Abstract

ABSTRAKBerdasarkan indeks rawan bencana yang dikeluarkan oleh BNPD bahwa Kabupaten Maros termasuk dalam kelas rawan tinggi terhadap bencana alam. Secara statistik, kondisi wilayah di Sulawesi Selatan merupakan daerah yang rawan bencana longsor. Penelitian ini betujuan untuk menaksir tingkat kerawanan longsor di Kecamatan Camba. Pengolahan data dilakukan menggunakan software ArcMap dengan teknik skoring dan pembobotan. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan cara membuat overlay untuk mendapatkan nilai pembobotan yang selanjutnya dilakukan proses reclassify untuk mendapatkan tingkat kerawanan longsor. Hasil penelitian yaitu diperoleh area dengan 4 tingkat kerawanan terhadap longsor. Pada kerawanan rendah memiliki luasan 200,4 ha. Pada tingkat kerawanan sedang memiliki luasan 1702,8. Pada tingkat kerawanan tinggi memiliki luasan 6278,4 ha. Pada tingkat kerawanan sangat tinggi memiliki luasan 3838 ha. Kata kunci: Longsor, Pemetaan spasial, Teknik Skoring, CambaABSTRACTBased on the disaster-prone index issued by the BNPD, Maros Regency is included in the high-prone class for natural disasters. Statistically, the condition of the region in South Sulawesi is an area prone to landslides. This research aims to estimate the level of landslide vulnerability in Camba District. Data processing was carried out using ArcMap software with scoring and weighting techniques. The data is then analyzed by creating an overlay to obtain weighting values which are then carried out by a reclassification process to obtain the level of landslide susceptibility. The results of the research were areas with 4 levels of vulnerability to landslides. At low vulnerability it has an area of 200.4 ha. At the medium level of vulnerability it has an area of 1702.8. At the high level of vulnerability it has an area of 6278.4 ha. At a very high level of vulnerability it has an area of 3838 ha.Keywords: Landslide, Spasial Mapping, Skoring Technique, Camba

Abstract

Strengthening social bonding within forest farmer group institutions is essential for the sustainability of community-based forest management. This study aims to formulate strategies for strengthening social bonding by identifying its driving and restraining factors. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and expert assessments. The analysis integrated Force Field Analysis (FFA) to map drivers and barriers, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), based one expert Assessments, to prioritize these factors. The results show that leadership legitimacy, a culture of mutual cooperation, conservation awareness, active participation, and strong social networks are the main driving factors. Prominent constraints include leadership centralization, unequal member contributions, undocumented norms, technical capacity gaps, and limited external networks. Strengthening strategies include leadership distribution, reinforcement of collective activities, documentation of norms and values, enhancement of technical capacity, and expansion of external networks. These findings provide an evidence-based framework for strengthening social capital and supporting the institutional sustainability of forest farmer groups.

Abstract

Selecting appropriate plant species based on land suitability evaluation is essential for developing sustainable agroforestry systems in Social Forestry regions. This study assessed land suitability in the Social Forestry area of Barru Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia (04°06?–04°47? S; 119°32?–119°49? E). Data were obtained from six sampling points through field observations, soil analysis, and farmer interviews. Parameters analyzed included soil pH, organic carbon, texture, erosion hazard, and water availability. Land suitability classification was based on the FAO framework and supported by GIS mapping. Limiting factors such as nutrient retention (nr), rooting media (rc), and erosion hazard (fh) were evaluated to determine current and potential suitability classes. Results indicated considerable variability across sites. Soil pH was acidic (4.18–6.26), organic carbon ranged from 1.71% to 2.30%, and soils were mainly loam to sandy clay loam. The landscape was characterized by steep slopes (25–45%) and elevations of 150–450 m above sea level. Most areas were classified as marginally suitable (S3), though improvements such as liming, organic matter addition, and erosion control could enhance suitability to moderately suitable (S2). Proposed agroforestry designs combine primary crops coffee, candlenut, aren palm, mahogany, and durian with complementary species including cacao, rambutan, and sengon. These combinations are expected to balance production, conservation, and shade functions according to site conditions. This study emphasizes the role of land evaluation in optimizing agroforestry planning within social forestry landscapes. Findings provide practical recommendations for integrating ecological sustainability with community-based resource management.

Abstract

Avifauna is a type of wildlife that can be easily found in various locations and serves as an indicator of environmental quality. Avifauna plays roles such as seed dispersal, assisting pollination, preying on other animals, and so on. It holds significant importance in wetland ecosystems. One of the most crucial ecological functions of avifauna is as a bioindicator of wetland quality, closely related to its position in the food chain. This study aims to determine the number and types of avifauna, understand the abundance of avifauna species in the waters of Limboto Lake, and identify their conservation status. The research was conducted from January to March 2025. Observations were made using the Point Count method with three (3) randomly placed points. The results identified 13 bird species belonging to 6 orders and 7 families. The percentage of species per family was highest for Passeridae at 20%, while the percentage of individual birds per family was dominated by the Ardeidae family at 47.83%. The distribution of individual birds per order was highest for the order Passeriformes with 282 individuals, and lowest for the order Charadriiformes with 11 individuals. The highest avifauna abundance was the Eurasian tree sparrow (Passer montanus) at 20.52%, indicating high criteria, while the lowest relative abundance was the Greater crested tern (Thalasseus bergii) at 1.59% and the Purple heron (Ardea purpurea) at 1.30%. The diversity index (H') was 2.14%, indicating moderate abundance criteria; evenness (E) was 0.33%, indicating a stable species distribution index; and richness (Dmg) was 1.84%, classified as a low index.

Abstract

Imperata cylindrica is an aggressive and difficult-to-control weed in production forest areas. The use of plant-based bioherbicides offers an environmentally friendly alternative to reduce reliance on synthetic herbicides. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of extracts from Filicium decipiens and Swietenia macrophylla in suppressing the growth of weeds. The study was conducted using a Competly Randomized Design with five treatments: control, 25% and 50% F. decipiens extract, and 25% and 50% mahogany extract, and replicated 5 times. The parameters observed included changes in leaf color, survival rate, root length and diameter. The results showed that the 50% F. decipiens extract was most effective in reducing root diameter and plant survival rate (only 20% survived), while the 50% mahogany extract most effectively inhibited root length. The browning of leaves indicated tissue damage caused by phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and saponins. This study demonstrated that F. decipiens leaf and mahogany extracts have potential as effective and environmentally friendly bioherbicides for controlling sedge weeds.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dan menganalisis hambatan dalam pelestarian ekosistem mangrove berbasis perikanan berkelanjutan di Desa Bangga, Kecamatan Paguyaman Pantai, Kabupaten Boalemo. Ekosistem mangrove di wilayah ini memiliki peran penting sebagai habitat ikan, pelindung pesisir, serta sumber daya ekonomi lokal. Namun, aktivitas manusia seperti penebangan liar dan peternakan tak terkendali menyebabkan degradasi lingkungan yang signifikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan penyebaran kuesioner kepada 33 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun pengetahuan masyarakat tentang mangrove tergolong tinggi (skor rata-rata 2,98), tingkat partisipasi masih tergolong sedang (skor rata-rata 2,17), dengan partisipasi yang lebih tinggi dalam penyebaran informasi dan kesadaran lingkungan, namun rendah dalam keterlibatan diskusi dan kontribusi finansial. Hambatan utama antara lain infrastruktur pendukung yang tidak memadai, keterbatasan ekonomi, dan kurangnya program penyuluhan yang intensif. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan kolaborasi antara pemerintah, masyarakat, dan sektor swasta melalui program pendidikan, rehabilitasi mangrove, serta insentif berbasis ekonomi seperti ekowisata berkelanjutan. Keterlibatan aktif masyarakat dalam semua tahap pengelolaan mangrove sangat penting untuk menjaga keseimbangan ekologi dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan pesisir.Kata Kunci: partisipasi masyarakat, mangrove, pelestarian lingkungan, perikanan berkelanjutan, Desa Bangga.

Abstract

This study analyzes the socio-ecological dynamics of land management in Sari Tani Village, located within the buffer zone of the Nantu Boliohuto Wildlife Sanctuary (SM). Previous studies have focused more on the biophysical aspects of land degradation and the impacts of agricultural activities on conservation areas, but have been limited in integrating the analysis of inter-factor relationships, land management strategies by different social groups, and the role of local institutions within a comprehensive socio-ecological framework. The study was conducted over two months using a qualitative approach through field observations and in-depth interviews with 40 farmers (20 local and 20 transmigrants), village officials, middlemen, community leaders, agricultural extension workers, and forestry agencies. Data were analyzed using a Social-Ecological System (SES) framework to capture the interrelationships between resource systems, resource units, actors, and governance. The results indicate that the degradation of resource systems and resource units is influenced by differences in management strategies between local and transmigrant farmers. Local farmers tend to open new land due to monoculture practices that reduce soil fertility, while transmigrant farmers adopt a relatively more adaptive and conservative intercropping pattern. Weak governance, minimal institutional coordination, and the dominant role of middlemen contribute to reinforcing incentives for land expansion. Interactions between actors demonstrate that land-use decisions are driven more by short-term economic motives than by ecological sustainability considerations. This research emphasizes the importance of strengthening collaborative governance, implementing conservation agriculture practices, and integrating local knowledge into buffer zone management. These findings are expected to fill the research gap related to socio-ecological analysis in conservation areas and serve as a reference for policy formulation and the development of sustainable landscape management models in protected area buffer zones.

Abstract

Cocofiber is a product of coconut fiber decomposition, the combination of cocofiber and soil can optimize plant growth and improve soil drainage and increase soil water retention capacity. The purpose of this study was to determine the Effect of Soil and Cocofiber Media Composition on the Growth of White Teak Seedlings (Gmelina Atborea Roxb). This research was conducted in Bonra Village, Mapilli District, Polewali Mandar Regency from August to December 2024. The data collection technique used quantitative data using a Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of 5 treatments, 6 replications, 6 groups of observation time. The treatments used were P0 (100% cocofiber), P1 (100% soil), P2 (1 soil: 1 cocofiber), P3 (2 soils: 1 cocofiber), P4 (2 cocofibers: 1 soil). The parameters observed were the increase in the height of white teak seedlings, the increase in the diameter of white teak seedlings, and the increase in the number of leaves of white teak seedlings. Analysis was conducted by comparing the calculated F to the F table. If the calculated F was greater than the F table at the 5% level, Duncan's further test was performed. The results of this study indicate that the best treatment for increasing white teak seedling height was P3: 2 soil: 1 cocofiber; the best dose for increasing white teak seedling diameter was P1: 100% soil; and the best dose for increasing leaf number was P2: 1 soil: 1 cocofiber.

Abstract

Human anthropogenic activities, such as land conversion for ponds and agriculture, as well as the development of environmentally unfriendly infrastructure, have contributed to increased environmental degradation. Furthermore, it is driving global temperature increase and climate change, including pressure on the sustainability of mangrove areas such as those in Brebes Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate mangrove management in the Brebes Regency. The study applies qualitative and quantitative descriptive approaches (mixed methods) with the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method and a survey method to examine the mangrove management that has been implemented. Management aspects include abiotic, biotic, and cultural aspects. The result of the study showed that the coastal ecosystem in the western region of Brebes Regency is dominated by mangrove ecosystems, where most of the mangrove areas have been converted into ponds. The study recommends providing assistance to communities regarding a green economy that supports mangrove sustainability, mitigating the damage of mangrove areas, conserving mangrove areas, and continuously implementing integrated management to ensure sustainability in the future.

Abstract

Oil palm stem waste is an environmental problem that holds great potential as an alternative substrate for mushroom cultivation due to its high lignocellulose content. Its utilization can replace the increasingly scarce sawdust while supporting the concept of a green economy. This study aimed to formulate a cultivation medium for Ganoderma lucidum based on oil palm stem waste through fermentation optimization using EM4 and molasses, to produce an eco-friendly medium that supports mushroom growth and functional food development. The research methods included substrate characterization (C/N ratio, lignin, phenol, moisture), fermentation optimization using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with variations of EM4 dosage (1–5%), molasses concentration (5–15%), and fermentation duration (7–21 days). The optimized fermented substrate was then formulated into Baqlog medium (75% fermented substrate, 20% rice bran, 3% agricultural lime). Growth performance of G. lucidum was tested on Baqlog medium, followed by phytochemical analysis. The results showed that the optimal fermentation condition was at 3% EM4, 10% molasses, and 14 days, reducing lignin from 28.5% to 14.8%, phenol from 1.6% to 0.45%, and improving the C/N ratio from 44.2 to 28.5. Mycelial colonization was faster (18 days) compared to the control (34 days), with higher biomass (7.2 g/baglog, increased by 36%). Phenolic content also increased from 0.7 mg/g to 2.5 mg/g. In conclusion, fermentation of oil palm stem waste produced an effective medium that accelerated colonization, increased biomass, and enriched the bioactive content of G. lucidum.
