Abstract

The education of deaf children presents unique challenges, especially in communication and social interaction. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of sign language in improving the learning experience of deaf students at SLB Negeri Bekasi. This research uses a qualitative method, which is by conducting observations as observations of deaf students in carrying out learning and conducting interview sessions with teachers related to the students observed. The research focused on a sample of two fourth graders and two first graders, to explore their learning experiences and methods related to the use of sign language in the classroom. The main stages of the research included identifying barriers to effective implementation of sign language and developing strategies to increase its use in educational settings. Findings show that sign language significantly facilitates communication, allowing students to express their thoughts and feelings more effectively, which in turn improves their social interactions and academic performance. The study also highlights the importance of customized teaching methods that incorporate sign language to meet the specific needs of children with hearing loss. In conclusion, the research underscores the need to integrate sign language into the curriculum to foster an inclusive learning environment, which ultimately contributes to the academic and social development of children with hearing loss.

Abstract

The workforce comprises various generations, each with distinct characteristics, including Generation Z. Known as the “iGen" or internet generation, Generation Z is accustomed to the ease of accessing technology. According to the JD-R model, ICT usage is a work resource and a job demand that can promote work engagement. However, excessive technology use can lead to technostress and burnout. This study examines the role of ICT usage in work engagement and whether job crafting is a mediator to alleviate the pressures associated with ICT usage. This research employed a non-experimental quantitative method with a non-probability sampling technique through purposive sampling. The regression test utilized Moderation Regression Analysis (MRA). The study involved 159 Generation Z employees working in the IT sector. The measurement tools included the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9) by Kristiana et al. (2018), the ICT Resources & Stressor Scale by Cianci et al. (2024), and the Job Crafting Scale (JC-Scale) by Serpara (2023). The results showed that ICT usage contributed to 39.4% of work engagement, while other factors outside the study influenced the remaining percentage. However, job crafting did not act as a moderator in this study. Additional MRA analysis for each dimension of job crafting as a moderator revealed that 2 out of 4 dimensions could function as moderators .

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of Canva-based mathematics learning media on student learning outcomes. The experimental quantitative research with a post-test design involved 72 participants divided into two groups: VII G as the experimental class and VII J as the control class. Data collection was conducted through tests, then analyzed using t-test to identify the significance of the learning media's influence. Statistical analysis findings through the t-test revealed sample uniformity with a probability of 0.049, which exceeds the critical threshold of 0.05. This indicates a meaningful variation in post-test achievements between the two research groups. Consequently, Canva-based mathematics learning media demonstrably exerts a positive influence, highlighting its superior effectiveness in classroom instructional processes.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the challenges of teachers in increasing students' mathematics learning motivation at SDN Kraton 1. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data was collected through several techniques, namely: Interviews, observation, and documentation. Based on research conducted by the author, a problem was found that students at SDN Kraton 1 lacked motivation in mathematics lessons. Students' negative perceptions of mathematics as a difficult subject, lack of family support in helping them study at home, and variations in students' basic abilities are the main obstacles in efforts to arouse students' interest in this subject. Even though schools have provided supporting facilities such as visual media and technology, their use is not optimal due to time constraints and high administrative demands.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether or not elementary school students' social studies learning outcomes have improved. The Talking Stick model can help students develop critical thinking skills, speedy subject comprehension, active learning, and the ability to voice opinions and questions. Additionally, students' learning outcomes, particularly in social studies subjects, become optimal or improve when the Talking Stick model is used. The document study method, also known as meta-analysis, is used in this study to examine previous research's findings. Ten published journals were uncovered through a Google Scholar data search. The findings demonstrated that the Talking Stick learning model was successful in enhancing the learning outcomes of students, particularly elementary school students. When compared to conventional learning models, the Talking Stick model has produced better learning outcomes in social studies subjects. Adapting the current learning model to the circumstances and requirements of the students is another option if the Talking Stick model fails to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Based on the author's observations at SDN 12 Koto Baru during the teaching and learning activities for Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), it was noted that the fifth- grade class consists of 18 students. On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, during the PLP implementation, the author observed that several students were quite passive during the lessons. About five students were only listening to the teacher's explanations and taking notes without actively participating. When questioned, they often pretended to understand the material even though they did not fully grasp it. Two of these students were found outside the classroom when the lesson began, one student requested to leave the class for an unrelated reason, and around five students sitting in the back row frequently created disturbances, disrupted their classmates, worked on homework for other subjects, did not pay attention to the teacher's explanations, ate in class, and one even slept during the lesson. The author concluded that implementing rewards and punishments could be an effective method to motivate students, boost their enthusiasm, and encourage responsibility in completing their tasks. By providing rewards or applying penalties, students are likely to be more focused and improve their learning outcomes. If students exhibit talent in non-academic activities, participating in competitions or extracurricular activities can be an opportunity to hone their skills and enhance their motivation. Receiving certificates or awards from these activities can also inspire students to be more enthusiastic and engaged. If we observe that students have talents, participating in competitions and encouraging them to take part can help in nurturing these talents, even though not all students may be interested, as they tend to be more active in non- academic areas.
