Abstract

Critical thinking skills have become an essential competency in modern education; however, the use of traditional instructional media has proven to be less effective in fostering these skills. This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of digital media in the form of virtual tours in enhancing students' critical thinking abilities through a systematic literature review. Following PRISMA guidelines, this review analyzes 20 selected scholarly articles published between 2019 and 2024. 161 The articles examined include the implementation of virtual tour media such as Virtual Field Trips (VFT) and digital museums across various educational levels. The article selection and data extraction processes were conducted systematically and independently by two reviewers, with both quantitative and qualitative synthesis of results. The findings indicate that digital virtual tour media consistently and effectively enhance students' critical thinking skills, particularly in the areas of analysis, evaluation, and inference. The study found that quasi-experimental and developmental research approaches were the most dominant, with the majority of study subjects at the elementary and secondary education levels. The most frequently used instructional models in combination with virtual tours were Problem-Based Learning (PBL), guided inquiry, and Project-Based Learning. This review offers significant scholarly contributions for educators, researchers, and curriculum developers in implementing effective digital virtual tour media to optimize students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

Numeracy skills in elementary school need early strengthening. Fractions are a critical topic because students must understand parts of a whole, build representations, and apply ideas in context. This study aimed to analyze the needs for developing a local wisdom based fractions learning module to strengthen Grade IV students’ conceptual understanding in elementary schools in Nguntoronadi District. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. It was conducted in five elementary schools. Participants included Grade IV teachers (n = 5) and Grade IV students (n = 50). Data were collected through teacher and student questionnaires covering seven module need indicators. Open ended items were used to explore participants’ experiences, difficulties, and expectations. Data were analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Source triangulation was applied by comparing teacher and student responses on the same indicators. The results show that students’ conceptual understanding of fractions is still uneven. The highest difficulties occur in comparing fractions, identifying equivalent fractions, and solving word problems. Both teachers and students need a module that integrates local wisdom contexts, uses simple language, provides detailed step by step instructions, includes concept summaries, offers graduated practice, provides brief understanding checks, and delivers clear feedback. Teachers and students are generally ready to use the module, but the module should remain flexible due to limited instructional time

Abstract

Inclusive education has become a global priority in ensuring equitable access to quality learning by promoting flexible, accessible, and student-centered approaches that address the diverse needs of all learners, including slow learner students. Slow learner students often face difficulties in conventional learning due to their diverse learning needs, thus requiring inclusive approaches such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and flexible, personalized adaptive learning media to meet individual needs. This study aims to systematically review the literature on the use of adaptive learning media within the UDL framework to support the learning needs of slow learner students. The review was conducted using the PRISMA model by analysing articles indexed in SINTA, Scopus and proceeding over the past ten years from 2016-2026 to identify types of media, UDL implementation, and their impact on learning outcomes. The findings indicate the review of 30 studies shows that adaptive learning media particularly audio-visual, manipulative, and visual forms are widely used to support slow learner students, with a strong emphasis on mathematics and language learning. These media effectively enhance understanding, engagement, and individualized learning in line with UDL principles, although the implementation remains more focused on representation and engagement than on action and expression.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in Class 3B of MIN 2 Kebumen, Kebumen Regency, in the 2025/2026 academic year faced learning difficulties and low academic achievement in the topic of angles. The researcher sought to improve the mathematics achievement of Class 3B students through Classroom Action Research (CAR). The aim of this study was to determine the effect of using concrete media to enhance students' understanding of the angle material. This study was a Classroom Action Research consisting of two cycles, with each cycle including two meetings. Data collection techniques included tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which involves data condensation, data display, and data verification. The research results showed changes after using concrete media in the angle topic. The improvement in the first cycle was 64%, and in the second cycle, it increased to 88%. Based on the initial observation, it was found that students had learning difficulties and low academic performance, with an initial average score of 59.24 and a low mastery level. The study results indicated a significant improvement in student learning achievement. After the intervention, the average student score increased to 79 in the first cycle, while in the second cycle, the initial average score was 65.2 and increased to 88.92. These findings indicate that the use of concrete media in mathematics learning can improve students’ understanding of the angle topic. Thus, concrete media can be considered an effective alternative teaching strategy to overcome learning difficulties in mathematics at the elementary school level.Pembelajaran Matematika di kelas 3b MIN 2 Kebumen Kabupaten Tahun Pelajaran 2025 / 2026  mengalami Kesulitan belajar dan hasil prestasi matematika rendah pada materi sudut. Peneliti berusaha untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar Matematika siswa kelas 3b dengan penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh media konkret untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada materi sudut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian PTK yang terdiri dari 2 siklus. Masing-masing siklus terdiri dari 2 pertemuan. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan tes, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model Miles & Huberman & Saldana yang terdiri dari tahap kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa adanya perubahan setelah penggunaan media konkret pada materi sudut. Dengan besar peningkatan di siklus 1 adalah sebebsar 64% dan besar peningkatan di siklus II adalah sebesar 88%. Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal, diketahui bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan belajar dan memiliki prestasi yang rendah, dengan rata-rata nilai awal sebesar 59,24 dan tingkat ketuntasan yang rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman siswa. Setelah tindakan dilakukan, rata-rata nilai siswa meningkat menjadi 79. Hasil ini di peroleh dari siklus pertama, sedangkan hasil yang diperoleh pada siklus kedua menunjukkan nilai rata-rata awal sebesar 65,2 dan nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 88,92. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media konkret dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada materi sudut. Dengan demikian, media konkret dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang efektif dalam mengatasi kesulitan belajar matematika di tingkat sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Riset ini dilaksanakan guna mengetahui bagaimana tingkat adversity quotient mempengaruhi fear of failure pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir di kota Bukittinggi. Dalam memperoleh data, peneliti memanfaatkan metode kuantitatif lewat analisis regresi linear sederhana. Accidental sampling dipakai dalam pengambilan sampelnya pada 341 mahasiswa. Skala likert yang tersusun atas kedua skala penelitian, yakni Adersity Respons Profile (ARP) serta Performance Failure Appraisal Inventory (PFAI).digunakan sebagai instrumen riset Merujuk pada hasil analisis mendapati skor R-Square sejumlah 0,173 yang memperlihatkan bahwasanya adversity quotient memengaruhi fear of failure sejumlah 17,3%. Temuan ini memberi simpulan bahwasanya terdapatnya pengaruh adversity quotient terhadap fear of failure secara signifikan dengan arah negatif.

Abstract

Student discipline is a crucial part in character development and academic achievement in primary education. At Elementary School 1 Kemiri Boyolali, the discipline policy, executed via the School Literacy Movement (SLM) program and the 5S culture, seeks to enhance student participation in learning. The execution of this policy encounters obstacles including insufficient resources, inadequate parental engagement, and discrepancies in teachers' methods of implementing punishment. This study seeks to examine the responsibilities of the principal, teachers, and parents in facilitating the execution of discipline rules, as well as to identify the obstacles and solutions employed inside the school. The employed methodology is qualitative, utilising a case study at Elementary School 1 Kemiri Boyolali, incorporating observational techniques and semi-structured interviews with the principal, educators, and parents. Data analysis employed a thematic approach, involving systematic coding of interview transcripts and observation notes to identify patterns related to stakeholder roles, obstacles, and solutions. The study's findings suggest that collaboration among the principal, teachers, and parents is crucial for effective punishment implementation, despite existing challenges in coordination and time limitations. This study underscores the significance of collaboration among stakeholders in fostering an effective culture of discipline in educational institutions. This study offers practical insights for primary schools to enhance the execution of discipline policies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problems experienced by students, namely learning emphasizes too much on cognitive abilities, fourth grade students are not yet able to think analytically, and students are not yet able to break down problems into smaller parts. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of STEM-based learning on alternative energy material for fourth grade elementary school students in Wuryantoro District, and identify changes in their analytical thinking skills after the implementation of the STEM learning model. The research method used is a quantitative experiment with a Quasi-experimental research approach using a pretest and posttest control group design. The observed variables involve the STEM-based learning model with alternative energy material and students' analytical thinking skills. The research sample includes 30 fourth grade students in four elementary schools in Wuryantoro District. The sample was selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through observation, tests, and documentation. The results of the study showed that: (1) The STEM-based learning model for the use of alternative energy had a positive impact on fourth-grade students, (2) There were significant changes in students' analytical thinking skills after the application of the STEM-based learning model, and (3) The STEM-based learning model for alternative energy material had significant effectiveness in improving the analytical thinking skills of fourth-grade students. These findings provide an in-depth understanding of the effectiveness of the STEM-based learning model for alternative energy material in developing students' analytical thinking skills.

Abstract

The background of this learning improvement research is the low learning outcomes of science students in grade III of SDN Tunggulsari I, Laweyan District, 2021/2022 school year. Students are lazy in following the lessons, which impacts student learning outcomes less, besides the teacher learning methods are still conventional and less varied. Another reason is student learning activities that are still passive. The purpose of this study is 1) Improving student learning outcomes, in the subject matter of Natural Sciences Changing Objects in class III students at SDN Tunggulsari I Laweyan District 2021/2022 Academic Year, 2) Improving Teacher competence in natural science learning, material Changing Objects to students class III SDN Tunggulsari I Laweyan Subdistrict 2021/2022 Academic Year, 3) Experimental Method can be used to change student learning behavior in natural science students grade III SDN Tunggulsari I Laweyan Subdistrict Academic Year 2021/2022.This research is a Classroom Action Research conducted in class III of SDN Tunggulsari I in the academic year 2021/2022 with the number of students 20. The action stage in learning is planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. From the conclusions above it can be seen that the Experimental Method can improve student learning outcomes. The use of the Experiment method can improve teacher competency in learning. The Experimental Method can improve student learning outcomes in students' cognitive mastery and writing skills. Experimental Method can increase student learning activities.

Abstract

Improving students' moral character is a primary focus of learning at the TPQ (Islamic Junior High School). This study aims to improve students' moral character through the implementation of the PAKEM (Active, Creative, Effective, and Enjoyable Learning) strategy at the Al-Mubarok Adikarso TPQ in Kebumen. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), implemented in two cycles. Each cycle included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were students at the TPQ Al-Mubarok Adikarso Kebumen, volume 3. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed an increase in students' positive behaviors, such as honesty, discipline, politeness, and responsibility after the implementation of the PAKEM strategy. This approach was able to create a more enjoyable learning atmosphere and encourage students' active involvement in the learning process. In conclusion, the PAKEM strategy is effective in improving students' moral character in the TPQ environment.Peningkatan akhlaqul karimah santri menjadi fokus utama dalam pembelajaran di TPQ. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan akhlaqul karimah santri melalui penerapan strategi PAKEM (Pembelajaran Aktif, Kreatif, Efektif, dan Menyenangkan) di TPQ Al-Mubarok Adikarso, Kebumen. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah santri TPQ Al-Mubarok Adikarso Kebumen jilid 3. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan perilaku positif santri, seperti jujur, disiplin, sopan santun, dan tanggung jawab setelah diterapkannya strategi PAKEM. Pendekatan ini mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih menyenangkan dan mendorong keterlibatan aktif santri dalam proses pembelajaran. Kesimpulannya, strategi PAKEM efektif dalam meningkatkan akhlaqul karimah santri di lingkungan TPQ.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of School Operational Assistance (BOS) fund utilization on students’ literacy and numeracy achievement through learning quality as a mediating variable. The research employs a quantitative approach using school panel data from 2022 to 2024, analyzed through the Fixed Effect Model and mediation analysis. The findings indicate that the utilization of BOS funds has a positive and significant effect on learning quality and directly as well as indirectly enhances students’ literacy and numeracy outcomes. Learning quality serves as a partial mediator that strengthens the relationship between financial support and student achievement. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of the Resource-Based View and Human Capital Theory to explain the mechanism by which financial resources are transformed into educational quality improvement. These results emphasize that the effectiveness of BOS funds depends largely on how they are managed to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning in relation to students’ literacy and numeracy outcomes. The implications of this study contribute to the advancement of educational science, particularly by enriching the understanding of effective educational resource management to improve learning quality and student achievement in Indonesia.
