Abstract

The transition to junior high school is a critical period for students, often accompanied by challenges in adaptation and learning. This study investigates the influence of the Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS), a school orientation program, on the adaptation process and learning abilities of seventh-grade students at SMP Methodist Pematangsiantar, North Sumatera, Indonesia. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected from 144 students across six classes during the MPLS held from July 14 to 16, 2025. The study analyzed three phases of the program: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Findings indicate that the preparation phase effectively reduced student anxiety by clarifying expectations. The implementation phase facilitated social integration, familiarization with school culture, and student engagement through interactive activities. Finally, the evaluation phase showed improvements in students’ confidence, motivation, and overall adaptation to the new environment. These results suggest that MPLS significantly supports students in navigating the challenges of school transition, positively impacting their readiness to learn and participate. The study highlights the importance of structured orientation programs in promoting emotional, social, and academic adjustment in early adolescence. Recommendations include enhancing future MPLS programs by incorporating more academic exposure and peer collaboration opportunities to further strengthen student outcomes during school transitions.

Abstract

Inside correctional institutions, drug inmates face not only the challenge of confinement but also the struggle to control their emotions and overcome the inner chaos caused by addiction. Each group of inmates, whether addicts, dealers, or users, shows unique emotional characteristics that require a specific and targeted approach in their rehabilitation process. This study aims to explore effective emotion regulation techniques to address different patterns of mood disorders among drug inmates at the Class IIA Pematang Siantar Narcotics Correctional Institution. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and analysis of personality development program documents. The results showed that addicts experienced intense emotional fluctuations, dealers tended to display aggressive and manipulative behaviors, while users often suffered from depression and anxiety. The integration of emotion regulation techniques based on the model of James J. Gross into personality development programs proved effective in improving emotional stability and reducing symptoms of mood disorders. The study highlights that well-structured emotional regulation interventions can significantly enhance rehabilitation outcomes and lower the possibility of relapse among narcotics inmates, creating a more humane and sustainable correctional environment.

Abstract

Patient safety stands as a vital benchmark of healthcare quality, yet reporting incidents remains a challenge influenced by multiple human and organizational factors. This study explores the elements that shape nurses’ performance in reporting patient safety incidents at Permata Hati Duri Hospital in 2025. Using a quantitative analytical observational approach with a cross-sectional design, the research involved 85 inpatient nurses. Data were analyzed through univariate, bivariate (Fisher’s Exact test), and multivariate (logistic regression) techniques. Most participants were young adults aged 20–30 years (32.9%), predominantly female (91.8%), highly educated (84.7% D4/S1/Nursing), and experienced (80.0% with 6–>10 years). Findings revealed that most nurses demonstrated strong perceptions, positive attitudes, high motivation, and favorable views of leadership. Although bivariate analysis showed no significant association between independent variables and incident reporting, multivariate results indicated that work experience played the most dominant role (OR = 3.821; 95% CI = 0.010–1.025). The study concludes that enhancing reporting behavior requires consistent training, improved digital systems, and a reinforced culture of safety across all levels of hospital practice.

Abstract

This community service program (PKM) primarily aims to improve the economic welfare of the Purbaya Tani Mandiri (PTM) Farmer Group in Purwabakti Village, Bogor. The group, consisting of 40 members and managing 17.93 hectares of land, faces a crucial problem: the low selling price of organic rice (equivalent to non-organic) due to the lack of official certification and limitations in digital marketing. The program offers an integrated solution through education on securing product legality (Organic Certification and P-IRT/Home Industry Food Permit) and digital marketing training, which includes brand development, visual content, and the use of leading e-commerce platforms (Shopee and Tokopedia). The method used is a participatory approach with five stages: preparation, bureaucratic education, program execution, partner participation, and evaluation. The targeted outcomes of the program are an increase in product selling value, expansion of market reach to a national scale, and a significant improvement in farmer income.

Abstract

Indonesia, as one of the world's four coffee suppliers, has the potential to develop coffee cultivation and processing technology, given the still-open market. The slopes of Mount Wilis in Kediri Regency boast 45 hectares of coffee plantations that are still under development and do not yet produce sufficient quantities of coffee. Coffee farmers still live in poverty due to the relatively low selling price and also low production capacity. This community service effort focuses on adding value to Wilis Arabica coffee, creating the Wilis Arabica Drip product. This product can increase its selling price by up to 300% over its original price. roasted beanswithout special packaging. The active involvement of participants (farmer group members) in the training, enabling them to gain hands-on experience rather than simply listening to material, has a positive impact on their motivation to add value to the harvested coffee, turning it into high-value packaged coffee products.

Abstract

Improving patient safety through proper drug management is particularly difficult for the elderly and people with chronic conditions. Due to low levels of health literacy and lack of access to health technology, numerous individuals in Palasari Village, Cibiru District still struggle to adhere to prescription schedules. As a technical solution to aid in appropriate medication administration, this community service research proposes an IoT-based smart medicine box. A community needs analysis, a prototype built on an ESP32 microcontroller, a dose detection sensor, and a notification system using a mobile app were all part of the implementation technique. Residents also participated in training and mentorship sessions. The trial included 27 participants who were evaluated using a Likert scale that measured their level of interest, comprehension, simplicity of use, and effectiveness with respect to the gadget. With an average score of 4.37 out of 5 (87.3%), the results demonstrated a high degree of acceptability, especially when it came to comprehending the gadget, the efficacy of medicine reminders, and the possibility of lowering the risk of medication mistakes. At the community level, this effort proves that basic technology based on the Internet of Things may enhance health literacy, patient safety, and medication adherence.

Abstract

Margahayu Housing, located in Bekasi City, is one of the flood-prone residential areas that frequently experiences inundation during the rainy season, disrupting residents’ daily activities. This study aims to determine the design flood discharge and redesign the drainage channel dimensions to accommodate runoff effectively. The research was conducted through several stages involving primary and secondary data collection, hydrological and hydraulic analyses, and hydraulic modeling using the HEC-RAS software. The hydrological analysis applied the Log Pearson Type III method to determine rainfall distribution, while the Rational Method was used to calculate the design flood discharge based on rainfall data from three stations: Halim, Teluk Pucung, and Bendung Cikarang. The calculated design discharge values were: S1 = 0.376 m³/s, S2 = 1.147 m³/s, S3 = 1.124 m³/s, S4 = 0.273 m³/s, S5 = 0.430 m³/s, and S6 = 0.336 m³/s. The comparison between the existing flow capacity (Qcap) and the design discharge (Qs) indicated that several drainage channels were inadequate to accommodate flood flow. Therefore, a redesign was performed by enlarging the channel cross-sections. The proposed new dimensions for channels S1, S2, S3, and S6 are 1.4 meters in height and 1.2 meters in base width. Validation through HEC-RAS modeling confirmed that the redesigned channels can safely convey the design flood discharge. This study demonstrates that appropriate hydrological and hydraulic modeling plays a crucial role in effective flood mitigation planning for urban drainage systems.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive workplace even in areas like hospital archives. The archives room at Balaraja Regional General Hospital stores vital medical records and is exposed to physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards. This study explores how OSH is implemented in this environment, focusing on five key indicators: hazard recognition and risk control, ergonomic practices, routine health checks, management of facilities and infrastructure, and emergency preparedness. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method, data were gathered through observations and interviews with the hospital’s OSH team leader and six archive officers. Findings show that many safety measures are well applied, including regular cleaning to control dust, OSH training sessions, use of personal protective equipment, and annual health checks in line with regulations. However, gaps remain, such as inadequate lighting, non-ergonomic chairs, and absence of a first aid kit. In conclusion, while OSH implementation meets several standards, improvements in hazard management, facilities, and ergonomics are necessary to create a safer, more comfortable workspace that supports archivists’ efficiency and well-being.
