEAN, serta penguatan kemandirian ekonomi Nasional. Melalui penerapan metode AHP, diperoleh hasil dimana prioritas strategi nasional Indonesia dalam menghadapi ancaman rivalitas AS dan China di Laut China Selatan yang terbaik adalah melalui strategi penguatan kemandirian ekonomi. Artikel ini menawarkan panduan kebijakan yang berbasis bukti dan memberikan wawasan strategis yang dapat digunakan oleh pembuat kebijakan dan akademisi dalam menghadapi ketidakpastian geopolitik yang dinamis, khususnya yang berpengaruh terhadap negara-negara di kawasan Laut China Selatan. Implikasi dari studi ini yakni memperkaya literatur mengenai aplikasi AHP dalam konteks keamanan nasional dan strategi pertahanan, serta menawarkan kerangka kerja untuk mengevaluasi opsi kebijakan dalam konteks yang serba cepat dan kompleks dari rivalitas besar kekuatan global.

Abstract

Dalam sistem pengembangan daerah Provinsi Jawa Tengah, Pemerintah provinsi menetapkan Kota Pekalongan sebagai salah satu wilayah strategis untuk pertumbuhan ekonomi. Meskipun memiliki potensi yang signifikan, Kota Pekalongan masih perlu mencari solusi untuk mengurangi banjir yang merupakan masalah berulang. Banjir di Kota Pekalongan disebabkan oleh gelombang pasang (rob) dan luapan banjir yang terjadi di sungai-sungai yang melintasi kota. Menurut Bappeda Kota Pekalongan, pada tahun 2020 terjadi genangan banjir seluas 1.177,86 hektar. Untuk mengatasi masalah banjir, pemerintah telah membuat beberapa infrastruktur pengendalian banjir di Kota Pekalongan, diantaranya regulator gate dan tanggul parapet. Pembangunan regulator gate ini bertujuan untuk mengatur aliran yang masuk ke sistem Sungai Loji, sehingga kedepannya seluruh aliran ke Sungai Banger sepenuhnya. Studi ini mensimulasikan banjir di wilayah Kota Pekalongan untuk menilai dampak pembangunan regulator gate dan tanggul sungai khususnya di sekitar Sungai Banger menggunakan HEC-RAS 6.4 dengan dibagi menjadi 4 skenario. Simulasi dilakukan dengan debit banjir periode ulang 25 tahun dan 50 tahun. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan area terkena banjir sebelum pembangunan regulator gate adalah 710,06 hektar, dan setelah pembangunan regulator gate, area banjir berkurang menjadi 363,02 hektar. Banjir yang tersisa terjadi di muara Sungai Banger, tetapi setelah normalisasi penambahan tanggul parapet dilakukan, banjir di Kota Pekalongan dapat diselesaikan.

Abstract

Busana kreasi dibuat sebagai hasil daya cipta, khayalan atau angan-angan, gagasan, ide, atau inspirasi seseorang serta dibuat dari bahan-bahan yang tidak lazim untuk dipergunakan dalam pembuatan busana. Penelitian ini membahas tentang mengadaptasi salah satu tokoh film fantasi sebagai sumber ide untuk di realisasikan sebagai busana kreasi, salah satunya film Raya And The Last Dragon dengan tokoh Jagan. Jagan digambarkan sebagai naga air dengan bulu berwarna ungu dari lima bersaudara. Jagan memiliki sihir dalam menciptakan kabut tebal sehingga mustahil untuk dilihat. Pengambilan tema didasarkan adanya pemikiran untuk mengadaptasi tokoh pada film fantasi. Didapatkan hasil adaptasi dengan penggunaan bahan sequin seribu payet, bahan long fur korea, model mermaid skirt, tile mutiara dan furing ungu, serta dakron. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE. Hasil pengadaptasian tokoh pada sebuah film fantasi menjadi busana kreasi diharapkan dapat menciptakan visual baru yang khas dan berbeda.

Abstract

In the current era, the learning process needs to be carried out in an integrative manner, especially as technology has developed to such an extent. The learning process is not only carried out technologically, but also contains intellectual, moral and skill elements. This article aims to discuss how the PAI learning process is carried out in an integrated and holistic manner. This study uses descriptive qualitative research in the form of library research. Excavating library data focused on several concepts regarding interdisciplinary approaches, PAI learning, and similar relevant concepts. Data analysis uses a content analysis model. This study found that interdisciplinary PAI learning is part of integrated learning. Interdisciplinary learning will essentially provide students with a holistic learning experience, because there is general subject matter content included in the learning. PAI material can be integrated with several subjects, such as science, social studies, civics and information technology. Integrated learning is realized in integrative thematic learning which combines competencies from several subjects as representatives of scientific disciplines into a network of certain themes. Its relevance is increasingly evident because the newest curriculum, the independent curriculum, does not eliminate it but instead enriches it with an open attitude to other relevant approaches.
