Abstract

Mahasiswa pada era digital menunjukkan kecenderungan semakin bergantung pada teknologi cerdas dalam proses penulisan, tetapi kemampuan mereka memadukan literasi digital dengan pemanfaatan AI secara kritis, kreatif, dan bertanggung jawab masih terbatas sehingga kualitas pembelajaran menulis kreatif berbasis isu lingkungan belum berkembang optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan menelusuri pengaruh keterampilan literasi digital terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen sastra hijau digital serta menguji peran mediasi kompetensi AI mahasiswa dalam hubungan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis PLS-SEM berbasis data kuesioner dan tes menulis cerpen sastra hijau digital melibatkan mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Universitas Negeri Makassar. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan literasi digital tidak berpengaruh langsung terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen sastra hijau digital, namun memberikan pengaruh signifikan melalui jalur tidak langsung melalui kompetensi AI mahasiswa berfungsi sebagai mediator penuh. Kompetensi AI terbukti menjadi elemen kunci menghubungkan kemampuan digital mahasiswa dengan performa menulis kreatif berbasis nilai ekologis karena AI mendukung proses pengembangan narasi, pemilihan diksi, pemecahan hambatan stilistika, dan penguatan pesan ekologis. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pemutakhiran teori tentang hubungan literasi digital, kompetensi AI, dan performa menulis sastra digital serta memberikan rekomendasi pengembangan kurikulum literasi digital yang terintegrasi AI mendukung pembelajaran menulis berorientasi keberlanjutan. Temuan ini juga memberikan implikasi praktis bagi lembaga pendidikan dalam memperkuat kompetensi abad dua puluh satu dan mendorong tercapainya SDG 4 Quality Education melalui pemberdayaan kemampuan teknologi mahasiswa untuk menghasilkan karya sastra ekologis lebih reflektif dan bermakna.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of various teaching strategies on student engagement in an English Language Teaching (ELT) classroom at the university level. Data from a 90-minute online postgraduate course on second language acquisition were gathered using qualitative discourse analysis, through recorded classroom interaction conducted via Zoom. For identifying collaborative, directive, probing, scaffolding, and facilitative interactional strategies, this study used qualitative discourse analysis of a 90-minute online postgraduate class on second language acquisition. Five illustrative examples of interaction were chosen from an online class conducted on Zoom, and discourse analysis was carried out using these examples to identify teacher discourse strategies and their impact on student participation. Autonomy and multidirectional communication were further encouraged via collaborative interactions. Conversely, directive methods resulted in fewer replies and lower levels of participation. Discourse evidence indicates that collaborative and facilitative techniques fostered more extended learner responses and sustained engagement, whereas directive moves discouraged engagement. this study makes a contribution with empirical findings from an EFL context in an Indonesian university setting in providing evidence that student-centered and interactionally responsive approaches to teaching, in particular when using facilitative questioning, scaffolding, probing, and collaborative discourse, have a major positive impact on online English class participation and meaning-making, in contrast to directive teaching approaches which have a constraining effect on online interaction.

Abstract

This study explores how gender is represented in English language education promotions on social media, focusing on Instagram content by @kampunginggrislc, a well-known English course provider in Pare, Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) based on Fairclough’s model and Judith Butler’s theory of gender performativity, this research investigates six selected video posts. The findings show that male and female figures are portrayed differently in both verbal and visual elements. Male speakers are often positioned as authoritative and logical, while female speakers are associated with emotional, polite, and aesthetic values. These gendered performances reflect broader cultural expectations in Indonesian society. The study concludes that English language promotional content on social media not only serves educational purposes but also functions as a space where gender ideologies are reproduced and normalized. The research calls for greater awareness in creating inclusive educational media that supports gender equality.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the experiences of English teachers at Situbondo High School in implementing Student-Centered Learning (SCL). The focus covers three things: (1) the extent to which SCL principles are applied, (2) the benefits and challenges experienced by teachers during the implementation process, and (3) teacher strategies to maximize the benefits and overcome these challengesEmploying a sequential explanatory mixed-method design, quantitative data were collected from 33 English teachers through questionnaires, while qualitative data were gathered through classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with six teachers selected based on their implementation levels. The results indicate that the overall implementation of SCL was moderate to high level, reflecting teachers’ growing adaptation to student-centered practices. Among the seven principles, Teacher as Facilitator (M = 3.58) gained the highest scores, while Collaborative Learning (M = 2.99) and Balance of Power (M = 3.01) remained the lowest score but still in the high category. Some benefits were mentioned by teachers, including increased student motivation, confidence, involvement, and teamwork. However, a number of issues surfaced, such as time constraints, inadequate student preparation for independent learning, and a lack of media. To address these problems, teachers used a variety of strategies, including encouraging intrinsic motivation, providing students autonomy, integrating project-based and peer-tutoring activities, and utilizing technology to enhance instruction. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on SCL pedagogy in Asian EFL contexts and provides practical insights into effective strategies for optimizing SCL in secondary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between the use of authentic videos in English language learning and the development of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) among university students. HOTS encompasses critical, creative, and analytical thinking skills, as well as problem-solving abilities. Authentic videos, such as films, news videos, and YouTube videos, are considered to offer real-world context that can aid students in developing these high-level thinking skills. This study employed a quantitative correlational research design to investigate the relationship between the use of authentic videos in English language learning and the development of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) among students.  The data were gathered via a questionnaire assessing students' perceptions of the use of authentic videos in relation to their thinking skills. The findings indicate a positive correlation between authentic video usage and context understanding, as well as an improvement in listening skills. However, YouTube videos, particularly those by non-educational content creators, showed a negative impact on HOTS development, especially in listening comprehension and context understanding. The study also found that gender and academic semester influenced the perception of video usage benefits, with female students and those in higher semesters reporting greater improvements in HOTS. This research highlights the effectiveness of using carefully selected and structured videos to enhance HOTS in English learning. It recommends that educators integrate a variety of relevant, engaging video content that aligns with learning objectives to foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. The study also encourages teachers to regularly evaluate the impact of video content on student engagement and academic progress to refine their teaching practices.

Abstract

Penistaan agama merupakan isu sosial dan hukum yang kompleks, mencerminkan ketegangan antara hak asasi manusia atas kebebasan berekspresi dan kewajiban negara untuk melindungi ketertiban umum serta keyakinan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap tindak pidana penistaan atau penghinaan terhadap lambang agama dalam tuturan yang tersebar di media sosial TikTok. video Aulia (Penutur) Rahman “kampanye Desak Anis Baswedan”. Jenis penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa tuturan dalam video TikTok yang secara implisit maupun eksplisit mengandung muatan yang dianggap melanggar norma agama dan merendahkan lambang agama. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui simak, catat, dan dokumentasi (rekaman video, tangkapan layar, teks transkripsi). Analisis data dilakukan secara bertahap, meliputi identifikasi tuturan relevan, klasifikasi jenis tindak tutur (misalnya pelecehan, penghinaan, ejekan, sindiran), serta analisis semantik-pragmatik untuk menafsirkan maksud dan konteks tuturan tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penghasutan di media sosial TikTok yang mengandung konten penistaan agama dan pencemaran terhadap lambang agama. Hasil dari analisis ini peneliti menemukan Assertif, Ekspresif dan memperkuat unsur kesengajaan atau niat jahat (mens rea) dan memenuhi unsur antara UU ITE dan Penodaan Agama KUHP.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan mendeskripsikan perlawanan tokoh perempuan dalam budaya patriarki masyarakat Madura. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain kualitatif deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah teks tertulis berupa kalimat, ungkapan, dialog maupun perilaku dan perbuatan tokoh serta apa yang dialami perempuan yang terdapat dalam kumpulan cerpen yang berjudul ‘Kembang Selir’. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kumpulan cerpen ‘Kembang Selir’ karya Muna Masyari, yang diterbitkan oleh DIVA Press dengan tebal 130 halaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para tokoh perempuan dalam cerpen menyuarakan hak martabat diri dengan menentang budaya patriarki di Madura sehingga terjadilah perlawanan perempuan. Melalui analisis mendalam terhadap kumpulan cerpen Kembang Selir, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa perlawanan perempuan dalam kumpulan cerpen tersebut berbentuk perlawanan verbal dan perlawanan nonverbal.

Abstract

This study explores the representation of transgenerational trauma in Brown Girl Dreaming (2014) by Jacqueline Woodson through the theoretical lens of postmemory as developed by Marianne Hirsch. Postmemory, originally formulated in the context of Holocaust studies, refers to the affective and symbolic inheritance of trauma by generations who did not directly experience the original events. This research argues that Brown Girl Dreaming, although presented as a poetic memoir of a Black girl's childhood, serves as a complex narrative space in which the legacy of slavery, racial segregation, and structural injustice is mediated and internalized across generations. The study employs a qualitative literary analysis method using close reading as the major tool to identify three key mechanisms of postmemory in the text: familial transmission, embodied memory, and narrative fragmentation. These mechanisms reveal how collective trauma is not only preserved in language and story but also in gestures, silences, and poetic form. Furthermore, this research investigates how Woodson constructs her identity through the internalization of inherited loss and imaginative identification, demonstrating how a post-traumatic subject can move from a position of passive inheritance to active narrative agency. By applying the postmemory framework to an African-American children’s memoir, this research contributes to the growing field of memory studies in the scope of postmemory theory beyond Eurocentric contexts. It also opens new directions for the analysis of Black diasporic and children’s literature. Significantly, the findings demonstrate that children’s literature is not merely a didactic or developmental genre, but a powerful medium through which intergenerational trauma can be reimagined and critically engaged. Brown Girl Dreaming exemplifies how children’s narratives can carry the weight of historical memory while cultivating critical consciousness in both young and adult readers.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah membuka ruang baru bagi generasi muda untuk berekspresi dan berkarya, salah satunya melalui platform menulis daring, seperti Wattpad. Fenomena menarik muncul ketika remaja, yang dikenal sebagai bocil nulis Wattpad, mulai aktif menulis dan mempublikasikan karya fiksi mereka secara terbuka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami fenomena bocil nulis Wattpad sebagai bagian dari kebudayaan dan proses belajar bagi remaja. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan cultural studies melalui metode etnografi digital, penelitian ini melakukan wawancara dengan author dan pembaca Wattpad serta mengemukakan fakta-fakta melalui studi pustaka. Selain itu, teori Representasi (Stuart Hall), Participatory Culture (Henry Jenkins), serta Teori Psikologi Perkembangan (Hurlock) menjadi landasan teoritis penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini: (1) menunjukkan bahwa terdapat cyberbullying dalam fenomena bocil nulis wattpad, (2) memberikan pemahaman tentang faktor psikologis dan sosial yang membentuk minat remaja awal, dan (3) menyoroti bahwa fenomena bocil nulis Wattpad merupakan bentuk eksplorasi dan proses belajar author bocil yang patut diapresiasi.

Abstract

Fenomena pelabelan derogatif terhadap perempuan di media sosial Indonesia, seperti istilah “kaum rahim anget” dan “the nuruls”, menunjukkan bagaimana stereotip gender bekerja sebagai mekanisme reproduksi seksisme dalam ruang digital. Berawal dari respons terhadap perempuan yang dianggap mengseksualisasi figur publik laki-laki, label tersebut mengalami perluasan makna hingga mencakup atribut religius, preferensi budaya populer seperti K-Pop, serta pola konsumsi tertentu. Perluasan tersebut menyebabkan generalisasi berlebihan dan sterotip terhadap perempuan dengan ciri-ciri tersebut. Menggunakan kerangka distinction dari Pierre Bourdieu (1984), penelitian ini menyoroti bagaimana praktik pelabelan ini tidak hanya beroperasi sebagai bentuk kontrol moral, tetapi juga sebagai strategi simbolik untuk menegaskan batas-batas kelas sosial. Selera dan konsumsi misalnya pilihan minuman, makanan, atau fandom diubah menjadi penanda inferioritas yang dilegitimasi oleh kelompok dominan untuk mempertahankan hierarki sosialnya. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan kerangka analisis wacana kritis (AWK) Fairclough (2001) untuk memahami bagaimana praktik kebahasaan bekerja dalam dimensi proses relasi kekuasaan. Dengan demikian, stereotip “the nuruls” tidak hanya mereproduksi seksisme, tetapi juga menciptakan distinctions yang merendahkan perempuan berdasarkan kelas sosial, mode konsumsi dan modal budaya yang mereka miliki. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa pelabelan tersebut berkontribusi pada normalisasi citra negatif perempuan dan mengukuhkan struktur sosial patriarkal yang bekerja melalui media digital.
