Abstract

Education is currently faced with the 21st century, where students need various skills in addition to knowledge content. This study aims to develop semester lesson plan (Rencana Pembelajaran Semester/RPS) in the mahārat al-istimā‘ course, Arabic Language Education study program at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakrta. The method used in this research is research and development (R & D). The R & D procedure used in this research is the development model of Successive Approximation Models 1 (SAM 1) which was introduced by Micheal W. Allen. The results show that based on needs analysis, some shortcomings were found in the RPS of mahārat al-istimā‘. Subject learning outcomes (CPMK) in each RPS field have not been integrated. The difference in CPMK in courses in the same plot is enough to show that the design of the mahārat al-istimā‘ course is not related. The RPS design developed is to make a rough RPS design using the KKNI and MBKM models. The results of product evaluation on experts are quite good. This means that the mahārat al-istimā‘ RPS that is developed is integrated with each other.

Abstract

This research focuses on the thought of Abū al-Qāsim al-Zajjājī and his contributions in naḥwu. By using descriptive qualitative approach, it was found that al-Zajjājī, who lived in the third and fourth centuries of the Hijriyah in Baghdad, with the style “khalaṭa al-madhabayn” tradition, compromised the Basrah and Kufah schools, in other terms, selection (ikhtiyār) and choice (intikhāb) opinions his predecessors. Such traditions have a strong contribution in influencing how al-Zajjājī studied and argued. Through selection and choice, al-Zajjājī proves that it is okay to take opinions from any circles, even through selection and choice it can help explain language phenomena as an introduction to classifying them into special discussions and things similar to them with the aim of expressing the language system with not fanatical to any one sect. The history above also plays a role in having a positive impact towards the maturity of naḥwu studies in subsequent generations, namely the Andalusian naḥwu network with all its past opinions then formulates or applies principles to naḥwu which are more mature and established.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and describe the form of actantial structure and functional structure in the novel Arwāḥ Mut‘abah by Asmā’ al-Ḥuwaylī based on the perspective of a French theorist of naratology and semiotics, A. J. Greimas. This research used the descriptive-qualitative research type. The data source in this research is the novel Arwāḥ Mut‘abah by Asmā’ al-Ḥuwaylī with the addition of several references related to theory and objects. Data collection techniques used reading techniques and note-taking (writing) techniques. While the data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman technique, including data reduction, data display, and verification of data or conclusions. From this research, we found eight actantial schemes. The eight actantial schemes included five perfect schemes and three imperfect schemes. While the functional structure in the novel Arwāḥ Mut‘abah had a complete storyline, namely the initial situation, transformation, and final situation. The final situation in this study is in the form of something that is calming but at the same time tense, namely death.

Abstract

The Total Physical Response (TPR) learning method was developed by James J. Asher. He argues that direct pronunciation to children or students contains an order, and then children or students will respond physically before producing verbal or speech responses. The aims of this study were (1) to find out how far speaking skills (mahārat al-kalām) in Arabic have increased through the TPR method in MTsN 4 Jombang, and (2) to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in increasing mahārat al-kalām through the TPR method in MTsN 4 Jombang. This research method uses a descriptive-qualitative approach with data collection techniques using observation, interviews, documentation, and oral tests. The data analysis technique uses data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The results showed that (1) with the TPR learning method, the final test score of Arabic learning for mahārat al-kalām in cycle 1 was 74.3% (good). After being given referrals again in cycle 2, it reached 87.6% (very good); (2) The supporting factors that influence speaking activities are language (linguistics) and non-linguistics, while the inhibiting factors are more dominant due to a lack of vocabulary (mufradāt) mastery.

Abstract

The method of understanding the story of the Quran using a historical approach is that in several verses it has experienced deadlocks in the editorials of similar verses. Thus, a stylistic approach that focuses on the analysis of Arabic syntax is needed to understand these verses. This study aims to answer questions about the interpretation of stories in the verses of the Quran that have the same word order. The method used in this study is content analysis with a stylistic approach at the syntactic level. The primary data sources used are stories in the verses of the Quran that have similar wording, while the secondary sources used are related and relevant to the research topic. The results of this study indicate that the verses of the Quran with similar wording do not always refer to the same events. One element of the story can be described in various versions according to the intent and purpose of the story. This article can contribute to understanding the story in the verses of the Quran. Apart from the historical approach, a stylistic approach can also be helpful, especially at the level of Arabic syntax.

Abstract

Poetry in pre-Islamic Arabia is a social document (dīwān) and the most authoritative source possessed by the Arab people. This fact does not imply that pre-Islamic poetry is monotonous with a single pattern of tendency. On the contrary, pre-Islamic poetry is a collection of various tendencies that are divided into different aspects and diversities, both in expression (al-ta‘bīr) and content (al-muḥtawá). Therefore, this study aims to describe the facts about pre-Islamic poetry that not only revolves around tribal fanaticism (‘aṣabīyah qabalīyah) but also exhibit deviations from tribal (qabīlah) traditions. The research method employed in this study essentially utilizes historical methods, including the heuristic, criticism, and interpretation steps in analyzing the acquired data sources. The results of this study indicate that the other side of the content of pre-Islamic poetry which deviates is reflected in two tendencies: first, deviations that arise from individual subjective experiences (al-tajribah al-dhātīyah), such as the poems of Imru’ al-Qays and Ṭarafah ibn al-‘Abd; second, deviations that arise from political and ideological experiences (al-tajribah al-siyāsīyah al-īdiyūlūjīyah), as reflected in the poems of the brigand (Ṣa‘ālīk) group.

Abstract

Learning through games is an activity that can enhance students' inclination to engage their interests and motivation, thereby fostering a conducive learning environment. One form of game applicable in nahwu learning is the first-rank game. Implemented at Daarul Huda Li Tahfidzi Al-Quran Islamic Boarding School, this game serves as a tool for learning nahwu (Arabic syntax). This study employs descriptive qualitative research to describe the process of nahwu learning utilizing the first-rank game, along with its advantages and disadvantages in implementation. The research involves one Arabic teacher and 15 students as subjects. Data collection includes observing the nahwu learning process and conducting interviews with the Arabic teacher and twelfth-grade MA students to understand Arabic language learning. Documentation comprises the outcomes of Arabic language learning through the first-rank game. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study reveals four stages in the nahwu learning process using the first-rank game, namely introduction, opening of learning, game preparation, game application, and closing of the learning process. Furthermore, nahwu learning packaged through this game creates an enjoyable learning atmosphere, cultivates critical thinking skills, and aids students in coordinating motor skills.

Abstract

The researcher in this paper explores the topic of Arabic grammar and its significance in the Arabic language. To showcase the nature of Arabic grammar and its position in the language, the researcher begins by collecting definitions of Arabic grammar from linguists. The researcher then delves into Qatrub's theory on the impact of Arabic grammar on the meanings of the Arabic language and analyzes his deviation from the majority of grammarians' views. This research is conducted through library research, gathering the necessary data and information related to the topic. After analyzing Qatrub's theory, the author draws conclusions, Regarding the Arabic grammar's impact on the meanings of the language, the researcher concludes that it has an important position in Arabic. However, linguists are divided into two groups: one group believes that Arabic grammar has an impact on the meanings of the Arabic language, while the second group believes that Arabic grammar has no essential semantic value. Qatrub's deviation from the majority of scholars or their consensus is attributed to the isolationist thinking, which was characterized by scientific liberation and the prioritization of reason, even if it contradicts religious texts or the consensus of the people.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) model integrated with digital media in improving naḥwu (Arabic grammar) learning competence at the Arabic Language Education Program, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The TAI model combines individual learning with structured group collaboration and, in this study, is integrated with three main digital platforms: Educaplay, Aljazeera Learning, and Learning Management System (LMS). A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 25 second-semester students selected through purposive sampling. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase in the average scores from pretest (71.30) to posttest (89.40), with a paired sample t-test result of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The implementation of digital-based TAI positively impacted students’ understanding of syntactic structures, fostered active engagement, and strengthened both collaborative and independent learning. The integration of digital media enriched the learning process through visualization, interactivity, and authentic Arabic language resources. The findings suggest that the digital TAI model is a viable and innovative instructional strategy for naḥwu learning in higher education, aligning with the characteristics of 21st-century learners.
