Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still a significant public health issue in Indonesia, with a high incidence rate. Overcrowded environments, such as Islamic boarding schools, pose a higher risk for the spread of DHF. In addition to environmental factors, anemia in adolescents also increases susceptibility to infection. Therefore, education on DHF prevention and hemoglobin (Hb) screening is essential as promotive and preventive measures. This activity aimed to raise students' awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental hygiene and to identify hemoglobin status as part of early detection of vulnerability to DHF infection. The program was conducted at Darul Falah Al-Hasyimiyah Islamic Boarding School, Semarang, involving 50 adolescent students. Interventions included interactive counseling on DHF prevention, knowledge evaluation through pre-test and post-test, and Hb measurement using a digital Hb meter. Results showed a significant improvement in students' knowledge, with mean pre-test and post-test scores of 46 and 92, respectively (p<0.05). Hb screening revealed that 64% of participants had Hb levels below normal (mean 10.8±1.2 g/dL), indicating a high prevalence of anemia among students. These findings highlight the need for nutritional interventions, balanced diet education, and regular health monitoring. In conclusion, this activity effectively enhanced students' awareness of DHF prevention while simultaneously identifying anemia status. This model can be duplicated in similar areas as a promotional and preventive strategy against environmentally based infectious diseases. Abstract

Primary education is the foundation for developing critical, analytical, and logical thinking skills, making early strengthening of data literacy essential to help students understand, manage, and present information meaningfully. This article examines the implementation of Sigma Class as a program to introduce data literacy through interactive learning for grade five and grade six students in Kelurahan Palam, aiming to build a basic understanding of primary and secondary data and the presentation of data in tables, bar charts, and pie charts. The program was designed as activity-based learning that combines material exposition with a data-generating game and a voting activity, supported by tutor facilitation and an individual ten-item assessment at the end of each session. The activity involved 131 students from four schools, with each meeting lasting approximately 90 minutes. Results show an overall average score of 84.89, with the highest average of 90.87 in one class and the lowest average of 76.25 in another class within the same school, and all class averages exceeding each school's minimum mastery criteria. The findings affirm the effectiveness of activity-based and game-supported approaches for introducing data literacy, while also indicating the need to strengthen prerequisite arithmetic and to differentiate instructional strategies so that outcomes become more even across classes.

Abstract

Stunting remains a public health problem in Indonesia, with long-term impacts on the quality of human resources. Efforts to prevent stunting require targeted nutritional interventions and the active role of health workers. Integrated service post (Posyandu) cadres play a strategic role as the frontline in detecting, preventing, and addressing stunting. One strategy they can implement is to provide supplementary food made from local ingredients and animal protein. The purpose of this community service is to enhance the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres in implementing SDIDTK, completing KMS, and processing animal protein-based PMT as a step toward preventing stunting and boosting the creative economy. The methods used in this community service activity include outreach, training, technology implementation, mentoring, and evaluation of program success. The program targets 25 integrated health posts (Posyandu) cadres and will be implemented in Langir Village in September 2025. The results of statistical tests show that the knowledge and skills of cadres regarding SDIDTK, filling out KMS, PMT LokProhe, and marketing strategies increased significantly from the sufficient category (56%) to the good and skilled category (84%) after socialization and training. Therefore, the outreach and training provided effectively improved the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres. It is hoped that the cadres will effectively implement child growth and development simulations and utilize local foods, thereby improving their economic well-being.

Abstract

Animal health plays a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance and preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases. In Bukittinggi, uncontrolled cat populations and the potential spread of rabies pose significant public health concerns. This community service program aimed to improve animal health and raise public awareness through education on animal care, rabies vaccination, and male cat castration. The activity was attended by 55 community participants who owned pets. A holistic approach was employed, combining medical services—vaccination and castration—with direct community education. The program successfully vaccinated 80 cats and castrated 15 male cats, while significantly increasing community knowledge, as evidenced by pre- and post-test scores (from 6.00 to 9.55). The satisfaction rate among participants reached 96%. These results demonstrated the program's effectiveness in improving animal health, reducing the risk of zoonotic diseases, and raising public awareness about responsible pet care. This model intervention could serve as an example for zoonotic disease control and enhancing animal welfare within communities.

Abstract

This Community Engagement Program aims to address three main problems faced by the Diponegoro Youth Organization (Karang Taruna): a lack of digital literacy and data security, low awareness of mental health, and the suboptimal use of technology for productivity. To tackle these issues, the implementing team applied a participatory approach through a detailed series of activities, covering: Initiation and Collaboration, Training Program Preparation, Training Implementation (in the form of workshops), Intensive Mentoring, and Monitoring and Evaluation The themes for the intensive workshops and mentoring consisted of three main issues: Mental Resilience in the Digital Era, Affiliate Digital Marketing, and Personal Data Security. This program has produced several key outputs, both tangible and social. Three guidebooks (Emotional Intelligence in the FOMO Era; Affiliate Marketing: Turn Social Media into a Money Machine; and Early Detection, Self-Protection), instructional videos, and an X-Banner for the "Digital Smart, Mental Health" campaign were created and delivered to the Diponegoro Youth Organization. The program was featured in national mass media, and its activity videos were uploaded to the official @TSUOFFICIAL YouTube channel. Several training participants have begun practicing digital marketing and have successfully earned income as affiliates, though the amounts remain modest. This demonstrates a positive start in utilizing technology for economic purposes. As part of the program's sustainability, the "Gatak Village Digital Youth Group" was formed as a forum for members to share knowledge and support one another. This established Digital Youth Group ensures that the positive impact continues to expand within the community.

Abstract

Menopause is a natural cycle that every woman experiences. The reduction in estrogen during menopause causes both physical and psychological changes. These changes require a challenging adaptation, so proper preparation is essential for women to navigate their menopause optimally. This activity aims to improve the quality of life of menopausal women by increasing knowledge, promoting physical activity, and providing outreach and monitoring of their health and complaints at the Padjadjaran University Clinic. Eleven women aged 43–67 participated in the activity. Blood pressure checks revealed that eight women had pre-hypertension and hypertension. The group exercise session lasted approximately 30 minutes, and all participants performed well. Educational materials included a booklet covering menopause, including its definition, stages, physiological and psychological changes, risk factors for early menopause, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle to reduce menopausal symptoms, support from husbands and families, and when to consult a doctor if experiencing abnormal symptoms. Health workers should not only focus on improving the health of women of reproductive age, but also on the transitional period that occurs in menopausal women, which also requires better attention and management, so that women can experience menopause optimally.

Abstract

One indirect cause of stunting is families' low purchasing power, which prevents them from providing sufficient food in sufficient quantity and quality. The provision of quality and affordable food is expected. The purpose of this community service activity is to train cadres and the mothers of stunting toddlers to make healthy food or snacks they can consume themselves and sell. This training begins with making healthy snacks, namely nuggets, for cadres at the North Gandaria Village Health Center. The method used was a lecture and demonstration of making healthy snacks, followed by providing materials to make at home and bringing them to the Puskesmas for assessment. The winning RW was asked to train mothers of stunted toddlers in their area. After that, skilled mothers of stunted toddlers were asked to join the cadre mothers to make their products, which were marketed once a week during every posyandu activity in all RWs in the North Gandaria Village Puskesmas area. During training and competitions for cadres and mothers of stunted toddlers, it became apparent that all mothers were happy and creative, coming up with various healthy snack variants made with protein and fruit. This activity provides benefits, namely the emergence of new entrepreneurs, the production of nuggets and healthy drinks for cadre mothers, in collaboration with mothers of toddlers, which indirectly increases cash for the smooth implementation of posyandu in their area.

Abstract

Good performance and productivity of public infrastructure and facilities (PPSU) officers will have a positive impact on public services. Work productivity is influenced by physical fitness, nutritional status, work capacity, and additional burdens imposed by the work environment. Each individual's work productivity may differ depending on their nutritional status. Poor dietary status generally affects health, activities, and work productivity. Nutritional status is also related to anthropometric conditions, which dietary habits may influence. The dietary intake of PPSU officers is sometimes not considered in terms of food portions. A dietary intake of too much carbohydrate may increase blood glucose levels, thereby potentially causing diabetes. Dietary intakes of high-fat and carbohydrate content may also cause obesity. Diabetes and obesity can affect work performance, reducing productivity. This can be a problem for the productivity of PPSU officers. The purpose of implementing Community Service (PKM) is to provide education on the concepts of blood glucose levels and obesity, and on prevention through blood glucose level and obesity control. This knowledge needs to be imparted to PPSU officers. such that they may pay more attention to food intake and control blood glucose levels and BMI, thereby preventing diabetes and obesity and increasing work productivity. The implementation of PKM was carried out through counseling and Q&A involving 52 PPSU officers in Kapuk subdistrict, West Jakarta. The counseling results showed an increase in knowledge of obesity and diabetes among PPSU officers. Continuous counseling is needed for PPSU officers to prevent obesity and DM and increase work productivity.
