Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in strengthening Indonesia’s economy, as nearly 99% of all business entities originate from this sector. In terms of contribution, MSMEs account for 60.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provide 96.9% of employment opportunities nationwide. Despite their significant role, this sector continues to face challenges in business management. Similar conditions are experienced by Ega Sari Home Industry, which encounters three key issues: organizational governance, resource management, and marketing strategy. To address these challenges, the IBIK Community Service Team designed several solution programs, including: 1) training and mentoring in the formulation of organizational management policies, 2) simulation and guidance in preparing financial reports using Excel, 3) entrepreneurship training and marketing strategy development, and 4) marketing assistance through technology-based practices such as product label design, packaging improvement, and social media optimization. These programs were implemented through a community service method that involved mentoring from production processes to marketing assistance. This initiative is expected to raise MSME awareness in product innovation, packaging, and digital marketing, thereby enhancing competitiveness.

Abstract

SMA Cenderawasih II in South Tangerang faces dual challenges, including students’ low understanding of nutrition and the economic limitations of their families. The Community Service Team from the Graduate School (SPS) of Universitas Terbuka (UT) took the initiative to implement a collaborative learning model called "Young Lelepreneur." This model was specifically designed by integrating catfish farming curriculum into school activities in close coordination with SMA Cenderawasih II. The community service program at SMA Cenderawasih II, South Tangerang, successfully enhanced students’ knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial character through practice-based catfish farming activities (learning by doing). Through a series of preparation, technical training, and implementation stages, students not only gained a theoretical understanding of basic biology and fishery management but also applied it directly in the field from pond construction and feed management to water quality control. This activity strengthened the synergy between the school, the community service team, and the students in realizing contextual and applicable learning. Monitoring and evaluation results indicate that this program has the potential to become a practice-based learning model that can be integrated into entrepreneurship and applied biology curricula. Furthermore, the development plan of the "Young Lelepreneur" program serves as a strategic step toward creating an educational ecosystem focused on innovation, economic independence, and school community empowerment.

Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, which affects the skin, peripheral nerves, upper respiratory tract and eyes. According to the Ministry of Health report, in 2022 the prevalence of leprosy in Indonesia increased to 0.55 per 10,000 population. This rise in cases was influenced by various factors that contributed to the higher incidence rate across the country, Indonesia. Purpose of study: The aim of this study was to determine the association of the physical environment of the house, individual characteristics, and personal hygiene with the incidence of leprosy. Method: The method employed in this study is a literature review, with references derived from research articles published in scientific journals within the period of 2019 to 2024. Results:. As a result of the literature search, ten journals were selected based on the established inclusion criteria. While case-control designs dominated the research methodologies, a few studies employed cross-sectional approaches. The outcomes reflected certain consistencies as well as differences; nonetheless, every study documented occurrences of leprosy. Conculsion: Based on the results of the review of 10 journal articles, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between physical home environment factors, knowledge, attitudes and personal hygiene with the incidence of leprosy.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a persistent health problem among rural adolescents in Indonesia, generally influenced by low health literacy and limited access to preventive education. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of an interactive, peer-based educational intervention in improving knowledge and preventive behaviors related to ARI among adolescents in Benjor Village, Malang Regency. A pre-post quasi-experimental research design was used in this study, involving 32 adolescents who were trained to deliver health education through gamified trivia sessions, animated digital media, and participatory discussions. Knowledge assessments were conducted before and after the intervention to measure learning outcomes. The results showed a significant improvement, with an average post-test score increasing by 60% compared to the pre-test score. Participants demonstrated a better understanding of ARI symptoms, transmission routes, and prevention strategies. Furthermore, the peer-based approach was shown to encourage higher engagement, trust, and message retention. These findings suggest that the combination of interactive media and peer education is an effective strategy in improving health literacy and prevention among adolescents. This model offers a scalable and context-sensitive promotive approach to improving health in rural communities with limited resources.

Abstract

Food security remains a critical challenge in Indonesia, where population growth, land conversion, and environmental degradation threaten sustainable food systems. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), as influential educational and community-based institutions, hold significant potential to contribute to food security through integrated education and practice. By embedding food security concepts into curricula and daily routines, pesantren can cultivate a holistic model that unites faith, knowledge, and sustainability. This study emphasizes the role of santri in developing practical competencies through hydroponics, aquaponics, biopore infiltration systems, organic waste utilization, and sustainable cultivation. These practices not only ensure the availability of nutritious food for students but also foster ecological awareness, technical skills, and entrepreneurial capacity. The methodology includes the development of structured learning modules, hands-on training, teacher capacity building, and institutional integration, supported by monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure sustainability. A notable example is Pesantren Tahfiz Al-Qur’an Ibnu Jauzi, Dramaga, Bogor, which demonstrates the potential to combine religious education with innovative food security initiatives. In the long term, pesantren-based programs strengthen institutional self-sufficiency, reduce dependency on external supplies, and empower surrounding communities, positioning pesantren as strategic actors in advancing national food sovereignty and sustainable development.

Abstract

The skincare sector in Indonesia has undergone swift expansion, leading to heightened rivalry. In digital marketing, product photography serves as a crucial visual representation that profoundly affects consumer perception and purchase choices. This project seeks to provide effective and uniform graphic assets for product photography to enhance the advertising of the Mirelle 3 Brightening Kit on digital channels. The design thinking technique was utilized, consisting of five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The result of this project is a collection of high-key minimalist product shots that exude a clean, elegant, and professional appearance. This visual concept was intentionally selected to emphasize product distinctiveness, uphold brand identity consistency, and guarantee adaptability across diverse promotional mediums. The conclusion derived from this production process is that a user-centered strategy, informed by contemporary visual trends, may produce assets that boost visual appeal and bolster brand competitiveness in the digital marketplace. The final outputs have been implemented on the Shopee e-commerce platform and the brand's Instagram account.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the increasing gadget addiction among early childhood children in Indonesia, with 88.99% using the internet—mainly for social media (66.13%) and entertainment (63.08%). This critical period, known as the golden age of development, requires strong parental guidance, yet many parents lack awareness of how to manage their children’s cellphone use effectively. The program, titled Parenting Assistance and Digital Literacy for Young Mothers in Preventing the Risk of Internet Media through Controlling Violence in Children, aimed to enhance young mothers’ competence in supervising and controlling their children’s internet use to mitigate its negative effects. Conducted at the Nurul Albarokah Foundation, PAUD Albarokah, Parung, Bogor Regency, this activity had several objectives: (1) to provide parenting guidance through seminars and training, (2) to improve digital literacy among young mothers, (3) to train them in using the Google Family Link feature for gadget control, (4) to prevent internet addiction and its adverse effects on children’s growth, intelligence, and morals, and (5) to develop intelligent and resilient mothers. The increasing exposure of children to the internet highlights the urgent need for parental supervision to prevent potential harms such as cyberbullying, violent behavior, and access to inappropriate content.

Abstract

Good communication skills are a key factor in ensuring excellent service in the hospitality industry. In the context of international tourism, foreign language proficiency is essential, given that guests are not limited to domestic visitors. Effective communication with foreign guests, particularly those from Japan, is a crucial concern. In reality, many hotel staff still struggle to interact with Japanese guests due to limited Japanese language proficiency, while English is often ineffective due to pronunciation differences. Given these conditions, the Japanese Language Study Program at Universitas Widyatama conducted a community service activity in the form of basic Japanese language training for hotel staff. This training focused on vocabulary and formal sentences relevant to the hospitality industry. In addition to improving employee communication skills, this activity also aimed to make an academic contribution to improving the quality of the tourism workforce and serving as a concrete manifestation of the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education).
