The study describes the students thinking skill, and metacognitive in problem solving reasoning (PSR) learning model at SMAN 19 Makassar in the academic year 2018/2019. The design of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) in which subject was students social science eleventh grade students that consisted of 69 students. Data were collected by using a problem-solving reasoning tests in the form of multiple choice, essay, oral and practice tests. Data of problem solving reasoning (PSR) abilities were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of this study show that: (1) The application of problem solving reasoning (PSR) can improve the statistical students metacognitive of social science eleventh grade students. In cycle I, the students English outcomes average reached 59.2, whereas in cycle II was successfully increased into 84.8, In cycle I, the students sociology and anthropology outcomes average reached 60.9, whereas in cycle II was successfully increased into 88.5 and in cycle I, the students Art and Culture outcomes average reached 62.3, whereas in cycle II was successfully increased into 86.9. (2) The application of problem solving reasoning (PSR) can improve students' metacognitive of social science XI grade students. These results indicate that there has been an increasing in percentage mastery learning by 20% from cycle I to cycle II.

Abstract

Natural science and environmental learning in the 21st century require Higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The purpose of this study was to develop an ILMIZI learning model. The method used is research and development carried out in June-July 2019. The results of the study showed that the ILMIZI model syntax consists of 6 stages, start from Identify problem, Limitation problem, Make mind map, Interpret result, Analyze result, Interaction and evaluate. The six stages are the results of development which are expected to have an impact on the rise of HOTS. Validation results from various learning experts and teachers showed a score of 3.74 with a percentage of  93.50%  and a very valid category which means that the ILMIZI model is suitable for use in natural science learning (biology, physics, chemistry) and environmental learning at all levels of education. The conclusion is that the ILMIZI learning model was suitable for learning and expected to have an impact on HOTS students

Abstract

Nowadays, the 21st Century learning demands in which integrated technology in learning is common. Learning with the STEM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) answers the demands of learning in the 21st century. The aim of this study is to describe the results of the validation of learning tools developed, in terms of practicality of learning devices reviewed from the activities of students during learning, while in terms of the effectiveness of learning devices reviewed from the results of students' science process skills. The method used in the 4D development research was adapted. During the field trial phase, 30 research subjects were used in the eighth grade students. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. Learners conduct hydrostatic pressure experiments, the measured process skills component formulating the problem, formulating hypotheses, identifying variables, interpreting data and drawing conclusions. Science process skills test in the form of essay questions on material pressure substances that are in accordance with predetermined SPS (Science Process Skills) components. The results of the validation of the learning tools obtained a score of 3. 81 very valid categories and feasible to be used as teacher reference in learning, the results of the practicality of the learning tools obtained the highest activity of students conducting experiments reaching a percentage of 35%, while the effectiveness of the learning devices obtained the highest SPS (Science Process Skills) results interpreting the data component of 99%.
