Abstract

Lamundre Village is one of the villages located in Watubangga District, Kolaka Regency which has promising marine natural resource potential, both in the form of aquaculture and capture fisheries. Various types of fish catch produced by the Lamundre Village Community include skipjack fish 30 tons/year and lure fish 70 tons/year. The catch is only dried and sold raw to the market. However, this potential can still be increased to increase the income of the Lamundre Village Community and increase the diversity of fishery products from the village. The Lamundre Village Independent Fishermen's Women's Group is a partner that operates in the fish processing sector. The main problem with partners is the low level of knowledge and skills of group members in processing fishery products. Therefore, it is very necessary to provide training and assistance to partners in processing fishery products. The fish processing products carried out are making fish balls and fish floss. Fish balls and fish floss are one of the fish processing activities that can increase the added value and shelf life of fish. The aim of this community service activity is to improve the skills and knowledge of the Independent Women Fishermen Group partners in processing fish independently into a product, namely fish balls and fish floss. This community service activity will be carried out in September 2024 in Lamundre Village, Watubangga District, Kolaka Regency. The activity method is carried out at several stages including the observation stage, preparation stage, training and mentoring stage, and evaluation stage. The result of this community service activity is an increase in partners' skills and knowledge in making fish balls and fish floss. Based on the results of the interview, the partner's skill level became 85% and the knowledge level increased 100% after the training. Partners are able to make fish balls and fish floss according to the materials provided. The fish balls and fish floss produced in this training activity do not smell or fishy, this is because the process of making fish balls and fish floss complies with the quality standards for making fish balls and fish floss (SNI 7690.2013). This community service activity is able to improve the skills and knowledge of partners in making fish balls and fish floss.

Abstract

Waste management systems like TPS3R are critical for reducing, utilizing, and managing trash at its source. However, the TPS3R presence in Telukjambe Village has not been perceived as effective in conducting waste management as required. One major issue with the TPS3R's insufficient waste management is the unsegregated waste entering the facility, which is caused by the nearby locals' lack of understanding about domestic waste sorting. Therefore, it is imperative to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing knowledge and concern about waste separation among the people surrounding the TPS3R in Telukjambe Village. We implement educational campaigns on waste separation through door-to-door outreach, where representatives visit residents' homes to provide technical information on home-based waste sorting using diverse educational media. Furthermore, to improve understanding of waste sorting and TPS3R management, we conducted socialization by inviting speakers to deliver the information in an engaging and participatory manner. The evaluation results indicate that around 82.4% of respondents, specifically those living there, answered the waste sorting questions accurately. The locals possess a solid comprehension of garbage sorting, providing a robust platform for increased participation in household waste segregation. Furthermore, the local government's role in establishing legislation for household trash segregation and TPS3R management can guarantee the sustainability of current initiatives, ensuring their continued implementation.

Abstract

Corn cob waste is a residue of agricultural production that has the potential as an alternative animal feed, but the waste has not been maximally utilized by farmers who are members of the Gema Bakti Raya Farmer Group. Corn cobs, which have been discarded or burned after shelling, have great potential that has not been utilized by farmer groups, which can cause environmental problems and accumulation of waste if left unattended. On the other hand, during the dry season there is a scarcity of animal feed and corn cobs can be an effective solution by utilizing appropriate technology as an alternative to ruminant feed with the fermentation method. The purpose of this PKM is to motivate and increase community awareness of corn waste handling and increase partners' knowledge and skills in utilizing corn cobs as an alternative animal feed. The several stages of this activity include: socialization, counseling and training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation and sustainability.  The results of the service implementation show that the transfer of knowledge, skills and technology, especially appropriate technology (TGG) to partner groups has increased partner knowledge by 50% and increased partner skills by 60%.   The PKM program can empower partner groups to access their potential.  This is expected to provide economic and environmentally friendly added value and have an impact on increasing income and sustainability of corn farming.

Abstract

Malang Regency is known as one of the coffee agro-industry centers in East Java, where most of the coffee bean production in this area is produced by small-scale farmers. One of them is a coffee farmer community in the Kucur Village who belongs to the Republik Tani Mandiri (RTM) farmer group. The farmers' lands in Kucur Village are located on the slopes of Mount Kawi, at an altitude of 850-1,000 mdpl. The climate and fertile soil conditions in the area meet the requirements for coffee cultivation, especially for the Arabica type. The challenge of coffee development in Kucur Village lies in the fact that the produced coffee beans product (green beans) has not yet met high quality standards, necessitating the improvement of post-harvest processing techniques or further processing the beans into ground coffee to achieve a higher added value. This community service program aims to provide training and mentoring on standard post-harvest coffee bean processing techniques. The program was conducted in a participatory manner, beginning with the alignment of common goals and expectations with our farmer group counterpart. Then we continued with training on sorting, fermentation, drying, and storage techniques, which includes practical exercises. The farmer group counterparts' processing unit serves as the location for the training. The next stage is to provide assistance and evaluate the results of the training through testing the quality and taste of the Arabica coffee beans produced. There were four samples tested, each representing a different processing technique. Based on the results of the coffee bean quality test, all samples were met the criteria of Grade 1, or premium beans. Meanwhile, the cupping test results showed that all samples are scored above 80 points, indicating their classification as specialty coffee. These results suggest that the coffee beans has the potential to be developed as single origin coffee products, in the effort to enhance the economic value and welfare of the RTM coffee farmers.

Abstract

Forest and land fires (karhutla) are a serious threat to the stability of domestic security, especially in vulnerable areas such as South Kalimantan. Handling forest and land fires requires strong synergy between the TNI, Police, and Local Government to prevent wider impacts on the environment, economy, and public health. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the synergy between the TNI, Polri, and Local Government in efforts to prevent forest and land fires and their contribution to the creation of domestic security stability. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative, by examining the strategies, as well as operational actions carried out by the three institutions. The results show that the synergy between the TNI, Polri and local government is very important in creating an early detection system, counseling to the community, and rapid response to fires. In addition, the success of forest and land fire prevention also depends on the quality and quantity of human resources, adequate infrastructure and budget. Within this framework, effective cooperation can improve disaster preparedness and mitigation, thereby preventing disruptions to security stability. Thus, integrated synergy between the TNI, Polri and local governments is not only important in forest and land fire prevention efforts, but also as an important pillar in maintaining sustainable domestic security stability. This research recommends increasing the capacity of human resources, modernizing infrastructure, and optimizing budget allocations as supporting factors for the successful implementation of synergy in handling forest and land fires.

Abstract

The cultivation of vegetable crops carried out by the community in the Transmigration Settlement Unit (UPT) Palu Valley, Central Sulawesi has been going on for a long time, but has not been able to increase their income and welfare, due to various problems faced such as: low productivity of farming which is produced because it is cultivated on dryland, pest and plant disease attacks, difficulty in obtaining inorganic fertilizers and pesticides needed during farming, and group member participation in farmer group meetings to discuss various matters of common interest within the farmer group is very low.  The solution offered is to implement pest and disease control technology, organic fertilizer development technology and assistance in improving farmer group management. Community Partnership Empowerment aims to assist partner farmer groups in providing biorational pesticides made from local resources and improve management of farmer groups so that they can play an optimal role in helping farmer group members in various activities with local government. This community empowerment program was implemented at UPT Bulupountu Jaya, Sigi Biromaru District, Sulawsesi Tengah, from July to September 2024, by implementing community assistance methods to increase the knowledge and skills of participants as one of the efforts to empower partners. Implementation of training in the manufacture and development of biorational pesticides in the "Tani Mandiri" group can be adopted by participants because the method of manufacture is simple and easy to do. There are 3 types of plants that are made into botanical insecticides, namely vitex (Vitex negundo L), biduri (Callotropis gigantea L.) and kirinyuh (Cromolaena odorata L), while the biofungicide being developed is liquid trichoderma, as well as biological fertilizer made in the form of PGPR. The technology application demonstration plot shows that biorational pesticide application can reduce the intensity of pest and disease attacks on vegetable crops. The use of plant extracts as botanical insecticides and trichoderma biofungicides can reduce the intensity of pest and disease attacks on vegetable crops, so they can be used as an alternative to synthetic chemical pesticides.

Abstract

In contrast to the 1998 crisis where MSMEs did not experience any shocks, MSMEs during the Covid pandemic experienced very strong shocks. However, MSMEs managed to recover quickly, especially those that integrated their marketing into digital platforms. As part of efforts to accelerate the digitalization of MSMEs, Mulawarman University through the Kedaireka program provides assistance to MSMEs in Samarinda where one of the targets is home culinary MSMEs.  Assistance aims to 1) increase product promotion through business branding, 2) develop products, and 3) register MSMEs on digital platforms. Mentoring methods are carried out personally and collectively. Collectively, MSME players were given training regarding product promotion via digital platforms by resource persons from the Kedaireka Program management. Collective mentoring is followed up with a personal approach by students participating in the Kedaireka program. Personal assistance is carried out face to face by visiting MSME actors for around one month.  The results of the assistance show that the obstacle faced by MSME actors in carrying out product development is the availability of raw materials where fishery raw materials are seasonal. Product promotion efforts carried out through product branding which was carried out by re-creating the business logo were successfully carried out without significant obstacles. Meanwhile, increasing marketing through digital platforms has not been successful due to the limitations of MSME actors in understanding the features and steps for updating product images as well as limitations in producing quality product images or photos. Efforts to accelerate the integration of marketing of fishery products require two conditions, namely product and promotion. In the product aspect, guaranteed availability of fishery products is very necessary for marketing sustainability and customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, in the promotional aspect, the quality of the images uploaded to the digital platform must be eye catching.
