Abstract

Precision and good coordination are needed to move small muscles with fine motor abilities. Fine motor abilities are used in actions including cutting, tearing, folding, pasting, and putting together small things. Finger muscles, or fine motor abilities, are needed for this task. Early skill development is necessary to prepare children for their eventual entry into the world of formal education. Children aged 0 to 6 are considered to be in the early childhood period. The development that must be accomplished by the time a child turns 3 years old is already complex. Children need appropriate stimulation starting at that age to promote growth and physical development so that their abilities match the phases of age development. Through arts and crafts, children's fine motor skills can be improved. Activities involving art and crafts can be used to express oneself or as a component of aesthetics and creative expression. Since art and craft activities are tied to the creation of art, which requires strong finger muscles as well as good eye-hand coordination, they are beneficial for promoting the growth of fine motor skills in children.

Abstract

Oyster mushroom farming is a business practice for six SMEs in the Pongangan Gunungpati region. The fact that the production tools still in use are basic presents one of the main challenges to oyster mushroom cultivation. The production scale for fresh oyster mushrooms is still quite limited, and it has not been able to satisfy market demand. Additionally, production standards and good crop management have not been adopted. Among MSME members, production management and marketing management are still conducted independently, so that the circulation of fresh mushroom production and marketing is not optimal. Changes in climate and seasons are difficult to foresee and have a propensity to occur, and the popular perception that mushroom cultivation is difficult and can only be done in the highlands contributes to the low level of interest in mushroom farming. The inability of mushroom farmers to condition the mushroom house in accordance with applicable regulations and the absence of technology capable of maintaining stable temperature and humidity in the mushroom house area. Currently, mushroom growers in the Pongangan subdistrict still utilize a rudimentary irrigation mechanism and manually water their crops each morning and evening. The objective of the performed service activities is to use appropriate technology to condition the air’s temperature and humidity to match the natural circumstances of oyster mushrooms.

Today is an era of change in the use of information and communication technology in all aspects of human life. This adoption has also been accelerated by the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic which has also had an impact on the education sector, including Islamic boarding schools that adopt technology on a more massive basis. Islamic boarding schools are becoming more involved in taking on digital and technological contests. Asatidz as a teacher are required to have skills in the field of learning technology. Creating and designing teaching materials that are interesting and in demand by students is a challenge for asatidz. The solution to this problem is to provide training for asatidz on how to make interesting teaching materials using Microsoft Powerpoint and Canva. This community service was carried out in November 2022 face-to-face with a total of 41 participants who were assistants at the Darussalam Kunir Islamic Boarding School, Subang Regency, West Java. The results of the training showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test conducted by the participants. Abstract

The ability to think highly abbreviated as HOTS is an ability applied in the revised 2013 Curriculum. Teachers are required to be able to make Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-oriented questions, which are questions whose questions can train students to think at a higher level at the level of analysis, evaluation, and creation. The provision of HOTS questions aims to create challenging learning for students to reflect and apply their reasoning. However, the reality in the field based on an interview with the head of the Palu City Chemistry MGMP, there are still many teachers who have not been able to make and compile HOTS questions, especially those who are members of the MGMP. Teachers who are members of the chemistry Subject Teacher Conference (MGMP) as partners of this service still experience problems in analyzing the forms of questions that can improve higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). To overcome this, training and mentoring with participatory models are carried out, which include: 1) analysis and interpretation of Bloom's taxonomy, 2) HOTS-based problem-making techniques, 3) characteristics and forms of HOTS questions, and analyzing question forms that can improve higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). The activity has been carried out well thanks to good cooperation with various parties. This is illustrated by the output in the form of HOTS questions that participants have made from the results of this training and service assistance. The final result of this service is according to the expected target, namely the existence of a book of HOTS questions produced which are used in chemistry learning.

Abstract

Waste is basically materials intentionally or unintentionally discarded as the product of human activities or natural processes. The handling and management of waste are increasingly more complex and complicated as its volume, types, and composition are more and more complex. Optimizing waste management needs an active role of the community to reduce, sort, and recycle the waste. However, the participation of the community in waste management often presents a complex challenge because it involves cultural, social, and economic factors. The community empowerment was conducted in Cileles Village, Jatinangor. Its proximate location to the center of education and economy gives Cileles Village the potential for the development of sustainable waste management. However, up to the present time, waste management in the village still faces some obstacles, such as the lack of infrastructure and the lack of the community’s motivation for sorting their waste. The result of this community service activity indicates that the community has a positive perception of waste and an awareness of waste management. However, the perception has not materialized in the community's daily behavior in managing their waste. For this reason, Socialization models of waste management have been carried out with participation, behavior change, and collaboration models.

Abstract

Lactation / Breastfeeding is a natural process for a woman, but it is vital to prepare in order to achieve the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Indonesian Health Profile (2018) shows that exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Indonesia is 65.16%, falling short of the target of 80%. Only 42% of the 135 million babies born each year are nursed during the first hour of life, 38% exclusively breastfeed for the first six months, and 58% continue to breastfeed until the age of two. The dearth of information among mothers about exclusive breastfeeding and the absence of assistance from medical professionals in this area are two influential factors. Breast milk is a critical source of nutrition and energy for sick people, and it improves infant development, lowers morbidity and mortality, and lowers the risk of chronic diseases. Breastfeeding also improves the health and happiness of mothers, lowers the incidence of ovarian and breast cancer, and conserves resources for both families and the country (WHO, 2021). The method used in this activity is to educate pregnant women and their families on the value of getting ready for lactation during pregnancy. Following counseling, there was an increase in knowledge about pregnancy-related lactation preparation.

Abstract

Every student who has entered the final study period must complete the final project/thesis as a graduation requirement. In order to produce quality and responsible writing, students must have the provision of knowledge and how to find, find and determine the correct references and write good citations to avoid plagiarism in thesis writing. The Mendeley application can assist in managing reference sources and writing citations, which can synchronize with the references menu in Microsoft Word. So the PKM team of the Mandarin Language Education Study Program, FKIP UNTAN, provided training on using the Mendeley Application to 20 semester VII students taking thesis writing. Based on the results of the training activities, it can see that 95% of the students who attended the training were able to master the Mendeley application. The obstacle faced in this training was the problem of student laptop devices still using a low version of the Windows operating system, resulting in students needing help installing the Mendeley application. However, this obstacle can be handled thanks to the direction and guidance of the lecturer in the PKM Team. The Mendeley application is relatively easy to learn, understand, and operate, so students will use the Mendeley application as support in completing their final project/thesis.
