Abstract

This research is based on the phenomenon of students' lack of vocabulary in the language learning process. Therefore, the author examined the process of vocabulary acquisition using songs and movements to provide new insights into learning vocabulary. The purpose of this study is to determine whether songs and movements are effective in developing students' vocabulary and to understand students' perceptions of vocabulary learning using these methods. In collecting data, the author employed classroom action research (CAR), administered pre-tests and post-tests, and conducted interviews. The participants consisted of 24 seventh-grade students at SMP Al Hikmah Jember. The results of the study showed progress in vocabulary learning through songs and movements, evidenced by the average pre-test score (62.03) and post-test score (75.39). The majority of students responded positively to vocabulary learning through songs and movements. This method helps students easily memorize words and creates a comfortable learning environment. However, some students prefer learning by writing down and memorizing words.

Abstract

The moral crisis among the younger generation, such as a lack of caring, social ethics, as well as dishonest and undisciplined attitudes, shows the need for stronger character education. One of the efforts made is through Scout education, which aims to shape students' character through the application of Dasa Darma as a guide to life. This research aims to analyze the character values in Dasa Darma which are implemented at SDN Sawojajar 4, Malang City, as well as the impact of implementing a reward system in increasing students' motivation to apply these values in everyday life. The methods used include observation, interviews and documentation, with a descriptive qualitative approach. The research results show that Dasa Darma is effective in instilling positive moral values such as honesty, mutual cooperation, discipline and responsibility in students. The reward system has been proven to be able to motivate students to behave positively in accordance with the values of Dasa Darma. These results support social learning theory which states that individuals tend to learn through observation and imitation of models. In conclusion, the application of Dasa Darma through Scout activities has a significant impact on the formation of students' character, thereby helping to overcome the moral crisis of the younger generation and preparing them as individuals who are useful for society and the nation.

Abstract

The elementary social studies course at PGSD STKIP Al Hikmah Surabaya uses a textbook containing concepts and theories written by the lecturer. Textbook does not contain material that can facilitate students to practice in the school so that students' 21st century skills are weak. Based on the results of measuring students' 21st century skills consisting of aspects of communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, 75% of students have not yet completed it, while the remaining 25% have completed it. To solve this problem, a solution is needed in the form of developing elementary school social studies textbooks based on partner collaboration to improve students' 21st century skills. The aim of this research is to produce a collaboration-based elementary social studies textbook to improve the 21st century skills of PGSD students that is valid, reliable, and practical. In this research, the Research and Development (RnD) method was used involving 30 PGSD students at STKIP Al Hikmah as research subjects. The data collection methods used consisted of interviews, questionnaires, observation and expert review. The 4D Model used in this RnD research consists of four stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research produces an elementary school social studies textbook that is valid, reliable and practical. These results are shown from expert assessments, readability tests, and trials that obtained high scores.

Abstract

AutoCAD drawing skills are essential competencies for students in the Building Modeling and Information Design (DPIB) program. However, conventional teacher-centered instruction limits students’ active participation, resulting in less optimal practical skills. This study aimed to compare the AutoCAD drawing skills of students who learned through Project-Based Learning (PjBL) assisted by video tutorials and those who learned through Direct Instruction, as well as to describe students’ responses to the learning process. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The participants consisted of 36 students in the experimental group and 39 students in the control group. Data were collected through performance assessments and student response questionnaires and analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests and the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.001). In addition, students showed positive responses to the learning process, with a response percentage of 85.22%. These findings indicate that students who learned through Project-Based Learning assisted by video tutorials achieved better AutoCAD drawing skills than those who learned through Direct Instruction. The study also suggests that this instructional approach has the potential to support the development of positive learning behaviors, particularly independence, responsibility, discipline, and carefulness.
