Abstract

Abstract This study investigates the prevention efforts against sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia, focusing on implemented strategies. Conducted using a quantitative survey with a descriptive design, data were gathered via questionnaires distributed across various pesantren. Results reveal that prevention is facilitated by studying specific texts on sex education like 'Uqūdu al-Lujain, Qurratul' Uyūn, and Fathul Izār. Additional measures include monitoring student communications via mobile phones, imparting advice (mau'idzoh) from religious teachers (Kiai), and enforcing strict rules on interactions between genders. The study identifies power imbalances as contributing factors, where higher-ranking individuals exploit authority to exert control. Implications suggest that sexual violence erodes public trust, necessitating collaborative preventive actions involving pesantren, communities, and government. Furthermore, stringent legal measures against perpetrators are crucial. This research significantly contributes to the literature on sexual violence prevention in religious educational settings, advocating a comprehensive approach encompassing education, supervision, and robust law enforcement to combat this issue effectively. Abstrak Studi ini menyelidiki upaya pencegahan terhadap kekerasan seksual di pesantren-pesantren di Indonesia, dengan fokus pada strategi yang diterapkan. Dilakukan menggunakan survei kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang disebar di berbagai pesantren. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencegahan difasilitasi melalui studi teks-teks khusus tentang pendidikan seks seperti 'Uqūdu al-Lujain, Qurratul' Uyūn, dan Fathul Izār. Langkah-langkah tambahan meliputi pemantauan komunikasi siswa melalui telepon genggam, pemberian nasihat (mau'idzoh) dari guru agama (Kiai), dan penegakan aturan ketat mengenai interaksi antara gender. Studi ini mengidentifikasi ketidakseimbangan kekuasaan sebagai faktor penyumbang, di mana individu dengan posisi lebih tinggi mengeksploitasi otoritas untuk mengendalikan orang lain. Implikasi dari temuan ini menyarankan bahwa kekerasan seksual merusak kepercayaan publik, memerlukan tindakan preventif kolaboratif yang melibatkan pesantren, masyarakat, dan pemerintah. Selain itu, tindakan hukum yang ketat terhadap pelaku sangat penting. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap literatur tentang pencegahan kekerasan seksual di lembaga pendidikan agama, mendorong pendekatan komprehensif yang mencakup pendidikan, pengawasan, dan penegakan hukum yang kuat untuk mengatasi masalah ini secara efektif.

Abstract

Dalam upaya menghidupi buah pemikiran Th Sumartana sebagai usaha dekonstruksi identitas protestan di Indonesia, buku ini menguraikan bagaimana agama berhadapan dengan para tiran pemerintah dan tiran agama. Buku ini mampu menggaris-besari persimpangan pluralisme agama dengan politik secara runtut dengan menelisik jejak-jejak sejarah mulai dari dinamika identitas Protetanisme era kolonialisme, proses hibriditas era kemerdekaan, pergolakan era orde baru hingga era masa kini terkait eskalasi Gerakan Sosial Baru. Dalam upaya membangun kohesivitas perlu ada mekanisme sosial dan politik kenegaraan. Untuk itu, dialog keagamaan bukan sekadar hadir pada kelompok-kelompok penganut agama saja, tetapi juga melibatkan negara dalam mengafirmasi toleransi dan moderasi keagamaan sesuai corak masyarakat Indonesia. Proses inilah yang memungkinkan “partisipasi warga” sebagai prasyarat utama demokrasi perlu ditelisik lebih komprehensif. Pertanyaan “Siapa mengatur siapa?” pada konteks demokrasi dalam dialog agama menjadi persoalan pemantik yang membuka celah penasaran. Buku ini mendiskusikan perang posisi antara agama dan negara serta antar agama dan agama lainnya yang dikemas holistik dengan pendekatan historiografi sehingga memicu penasaran untuk segera menuntaskan membaca buku hingga akhir.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengelaborasi dan menganalisis bentuk remitansi sebagai kesalehan sosial orang Minang dan kontribusi perantau terhadap pembangunan Ranah Minang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Sumber data adalah pengurus, anggota organisasi Minang Rantau yang aktif, masyarakat yang ada dirantau dan yang ada di Ranah Minang, pengurus masjid dan pemerintahan nagari. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa remitansi sebagai bentuk kesalehan sosial orang Minang rantau dalam membangun Ranah Minang. Pertama, bantuan material, seperti pembagian zakat tijarah, mengirimkan hewan korban, pengumpulan infaq dan sadaqah, serta sumbangan untuk pembangunan fisik. Kedua, perasaan emphati/simphati yang terwujud dalam bentuk paket-paket sembako yang dikirimkan dari rantau, terutama menjelang hari raya. Paket ini disalurkan oleh perantau Minang melalui organisasi Bundo Kanduang.  Ketiga, penggunaan power (kekuasaan), remitansi sebagi kesalehan sosial orang Minang rantau juga termanifestasi dalam bentuk pengarahan pembangunan infra struktur untuk ditempatkan di Ranah Minang, seperti didirikannya Sentra Tenun Lintau Buo, Kabupaten Tanah Datar sebagai sebuah sentra tenun terindah dan terbesar di Indonesia.  Keempat, sumbangan dalam bentuk totalitas, berupa, sumbangan tenaga, fikiran dan materi seperti pembangunan masjid dan mushalla. Remitansi sebagai kesalehan sosial masyarakat Minang rantau berpengaruh terhadap perkembangan di Ranah Minang, baik pembangunan fisik maupun pembangun non fisik.

Abstract

Abstract This study examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Umrah Travel Organizers (PPIUs) in Bekasi City, West Java Province, Indonesia, focusing on their resilience and adaptation strategies in response to journey restrictions imposed by the Saudi Arabian government. Using Ulrich BeckΓÇÖs risk society theory, the research analyzes the effects of Umrah journey restrictions and explores how PPIUs in Bekasi City adjusted their operations. Qualitative methods, including observation, document analysis, and in-depth interviews conducted between September and October 2021, were employed to explore this phenomenon deeply. This approach facilitated a comprehensive understanding of how the pandemic led to operational declines among PPIUs and prompted innovations within the sector. The closure of Saudi ArabiaΓÇÖs borders to Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia significantly impacted PPIUs, resulting in financial strain and operational crises. While some PPIUs managed to adapt through effective risk management and diversification of business activities, others faced closure due to financial losses. The study highlights the diminishing influence of state actors in controlling Umrah travel, underscoring the increasing role of non-state actors and digital platforms in the industry. This research contributes to the literature on the vulnerability of religious tourism during global crises and emphasizes the importance of adaptive strategies within the PPIU sector. Future research should focus on developing sustainable practices and innovations to enhance resilience against similar challenges, providing a foundation for practical applications in the field of religious tourism and risk management. Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji dampak pandemi COVID-19 terhadap Penyelenggara Perjalanan Umrah (PPIU) di Kota Bekasi, Provinsi Jawa Barat, Indonesia, dengan fokus pada strategi ketahanan dan adaptasi mereka dalam menanggapi pembatasan perjalanan yang diberlakukan oleh pemerintah Arab Saudi. Dengan menggunakan teori risk society dari Ulrich Beck, penelitian ini menganalisis efek pembatasan perjalanan Umrah dan mengeksplorasi bagaimana PPIU di Kota Bekasi menyesuaikan operasinya. Metode kualitatif, termasuk observasi, analisis dokumen, dan wawancara mendalam yang dilakukan antara September dan Oktober 2021, digunakan untuk mendalami fenomena ini. Pendekatan ini memfasilitasi pemahaman komprehensif tentang bagaimana pandemi menyebabkan penurunan operasional di kalangan PPIU dan mendorong inovasi dalam sektor tersebut. Penutupan perbatasan Arab Saudi bagi jamaah Umrah dari Indonesia berdampak signifikan pada PPIU, menyebabkan tekanan keuangan dan krisis operasional. Sementara beberapa PPIU berhasil beradaptasi melalui manajemen risiko yang efektif dan diversifikasi aktivitas bisnis, yang lain menghadapi penutupan karena kerugian keuangan. Studi ini menyoroti berkurangnya pengaruh aktor negara dalam mengendalikan perjalanan Umrah, dengan menekankan peran meningkatnya aktor non-negara dan platform digital dalam industri ini. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada literatur tentang kerentanan pariwisata religius selama krisis global dan menekankan pentingnya strategi adaptif dalam sektor PPIU. Penelitian masa depan sebaiknya berfokus pada pengembangan praktik berkelanjutan dan inovasi untuk meningkatkan ketahanan terhadap tantangan serupa, memberikan landasan untuk aplikasi praktis dalam bidang pariwisata religius dan manajemen risiko.

Abstract

Abstrak Pencarian atas rahasia Tuhan bak rumus-rumus yang termanifestasi dalam bahasa manusia melalui teka-teki tentang alam. Investigasi derajat kontribusi agama pada wacana perubahan iklim mendorong rasa ingin tahu entitas manusia sebagai umat beragama. Moralitas baru membawa manusia untuk memuliakan sesama makhluk mencakup alam berjiwa dan berdimensi suci. Islam dan lingkungan menjadi tak terpisahkan sebagai satu kesatuan yang berjalin kelindan. Buku ini merekonstruksi sumber pengetahuan dan etika moral dalam penanganan perubahan iklim. Penanganan perubahan iklim yang dominan dipandang melalui lensa sains dan teknologi selayaknya melibatkan pula pendekatan moral, etika, dan agama yang bersumber dari ayat-ayat kitab suci qauniyah. Buku ini menyuguhkan pemahaman mendalam bagaimana umat beragama menyikapi situasi lingkungan dan tantangan perubahan iklim. Islamic Declaration on Global Climate Change menjadi salah satu pergerakan yang disinggung dalam buku ini sebagai urgensi pergerakan dunia islam ketika media kurang meliput hal-hal itu. Perpaduan pengetahuan lingkungan praktis dan teori ilmiah islam memantik jiwa untuk memperdalam setiap bait tulisan yang penulis curahkan. Perspektif terpadu Fachruddin Mangunjaya memadukan keimanan dengan narasi lingkungan di masa-masa yang penuh ketidakpastian.

Abstract

AbstractIndonesia, which consists of various tribes, races, religions, cultures, and languages, is a priceless wealth that needs to be processed well. So tolerance and moderation are needed to calm all groups, especially in matters of harmony between religious communities. The purpose of this writing is to determine the portrait of harmony between religious communities within the framework of religious moderation. Meanwhile, the research method uses a qualitative approach. The results of this research are: first, that the people of Sidodadi village, Gedangan subdistrict, and Malang district always appreciate and respect the existence and implementation of worship between religious communities, both Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism, and that there is no conflict between religious communities. Second, helping each other in building places of worship; this can be seen when Muslims, Christian congregations, and Hindus help each other in building places of worship voluntarily, and there is no coercion in helping to build these places of worship. Third, giving freedom in choosing the beliefs they adhere to. As in one family, there are several beliefs: Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism. Parents give their children complete freedom in choosing their religion, but their lives are always harmonious and peaceful. Then, when serving food at religious events, if those present are Muslims, then those who prepare the food are the Muslims themselves. AbstrakIndonesia yang terdiri dari berbagai suku, ras, agama, budaya dan bahasa merupakan kekayaan yang tak ternilai harganya sehingga perlu diolah dengan baik. Maka toleransi dan moderasi diperlukan untuk menenangkan semua kelompok, terutama dalam urusan kerukunan antar umat beragama. Tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah untuk mengetahui potret kerukunan antar umat beragama dalam bingkai moderasi beragama. Sedangkan metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah; Pertama, bahwa masyarakat desa Sidodadi kecamatan Gedangan kabupaten Malang selalu menghargai dan menghormati keberadaan dan pelaksanaan ibadah antar umat beragama, baik Islam, Kristen dan Hindu, dan tidak ada konflik antar umat beragama. Kedua, saling membantu dalam membangun tempat ibadah, hal ini terlihat ketika mendirikan tempat ibadah bagi umat Islam, jamaah Nasrani dan umat Hindu saling membantu dalam membangun tempat ibadah secara sukarela dan tidak ada paksaan dalam membantu pembangunan tempat ibadah tersebut. Ketiga, memberikan kebebasan dalam memilih keyakinan yang dianutnya, sebagaimana dalam satu keluarga terdapat beberapa keyakinan, ada Islam, Kristen dan Hindu, orang tua memberikan kebebasan penuh untuk anaknya dalam memilih agama, namun kehidupannya selalu rukun dan damai. Kemudian dalam hidangan makanan pada acara keagamaan jika yang hadir adalah umat Islam, maka yang menyiapkan makanan tersebut adalah umat Islam sendiri.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to explore the inter-religious harmony built through tradition, culture, and local wisdom in Sengir Hamlet, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. Sengir is a multireligious community with Muslim and Christian residents who can maintain tolerance and harmony in daily life. Using qualitative and phenomenological approaches, this research revealed that local traditions such as Suran, Saparan, Rejeban, and death prayers are important in building spiritual harmony. These traditions not only are a space for social interaction but also reflect the values of pluralism and religious moderation. The results showed that the Sengir community's understanding of religion and culture is inclusive, which allows them to coexist peacefully despite having different beliefs. The leadership of religious, customary, and community leaders contributes to maintaining this harmony. This research contributes to the literature on diversity management and the importance of interfaith dialog based on local wisdom as a strategic solution in creating a harmonious and inclusive society.

Abstract

AbstractReligious differences in the community sometimes create small conflicts, and therefore, efforts are required to overcome intolerance through local wisdom. This study aimed to describe, explore and analyze the local culture of Lamaholot-East Flores in the local wisdom of ΓÇ£koda kirin nulun walen melan senarenΓÇ¥ to build an attitude of tolerance and make this expression a way to create an attitude of tolerance in the land of Lamaholot. This qualitative study was conducted in East Flores Regency, precisely on Solor Island, Watanhura village, Pepageka-Kelubagolit Adonara village and Pohon Bao-Larantuka. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with six key informants representing traditional leaders, religious leaders, and community leaders. Data were also obtained through participatory observation and documentation. The results of the study show that the Lamaholot expression ΓÇ£koda kirin nulun walen melan senarenΓÇ¥ is a guideline for tolerance that can be used as a guideline in building a peaceful life amidst differences in beliefs in the land of Lamaholot and in general in Indonesian society. Tolerance can grow and be strengthened if the Lamaholot community lives and practices the values and meanings contained in the expression. For this reason, the inheritors of Lamaholot cultural values can preserve this local culture through education and local policies as local wisdom in building tolerance in living together amidst differences in religion or belief. AbstrakPerbedaan agama dalam hidup bersama kadang melahirkan konflik minor sehingga perlu adanya upaya untuk mengatasi sikap intoleransi melalui local wisdom. Studi ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan, mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis budaya lokal Lamaholot-Flores Timur dalam local wisdom koda kirin nulun walen melan senaren untuk membangun sikap toleransi dan menjadikan ungkapan ini sebagai jalan menciptakan sikap toleransi di bumi Lamaholot. Studi kualitatif ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Flores Timur tepatnya di Pulau Solor desa Watanhura, desa Pepageka-Kelubagolit Adonara dan di Pohon Bao-Larantuka. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap informan kunci sebanyak 6 orang, yakni: tokoh adat, tokoh agama, dan tokoh masyarakat. Data juga diperoleh melalui observasi partisipatif dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ungkapan Lamaholot koda kirin nulun walen melan senaren merupakan pedoman toleransi yang dapat dijadikan sebagai pegangan dalam membangun hidup damai di tengah perbedaan keyakinan di bumi Lamaholot dan secara umum di masyarakat Indonesia. Toleransi dapat bertumbuh dan menguat apabila masyarakat Lamaholot menghayati dan mempraktikan nilai dan makna yang terkandung dalam ungkapan tersebut. Untuk itu pewaris nilai budaya Lamaholot dapat menjadikan atau melestarikan budaya lokal ini melalui pendidikan dan kebijakan lokal sebagai local wisdom dalam membangun toleransi dalam hidup bersama di tengah perbedaan agama atau keyakinan.

Abstract

AbstractIn accordance with the implementation of village autonomy, village governments face challenges in governing village funds and maintaining inter-religious harmony. This research analyzed the internalization of inter-religious harmony in the region where Islamic Law is implemented and specifically investigated how village administrations sustain inter-religious harmony during the village funds management process. This article also examined religious minoritiesΓÇÖ participation in the village funds management process through the lens of harmony among religious communities. This paper employed qualitative methodology to examine cases from various villages in Banda Aceh City, where the predominant population and all village leaders are Muslim, exhibiting a propensity to allocate village funds exclusively for Muslim activities. At the same time, other religious villagers constitute co-existing minority groups. The researcher identified the case locations in three villages across two distinct sub-districts, focusing on the inter-religious population around worship house distribution areas. The data were assessed by comparing findings from observations, in-depth interviews, and document reviews about village fund administration from 2016 to 2020 through triangulation analysis. The studyΓÇÖs findings indicated that diverse religious minorities participate in village funds management during the planning and implementation phases. Focusing on how to foster inter-religious harmony principles, encompassing tolerance, equality, and collaboration among religious communities, this research elaborated on how the village fund management in Banda Aceh City occurs steadily, lacking dynamism and conflicts among religions.

Abstract

AbstractIn Indonesia, religious moderation is crucial for it promotes tolerance and prevents the growth of extreme ideas, especially among the younger population. Despite its significance, there is a lack of study on students' comprehension of religious moderation in areas like West Java, where intolerance is more prevalent and leaves a void in discussing educational tactics to raise awareness. This study aimed to assess how West Javan students perceive religious moderation and investigate methods for improving their knowledge and utilization of its tenets. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach; data were gathered from 1,200 students actively involved in campus organizations at five West Javan universities. Questions about national identity, religious behaviors, and religious moderation were included in surveys disseminated using Google Forms. Clustering techniques were used to group student response patterns, and descriptive statistics, such as mean analysis, were used to evaluate general tendencies. The results highlighted the necessity for focused interventions, showing that while 43% of students lack adequate understanding, 57% of students comprehend religious moderation. There are, however, still gaps in addressing misunderstandings and extremism susceptibility despite the broad acceptance of Pancasila as a unifying concept and the general support for diversity and tolerance. These findings underscored the need for specialized educational programs that enhance students' ability to foster tolerance and unity while highlighting students' potential as agents of inclusion and harmony. Future studies should therefore concentrate on evaluating the success of these initiatives, comparing different geographical areas, and investigating how social media affects students' attitudes toward religious moderation.
