Abstract

This study endeavors to present a comprehensive overview of how the implementation of Good Governance impacts the collection of zakat, infaq, and alms for local communities. Qualitative descriptive research methodology was employed, drawing insights from various regulatory frameworks and empirical evidence. The findings reveal several key points: Firstly, the presence of accommodating regulations serves as a legal framework for local institutions, coupled with tangible financial incentives that motivate effective collection of ZIS (zakat, infaq, sadaqah). Secondly, the upsurge in zakat, infaq, and alms collection is not solely reliant on spiritual enlightenment but is significantly influenced by regulatory frameworks that stimulate the optimization of local institutions. Lastly, to ensure the efficacy of the collection process, the government undertakes collaborative evaluations involving stakeholders such as the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), academicians, Mahad Jamiah, and the Zakat Empowerment Team. These findings underscore the importance of formulating progressive policies geared towards enhancing the collection of zakat, infaq, and alms, providing valuable insights for policymakers

Abstract

This article explores the concept of Nahdatul Ulama in promoting global harmony through the R 20 activities. The research employs a qualitative method with data sourced from library research. The article concludes that R 20 has taken concrete steps, facilitated by Nahdatul Ulama, to foster global harmony. These efforts culminated in a collective agreement termed the Communique focusing on four key aspects elucidating religion as a conflict resolution: firstly, tolerance (Tasamuh), in the dynamics of social diversity, emphasizing the development of tolerant attitudes among religious communities as an expression of the ability to bear the burden of differing perspectives. Secondly, ecotheology, a theological concept exploring the interconnectedness of religion and nature, encourages integrating spiritual dimensions with environmental responsibilities. Thirdly, Interfaith Dialogue underscores the necessity for in-depth dialogues to achieve peace among nations and religions. With openness, communication, and compassion, conflicts are viewed as opportunities to enhance understanding, fostering harmonious relationships among religious practitioners. Lastly, the article highlights the active roles of government and religious leaders in addressing extremism and intolerance, contributing to the realization of harmony. The concept used by NU as a basis for compiling the 'Communique' is special because it specifies universal religious values and strengthens the national program, namely Religious Moderation. This is based on NU's commitment as a religious organization that maintains traditionalist theological values as well as being a guardian of national policy.

The study used a qualitative critical discourse analysis approach and was conducted in Bandar Senapelan, the main production area of Songket Riau. Primary and secondary data were collected, and data analysis was conducted using in-depth interviews and content analysis. The results show that the production of Songket Riau can be done in harmony with the environment by implementing practices such as using natural dyes, reducing waste, and respecting the environment. This study concludes by recommending that the government and stakeholders should promote the use of local wisdom in preserving the environment in the production of Songket Riau. This will ensure the sustainability of the cultural heritage and the environment.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the value of local wisdom "malaqbi" in shaping the characteristics and uncovering the factors underlying the existence of the Mandar ethnic group. The study employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach (phenomenology, sociocultural, and critical literacy). The research locations are in Napo Village, Limboro District, Polewali Mandar Regency, and Adolang Village, Pamboang District, Majene Regency. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, FGD (Focus Group Discussion), and documentary studies. The findings indicate the value of local wisdom "malaqbi" in shaping the character of the Mandar Ethnicity, namely: (1) The malaqbi value is used as the basic concept of self-awareness in interpreting the philosophy of Mandar Ethnic life; (2) The malaqbi value is used as the foundation of discourse;    (3) The local wisdom value of malaqbi is used as the foundation of attitude; and (4) The malaqbi value is used as the foundation of social behavior. The factors underlying the existence of the local wisdom value of malaqbi in the Mandar Ethnicity are: (1) Awareness of mutual respect and respect for fellow human beings; (2) Awareness of clarifying identity as Mandar people; (3) Awareness of historical events; and (4) Awareness of "siri'" as the consequence of behavior that is not in accordance with malaqbi. The implication of this research is that the value of malaqbi, which is very wise and full of teachings about life, especially social life, should always be applied by the Mandar Ethnic community in all fields. The malaqbi value has existed before Islamic teachings spread to the Mandar region. Understanding of the malaqbi value even applies to several designations for the Mandar Ethnic community, such as "to I Mandar" (original Mandar people), "to Mandar" (people who come and reside in Mandar), and "pammandar" (people who come to Mandar for specific purposes but do not reside there or only temporarily).

The study also explores how the community of Kasih Sayang Village cultivates a sense of citizenship through voluntarism that contributes to social harmony and well-being. The research utilized a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis employed interpretative phenomenological analysis with the assistance of the ATLAS.ti software for ease and innovation in research data analysis. Research findings reveal that Baitul Maal in Kasih Sayang Village serves as an economic center and an economicdesign reflecting unity, collaboration, development, and empowerment. The role of Baitul Maal extends beyond economic aspects. It integrates Pancasila values, citizenship spirit, and sustainability to propel the community toward holistic development and empowerment. The community of Kasih Sayang Village is grounded in three voluntarism concepts: teodical (reliance on God), ethical (contributing based on goodwill), and psychological (internal drive). Integrating these concepts creates a harmonious environment in the village, where spiritual, moral, and psychological values unite to achieve shared prosperity.

Abstract

This research aims to delves into the survival strategies of Islam Garassik adherents within the diverse context of Tana Toraja society in South Sulawesi. Islam Garassik is not only a subculture in Torajan culture, but also a double minority group. They are not only a minority within the mainstream of Torajan culture but also within the Islamic community itself. This qualitative research employs an interpretative phenomenological approach within Tana Toraja Regency, specifically in Gandangbatu Sillanan Sub-district. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research results show that Islam Garassik is an emerging form of Muslim religiosity in Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi, particularly in Lembang Garassik and Gandangbatu Sillanan sub-districts. This phenomenon combines Islamic teachings with local values, showing Islamic syncretism that is friendly to local traditions. Garassik Islam was born out of interactions with Bugis merchants in Mebali, a traditional market, and was influenced by the long and intense history of struggle between religious and cultural institutions in South Sulawesi. As a multiple minority group, Garassik Islam adherents face social exclusion that pushes them to defend their existential identity and values, including religious understanding and ritual practices. In their defense strategy, they negotiate their identity by integrating religious values and traditions, using Sufistic narratives, and interacting with other Muslim groups. This strategy allows them to maintain their religious identity and cultural diversity, establish harmonious relations with the surrounding community, and provide space for the growth of Islam in the rich cultural context of Tana Toraja.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the form of implementation of melipo in the Mandar community and the perspective of Islamic education regarding the implementation of melipo in the Mandar community. This type of research is qualitative, with surveys, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection methods. The results of this study show that the implementation of melipo in the Mandar community is carried out at certain times, starting from the second day after the burial of the body until three or seven days later. Apart from that, melipo is carried out by several people, such as the priest (who will pray), family, and neighbors or friends, while carrying certain objects required for the melipo activity. The perspective of Islamic education regarding the implementation of melipo in Mandar society is in line with the Al-Qur'an, hadith, and the views of Muslim scholars or scholars. It can be seen from the educational values contained in the melipo tradition, such as that the world is not an eternal place; no one can escape death; graves are humans’ last place; Zuhud is the authenticity of life in the world; bringing up feelings of humanity, creating a sense of empathy, eroding arrogance, avoiding greed or covetousness; unity is very important; helping is urgently needed; brotherhood between people needs to be maintained; praying for those who preceded you; and reflection on attitudes and behavior.

Abstract

In an increasingly integrated and connected era of globalization, cultural identity becomes important in maintaining the diversity and uniqueness of each human group. This research changes the traditional cultural identity of "Nyadran" in the context of the globalization era, using a contemporary anthropological perspective. "Nyadran" is a Javanese cultural tradition that is historically closely linked to local values and local community beliefs. However, along with the development of the era of globalization, this tradition has undergone a significant transformation in an effort to adapt to ever-changing global flows. Using contemporary anthropological research methods, this research involves active participation in the "Nyadran" event as well as interviews with practitioners and participants of this tradition. Data analysis reveals how local elements in "Nyadran" interact with global influences, such as technology, mass media, and changes in social values. In addition, this research explores how globalization can influence the concept of local cultural identity and how local communities react to these changes. The results of this research provide in-depth insight into the dynamics of changing cultural identity in the era of globalization, highlighting the complexity of the relationship between traditional and modern elements in the context of "Nyadran".
