Abstract

Increasing the skills of the group of entrepreneurial mothers at the Pemaron Asri Housing Complex, Pemaron Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province was carried out through a science and technology implementation program. This activity is focused on improving the skills of mothers who are just starting a home business, but are hampered in the areas of knowledge and skills in making local processed fruit products that are available, but not yet widely used by the community. The training on diversification of processed strawberries aims to improve the skills of entrepreneurial mothers in making a variety of processed products from strawberries. Through the method of carrying out activities, namely the lecture method (presentation) and practice in making diversified strawberry syrup, it is hoped that it can provide added value (added value) to strawberries both in terms of type variants, taste, nutrition and packaging methods for strawberry syrup. This training places more emphasis on participant responsibility and is able to provide ongoing training and assistance in managing business activities for processed strawberry products. The results of activities from the science and technology application program in Pemaron village targeting the group of entrepreneurial mothers were an increase in the skills of group members in processing strawberries into strawberry syrup products. Apart from that, their knowledge regarding techniques for making strawberry syrup also deepens regarding the correct processing process and their skills in determining product packaging designs that attract the target market.

Abstract

Sidomulyo Village, Silo District, is one of the villages whose residents mostly work as farmers in Jember Regency. The obstacle faced by the community is that the garden products obtained by farmers have relatively low and moderate selling prices. An alternative solution that can be taken to overcome these obstacles is to provide education and assistance in processing farmers' garden products. The aim of this program is to provide education to the people of Sidomulyo Village through POKDARWIS and provide assistance in processing food and drinks from the gardens of Sidomulyo Village residents. The methods used are program preparation, outreach and training, product creation, utilization, monitoring and evaluation. The result of this program is a processing and marketing group that has the potential to produce food and beverages or increase the selling value of products so that people can produce processed food and beverage products that have high economic value to improve the community's economy. And it can be used as a typical food from Sidomulyo Village.

Abstract

With the increasing number of SMEs, business competition among SMEs is intensifying, requiring business owners to develop targeted strategies to survive. Business strategies can be formulated by first analyzing a business's potential and weaknesses, then leveraging the potential and addressing the weaknesses. SMEs in South Tangerang face issues such as a lack of knowledge regarding strategic business analysis and an understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities. This has resulted in a decrease in monthly revenue for these SMEs. One solution to address these issues among SMEs in South Tangerang is a community service initiative conducted by lecturers and students from the Institut Teknologi Indonesia. This initiative involves training SMEs in strategy formulation using SWOT analysis. SMEs are educated on what SWOT analysis is and guided in identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in their businesses. After conducting a SWOT analysis, targeted strategies can be formulated by each SME. From the community's perspective, this activity results in increased knowledge among SME owners in analyzing their business's strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities using the SWOT approach. From an academic perspective, this activity benefits lecturers and students by providing a learning platform and potential research opportunities through case studies of problems faced by SMEs in South Tangerang. As a result of the SWOT analysis training, 90 SMEs in South Tangerang have participated in the training to develop business strategies based on the SWOT approach. With the implementation of these strategies, it is hoped that SMEs will achieve their best business potential and experience an increase in revenue.

Abstract

Community service activities were carried out at the Sugih Hati Farmers Group which develops various seasonal horticultural crops (i.e. chili, tomato, watermelon and melon) on Vertisols land in Kawo Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok. This activity aims to popularize appropriate technology in the form of biochar-based organic fertilizers to increase soil fertility and horticultural crop productivity. The use of biochar in this agricultural land is an alternative solution to improve soil quality, namely by increasing the organic matter content of the soil, water and nutrient efficiency, and reducing soil acidity due to the use of high-analysis inorganic fertilizers. Dissemination activities have been carried out using participatory methods by involving members of the farmer groups and agricultural entrepreneurs in focused discussion activities. The results of the dissemination process reported that farmers played an active role in expressing various problems and challenges faced in farming, namely land management problems, especially fertilizer management, management of planting systems/cropping patterns and control of plant pests and diseases. Thus, they agreed to utilize biochar in the planting system. The discussion also discussed the phenomenon of climate change as one of the obstacles to horticultural crop cultivation, especially drought. Farmers are very enthusiastic in understanding the business prospects of horticultural crops, especially to meet the demand of hotels, restaurants and other tourism activities particularly in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (MSEZ), well known as KEK Mandalika.

Abstract

This Community Service was conducted at the Women's Farming Group (KWT) called Nandur Sedekah (NS) Gunungpati in Semarang City, Central Java. This group has gardening activities on empty land in the middle of settlements. The focus of their activities so far has been growing vegetables to support the needs of the members. Their activities have continued to develop until now, but along the way they have faced priority problems relating to production matters, governance matters, and sales matters. This service aims to provide solutions to the problems KWT is facing. The solution provided is in the form of building a Solar Hydroponic Greenhouse and Business Management and Digital Marketing Training. This service activity uses a process approach.  The process is; 1) Identifying problems by observing and interviewing KWT, 2) FGD determining priority problems, 3) Designing & developing a powered Hydroponic Greenhouse, and 4) Business Management and Digital Marketing Training. The results received by this group of service partners were the first to build a Solar Hydroponic Greenhouse. This building has the advantage of plastic material which is better at blocking sunlight, the capacity for planting vegetables in hydroponic pipes reaches 499 holes. Then, controlling the temperature, humidity, and watering time can be done via a web-based remote system automation. For the soft-skill aspect, it can be said that the management and several group cadre members also gained increased knowledge. The basic knowledge they receive is about business management and the application of digital marketing. Proof of changes in knowledge is carried out by comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test during training. More than 80% of training participants have experienced increased understanding. This PKM has overcome the KWT NS problem. The Solutions were taken through Solar Hydroponic Greenhouses and Business Management and Digital Marketing Training.
