Abstract

Introduction: Chronic diseases pose significant challenges for individuals, including reduced life expectancy, increased economic burden, and heightened risk of psychological distress such as depression and anxiety. The interplay between chronic illness and negative emotions is bidirectional, where emotional distress can exacerbate physical symptoms through inflammatory processes, while the illness itself can contribute to emotional dysregulation. Emotion dysregulation is a major factor influencing stress responses, self-management adherence, and overall well-being in individuals with chronic diseases. Given this, interventions aimed at improving emotion regulation are essential to help patients manage their condition more effectively.Aim: This study aims to examine the effect of emotion regulation training therapy on improving the emotion regulation ability of individuals with chronic diseases. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 50 participants were recruited using purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of four emotion regulation training sessions conducted over two weeks. Data were collected using the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and analyzed using a paired t-test to determine the effect of the intervention on emotion regulation levels. Results: The findings revealed a significant improvement in emotion regulation ability after the intervention, with a mean difference of 7.980 ± 3.605 (p-value = 0.000) based on the paired t-test analysis. This indicates that the emotion regulation training had a substantial impact on enhancing participants' ability to manage their emotions. Conclusion: Emotion regulation training significantly improves emotion regulation levels in patients with chronic diseases. These findings highlight the importance of integrating psychological interventions into chronic disease management to enhance patients' emotional well-being and self-management abilities. Future studies should explore the long-term effects and sustainability of emotion regulation training in diverse patient populations.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe and chronic mental disorder that requires long-term antipsychotic therapy. However, the use of these medications is often accompanied by drug-related problems (DRPs), which affect the effectiveness of treatment and increase the risk of health complications. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the relationship between DRPs and therapy outcomes in schizophrenia patients at Syamrabu Bangkalan Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional design with a retrospective method was used in this study. The sample was selected through purposive sampling from patients diagnosed with mental disorders who were using antipsychotic drugs. The PANSS scores and the frequency of extrapyramidal events were assessed to evaluate therapy outcomes. The data analysis was conducted using statistical correlation tests. Results: Among the 110 patients studied, 200 cases of DRPs were found, with drug interactions being the most common (42.5%). Correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between the number of drugs consumed and the number of DRPs (p=0.000, r=0.352). However, no significant association was found between the number of DRPs and patient therapeutic outcomes (p=0.340, r=-0.076). Combining atypical and typical antipsychotics proved more effective in reducing PANSS scores and demonstrating a lower risk of extrapyramidal side effects compared to monotherapy. Conclusion: An increase in the number of medications taken by a schizophrenia patient correlates with a higher incidence of DRPs. Therefore, close monitoring and pharmaceutical interventions are needed to optimize therapy and reduce the risk of side effects and complications.

Abstract

Background: Stroke is the most common central nervous system disorder and the leading cause of functional impairment.   Stroke-related illnesses are difficult. Movement and function issues in stroke patients are related to an inability to regulate body weight transfer as well as a deterioration in muscle movement capacity, resulting in a loss of balance. Objective: to analyze motor relearning program therapy in stroke survivors aims to prevent recurrence of strokes while also improving movement and functional abilityMethods: This type of research is a quasi-experimental pre-posttest with a control group design. The population in this study was all recurrent strokes at Medan in the last three months, with an average of 120 recurrent strokes. This study is non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling. Sample number using the Lameshow formula and obtained 120 recurrence strokes, 60 intervention group 60 control group. The study initially employed the T-test. Results: There were differences in movement and standing balance function before and after Motor Relearning Program (MRP) therapyConclusion: There were differences in movement and standing balance function before and after Motor Relearning Program (MRP) therapy. Abstract

Patient safety is a critical component of healthcare services. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2020), approximately 10% of patients worldwide experience adverse events during hospital care. In Indonesia, the challenge of improving patient safety remains prominent, particularly in resource-limited hospitals. Training on patient safety is expected to enhance nurses’ knowledge, skills, and motivation, which in turn can improve service quality. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of patient safety training in increasing nurse motivation at Bangkinang Regional General Hospital. A quantitative pre-test–post-test design was used with a sample of 100 randomly selected nurses. The training was conducted over two days, from February 12 to 13, 2024. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in nurses’ work motivation following the training. These findings highlight the importance of structured patient safety programs as part of continuous professional development to foster a culture of safety and enhance the quality of care
